Oracle Timesten Architecture queries

Hi gurus

We have six number of different physical locations and therefore want to deploy the telecom application on each location which using the same data.

each location is connected with lines of lease

We want to deploy the Solution of IMDB Oracle
Oracle Timesten
Oracle Timesten Cache connection
Database Oracle (Enterprise Edition)

We have two boxes of RHEL server on each site

Constraint:
installation of a location of Oracle (Enterprise Edition) database

Please suggest possible different architecture scenarios.

It's far the best architecture for performance, resilience, etc..

If the volume/rate of change of data that need to be updated for caches is very low then you might consider this architecture but it will impose a load more on the Oracle DB.

    There are many things that you must understand and keep in mind when implementing a complex system, and it is oexception n. You should start by studying documentation TimesTen. In particular you should familiarize yourself with the information in the Cache User Guide and the Guide of the replication. These contain a lot of very important information regarding the installation/deployment and operation c/o pairs and groups of cache, configuration cache link for CARS etc. You should also read through the troubleshooting guide to familiarize yourself with what things to look if things do not seem to work as expected.

    If you are not already familiar with TimesTen, I would also highly recommend that you take the time to read the rest of the documentation. TimesTen is not Oracle Db and it is very compatible with Oracle in many areas, there are also many significant differences you need to consider when developing applications, management of the etc system, if you are able to take a training course OR on Timesten then I would recommend but if not then read the documentation is a good second best.

    It is "not recommended" operating systems specifically, but 64-bit Linux is definitely a good choice. You might consider Oracle Enterprise Linux instead of Redhat; It has some advantages.

    In each site, the two nodes in the pair of active / standby TimesTen should be on the same local network. I would recommend GigaBit ethernet as a minimum.

    Although it is possible to write your own scripts much easier (and much more robust) handful of deployment, monitoring, failover and recovery of pairs a/s there a lot, if you deploy Oracle Clusterware on each site for automated management of the pairs a/s. It is our strong recommendation and is also recommended.

    From a point of view TimesTen, system clock synchronization is necessary within each site (i.e., the clocks on both nodes in a system have? Pair of S must be closely aligned). However, it may be desirable to have all nodes in all sites have their clocks in line for other reasons.

    You must ensure that the bandwidth and latency of the WAN connections is sufficient for the amount of traffic to refresh you. There is no simple way to estimate/calculate this. you will need to determine empirically.

    These are probably the most important things. As you progress, you can of course ask questions in this forum and use Oracle.

    On further analysis, it is really depends on consultant's qualification and knowledge. When I worked for Oracle CIS, I did this kind of expertise (analysis of applications and architecture, POC and etc..). I think there are many people who can do in US.     The total physical RAM size in server is 32 GB.

    There are 40 million lines of single Subscriber table (45 columns) in the Oracle database
    We want to configure the CACHE of READ-ONLY-LOCAL in Oracle Timesten for this table to the Subscriber.

    What should be the size of Oracle Timesten support the above configuration database.

    You can use the utility ttSize (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21901_01/doc/timesten.1122/e21643/util.htm#CHDEHFIE) for the prediction of the size.

    Example: ttSize - tbl tableName-lines 40000000 your_DSN

    In addition, you can use ttComputeTabSizes function and tableGroesse clause to get the actual table size

  • How canI check the installed Oracle software architecture?

    Is there a way to check if I have 32-bit or 64-bit version of the Oracle software of in Oracle?

    I want the script in a check to see if the Oracle Home where this database is running is 32-bit or 64-bit. There is not enough good to check the architecture of the BONES, as some systems I have 64-bit OS but a combination of houses Oracle 32-bit and 64-bit.

    I watched parameter $ v and found nothing directly. SELECT platform_name v database $ shows architecture, but it works only on 10g and, possibly, 9i. On 8i, I can't find any similar columns.

    Select * from v$ version also indicates whether or not a system is 64-bit (32-bit only shows no banner string to indicate 32 - bit)

    But the two methods above are a bit vague: I don't know if they are simply greping the architecture of the operating system or if they are examing the oracle binary?

    Came to $ORACLE_HOME/bin and run
    Oracle file

    On the database, check session of v$, if saddr columns is raw (4), db is 32 bits (4 * 8), if it is raw (8), db is 64 bits (8 * 8).

