Oracle OLAP - XMLA

Hello
We want to use FlexMonster (http://www.flexmonster.com/) to connect to Oracle OLAP cubes. I asked FlexMonster support and they said that if Oracle OLAP supports the Protocol XMLA FlexMonster can be used.

I think we need to buy the XMLA Simba for Oracle OLAP provider for this purpose; or is Oracle OLAP natively support XMLA?

Can you help us to answer this question?

Thank you
RK

Oracle OLAP does not support XMLA (or any other form of MDX). So, you'll need [url http://www.simba.com/MDX-Provider-for-Oracle-OLAP.htm] Simba for this.

My understanding of this is not clear... any help?

    THX all!

Starting with OBIEE 11.1.1.5, as it includes the Oracle OLAP metadata in the Oracle data dictionary, in order to query the data of OLAP analysis workspaces you can always use "Oracle OLAP" as a source in BI-Admin-Tool.

When you create report to OBIEE, it then generates the query using the sql OLAP_TABLE function.

Note that the views CUBE_TABLE generated automatically in OLAP (those with the suffix with _VIEW) are not used at all (or even necessary) when working with OBIEE 11.1.1.5 +.

    Hello
    I upgraded a database on Win64 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.3 Patch 10 .

    Thanks in advance.

If you make no use of OLAP functionality (which sounds like the case since your source database had this option not VALID), you can ignore these errors.

  • Some issues related to the Oracle OLAP features

    Hello!

I have a few questions for which I'm not sure that it supports Oracle OLAP:

    1. several hierarchies of time?
    2 measure groups?
    3. visible values?

    Thank you!
    Best regards, Simon

    (1) oracle OLAP supports multiple hierarchies on any dimension, including the dimensions of time. But note this means something different from multiple hierarchies in Microsoft Analysis services.

    (2) oracle OLAP has multi-cube architecture, so you can easily combine several cubic measures in a single query. This allows to create the equivalent of a measure group. You can do this either by creating a new cube with calculated measures that point the cubes from the base, or at the SQL level by joining the views of cube. There are advantages to both approaches.

    (3) oracle OLAP has no native support for the visible values. To get the visible values, you need to run the part of aggregation in SQL.

  • Are materialized views in Oracle OLAP licenses. ?

    Hi all
We use the EE Oracle 10 g 2. We try to find the list of products of Oracle 10gEE. License part materialized views in Oracle OLAP or that come with the Standard edition.

    Thank you

Commerce 10.2 has a table of availability of the editing features (a SE, SE, EE) which establishes good enough differences:
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/license.102/b14199/editions.htm#BABJICBB

However I don't see, documentation, its use of MV (license) is clearly defined. Basically, it seems it depends of the use of MVs.

See, for example, Data Warehouse (syntheses) and integration - based replication. Sometimes, the documentation uses the phrase "materialized views to...» ». SQL aggregation / analytical seems to be a missing piece as well (in the current doc sets).
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/statements_6002.htm
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/server.102/b14223/basicmv.htm#i1006193
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/server.102/b14226/repmview.htm

The new 11g Cube materialized views feature is of course an OLAP option.

And, as usual, you can find in the documentation, forums etc is almost irrelevant when it comes to licensing issues. You should see your specific contract. Talk to your sales person.

"License issues really, really, really should be addressed to your representative commercial Oracle." Nothing we say here links to Oracle. We don't know other agreements, your organization may have with Oracle. ... explaining that "a guy on the internet with a card to play said logo is OK," probably won't do more good. »

    Hello

Exerted on the free Oracle OLAP features with Oracle 11 g EE?

    Information found on the Internet:

-Oracle Corporation markets the Oracle database OLAP Option optional additional costs to complete the "Enterprise Edition" of its database.
-Oracle OLAP database is it preinstalled with the rest of the Oracle database ERA. You just need her license for use on the Machine of DB when you choose to use it.
-Oracle OLAP is a multidimensional analytical engine world class integrated into the Oracle 11 g database.

Please confirm if I can try some OLAP features in my office where I have Oracle 11 g what EE installed as asked me to do an initial POC?

    Kind regards

    Hello

I think that the OLAP license is covered by the OTN Developer License - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/testcontent/standard-license-088383.html

You should contact your representative local Oracle sales if you are still not sure

  • OBIEE and Oracle OLAP value based hierarchies

    Hello...

I have a dimension of value based on Oracle OLAP and want to map on OBIEE Administration tool.
I was using the link above as reference:
    http://www.Oracle.com/technology/OBE/olap_biee/CreateBIEEMetadata.htm

There is no option to import from Oracle Database multidirectional. Either import/configure the view created by OLAP as Unballanced or Dimension shredded.

I also checked this example, but it uses ESSBASE multidimensional source...
    http://www.rittmanmead.com/2008/08/27/ragged-hierarchy-handling-in-OBIEE/

How to map this Ragged Dimension created in the workspace OLAP in OBIEE Any suggestions or guidance will be highly appreciated...

    Thanks in advance

    Marcos

    @Mark and Marcos:

No, you don't 'stink' to OBIEE and you aren't big draws. OBIEE can not handle hierarchies measure today. Period. What you face Oracle OLAP is true to the CSG and Essbase as well. Are jagged, asymmetrical, etc, that no problem at all for normal dinemsional hierarchies, but you can forget about it in the hierarchies of the measure.

Basically, it comes down to the fact that OBIEE needs a 'table' to act as the 'fact '. So if I have a cube with the 'Scénario' and 'Account' then I have to choose one as the measures dimension and the other as a normal dimension.
If I choose "Account", then the members account will be flattened and becomes my fact table. The Scenario dimension becomes a dimension with the generations as the columns of the logic and the scenarios themselves appearing as members of dimension.
If I "turn" the cube and do 'Scénario' my measure dimension, accounts become members in a dimension hierarchy and scenarios become columns in my table of facts.

There is no work around in any version of 10g and the "rotation" is the only way you can create reports if you work with several measures on several levels of the hierarchy.

    See you soon,.

  • Oracle OLAP: same values according to dimensions members

We had a request from a customer who says:
By Essbase, the same value of dimension member can exist in several dimensions. for example if we have an account with Member 1001 dimension, it is not possible to have the dimension of product with the same value of Member 1001. It is essentially because it implements Essbase as a shared member. Apparently, Essbase Excel-addin will not know what dimension to search for if both have the same values.

According to our understanding, there is no such restriction in Oracle OLAP both during cube generation or querying through Excel add-in. that is to say we can have the size of account with 1001 members and same value member can exist in a product dimension. Please notify and if anyone has any reference to all documentation in this regard please let us know.

    Hello

You're right - there is no such limitation in Oracle OLAP.

A dimension value must be unique within a given dimension, but may be repeated in other dimensions.

I have all the documentation, but it's really easy to prove using the OLAP in AWM worksheet, for example:

    AW create test
set the text of side dim1
    maintain dim1 add 'member1 '.
    report dim1
set the text of side dim2
    maintain dim2 add 'member1 '.
    report dim2
    AW detach test
    AW delete test

    I hope this helps

  • Do we need Oracle OLAP Engine for OBIEE

    Thanks in advance

    # OBIEE actually works with relational tables, where you can implement a star schema based on pure tables, views, etc. materialized views.

Personally, I believe that, in order to obtain the best performance, you should use the OLAP Option. With that you will have all the aggregated, so time to queries would be minimal. But this is a long discussion and depends on many things.