    Is it possible to create 2 customers Oracle under the same OS user (GR 11) 2/RHEL - which is 32 bit and the other with 64 bit?

    Is it possible to uninstall say a 32-bit Client Oracle by using the 64-bit oracle configuration?

    How can I be sure that an Oracle Client pre-installed on a machine gave me is 32-bit or 64-bit.

    Yes, it's the customers oracle s possible 2 32 and 64 bits on the same OS.
    If the Oracle Client is 32 bit, it will contain a "lib" folder But if it's a customer of Oracle 64-bit, it will 'lib' and 'lib32' records.

  • TimesTen to AWT Oracle Transaction semantics

    I had a question about the semantics of transaction being maintained between Oracle and TimesTen for an asynchronous write through to Oracle TimesTen. Suppose we have a single cachegroup AWT on TimesTen to update a single table in Oracle.

    If on TimesTen, we do the following-

    1 insert a line in the cache group TimesTen.

    Validation - end of the transaction 1.

    2. update the same row on TimesTen.

    Validation - end of the transaction 2.

    3. update the same row again on TimesTen.

    Validation - end transaction 3.

    The question is the update to Oracle via AWT would 3 operations (Insert followed by validation, followed by validation updates and another followed by a validation.) or will happen differently? I think that ranking (insertions followed by updates and another) would be maintained. How about the semantics of transaction?

    To add more, version TimesTen that we use is 11.2.2.4.11 running on a 64-bit Linux machine. We have a secure two validation architecture where we have two instances of TimesTen, a primary (active) and a secondary (standby) to Setup, with the operation of the secondary instance (standy) AWT.

    Yes. AWT uses batch operations against Oracle to optimize performance. One batch can cover several transactions (complete) because they took place on the side of TimeTen. We promise each batch. If a batch operation fails, then restore us the whole lot and then re-run the transaction that made the batch using individual operations, and in this case, we will then engage on each transaction limit.

    Perhaps a link in the Advisor to each document for installation/upgrade is needed.   Would be very useful.  And, if the document refernence is not specific to the step, but it is more general in nature, then a shor comment indicating to view only the relevant sections of the document.   That, to me, would be the most valuable contribution.  Please ask for clarification if necessary.   The page I am referring here would be 'Building the Middleware of Oracle 11g Architecture basis'. Each of the steps listed there is extremely useful.   Also, small change to it would be great for it is according to put it as follows in the next video that Dan is putting together to address upgrade scenario.

    And as mentioned in a previous debate. Would be really nice if we know exactly what is supposed to be running for each of these steps.  Not so much after we're done, but how to start.  Also, what environment should be set to.

    Example: Ensure that portal db, earphone, IDM and former/current levels are rising and runing and environment is set for new construction/PFRD area (where are the new binaries) for the portal 11g Upgrade Wizard.

    Example: Ensure that db, listener, old idm level runs and defined environment to the new layer IDM of IDM Upgrade Wizard.

    NOTE: These are examples only and may be wrong, but (and please let me know if so)... There you have something to run with.

    FYI... So I made changes at the stage 'The base Middleware of Oracle 11g Architecture site'... so we have documentation References inline + some additional details added. When you find the time, take a look and let me know if the changes are for the clearest reading / understanding of the build process.

    I installed timesten, and I just wanted to compare the performance of the following pl/sql block on with same block on Oracle timesten.

    I created a group of cache in Timesten for caching table AKS_TAB_MASTER & AKS_TAB_DETAIL

    I created the AKS_TAB_DETAIL table in Oracle and timesten separately to avoid transmission

    In some ways, TimesTen takes 4 times longer than Oracle.

    I went through a link TimesTen Database Performance Tuning and database as my settings as follows:

    Permanent data format 640

    Temporary data of size 300

    Replicate parallel buffer MB 480

    Log File Size (MB) NULL

    Size of the buffer log (Mo) 320

    Cach AWT method 1-PLSQL

    AWT parallelism NULL cAche

    PL/SQL Connection limited memory (MB) 320

    PL/SQL optimization level 2

    PL/SQL Memory Size (MB) 240

    PL/SQL Timeout (seconds) 600

    I get always poor performance of TimesTen.

    No idea what could be wrong on my instance.

    I was watching just the info you posted and I was about to point out the missing foreign key. In TimesTen set a primary or foreign key results in an index being created. You would have seen improvement even if you create an index on the MTAX. AKS_TAB_DETAIL (MASTER_ID). Without this index each execution of the query cursor c2 was a full table of param2tres table scan (which is obviously much slower than the indexed access).

    TimesTen is a database in memory you will need to apply database optimization techniques usual whose correct indexing is very important.

    Hello. I'm evaluating Oracle + Timesten cache function group and had the following problem. I have run on Oracle initialization scripts, created users Oracle and TimesTen (have the same names and passwords), created the test table (sous-nommé), global grid and dynamic async write cache of this table group. Can I run an insert query and see changes in Oracle. But when I run the query insert on Oracle I don't see the inserted data in TimesTen. Here are all the orders I have make to create the cache group

    As an administrator of the instance, I create user (tengri) and cache administrator (tengriadm):

    Command > create tengri user identified by tengri.

    Still 1 entry. My first mind was about validation but I double checked on Oracle, executed the command commit explicit and still don't see no change on TimesTen. Anyone would specify this behavior?

    For groups of dynamics of the local cache, dynamic load is possible that for instructions SQL that include a predicate of equality key on a defined primary key or foreign key. For statements that meet these requirements TimesTen will be first to try and access the data requested on the spot. If no matching row is found, then it will try in Oracle. If the data is found in Oracle it will be recovered, inserted into the cache tables in TimesTen (ready for the next access to it) and then the SQL application will run on local data and returns its result. This works for SELECT, UPDATE, INSERT, and DELETE operations.

    Global dynamic cache groups TimesTen titles, to a level of cache instance, if data are al; This loan somewhere in the grid (and if yes where it is located). For SQL, which is eligible for the dynamics of the charge, if no matching line is found locally, then they will be recovered (moved) to another Member of the grid (if the data is already present in the grid) but if not it will be loaded dynamically Oracle regarding the case of Group of local cache.

    In the current implementation of the used Oracle Grid hides a lot of functions and the concept is a; cache' grid. Currently it is not possible to use the Cache grid without a backend Oracle database. This may change in a future release.

    We plan to build IMDB as a stand-alone database. that is to say act as stand-alone database like oracle database,

    It's quite possible. TimesTen began its life as a standalone IMDB; caching for Oracle is a more recent addition. Licensing Oracle TimesTen in two different ways:

    1 oracle TimesTen In - Memory Database - it will licenses for stand-alone operation including high availability (replication), but do not for any caching features

    2 oracle Timesten, Databas in the cache (Cache IMDB) - this is an Oracle DB EE option (i.e. you need an Oracle DB EA license to buy it) and it includes all the features of stand-alone more caching features.

    There are several deployments of production of TimesTen being used in standalone mode, there is that it is used as a cache.

    Standalone TimesTen provides the data persistence, transactionality, recovery and high availability without the need for any other database. Some advantages and disadvantages of independent use TimesTen are:

    Pros

    -An architecture cleaner and simpler; just a database, no problems of inter synhronisation database

    -Best overall performance; in caching scenarios, Oracle DB can still sometimes be a botlleneck

    -HA implementation is simpler

    -Potentially reduced hardware requirements (based on the application and workload of course)

    -Cost of the potentially reduced license (one product instead of two)

    Disadvantages

    -The total amount of data that can be handled is limited by the available physical memory on the system (because the entire database must always be loaded into memory). For example, if you have a machine with 16 GB of RAM you will likely be limited to perhaps 10-14 GB of data in TimesTen.

    PFRD Configuration Wizard does not upgrades the repository of the portal, it creates just a portal 11g AS Instance against the repository Portal 10g's existing. The Upgrade Wizard upgrades site two-step

    1 put Update Wizard (option "upgrade intermediate level Instance") upgrades 11 g base instance configuration so that it matches the source portal AS10g instance configuration

    2 Upgrade Wizard (option "Upgrade the repository in metadata schemas") upgrades the repository Portal 10 g.

    It's a similar story for instant messaging, only the IM Upgrade Wizard upgrades the configuration file system and the GI database schemas in a go (IE there is no upgrade wizard option separated to "Upgrade the repository in metadata schemas")

    I think that the Viewlet created the PFRD and IDM Upgrade Guides whether clear.
