OTA app

Hi all

I want to put my application via OTA. I put a file txt on the file to see if access to the server is correct, and it is.

I put the jad and cod, and when I try to download the app I throw an exception "resource xxxx not found/sample - 1.cod.

"I read the jad file and I see this line" RIM-COD-URL: Sample.cod "and" RIM-COD-URL-1: example - 1.cod, RIM-COD-URL-2: example - 2.cod, RIM-COD-URL-3: sample - 3.cod.

And the error is obvious because there is no sample - 1.cod (2.3 does not exist too) in my project.

The only eclipse files generate areample.debug example - 1.debug, Sample - Sample - 3.debug, Sample.cod, Sample.cso, Sample.jad, Sample.jar, 2.debug, Sample.rapc and .alx files

What's wrong?

  • Smartphone blackBerry storm OTA apps backup

I am probably missing something here and you feel stupid... but whenever I update my OS, I had to re - download and install a software, I got the OTA.

Is there a a way to save them all by doing the backup with the BBDM? It seems that the only thing on the back ups I do save messages, settings, and contacts. Thanks in advance!

Your upgrade process should be REINSTALL ALL your third-party applications. You will need to re-enter your license or registration key if you have purchased any app. Make sure that your upgrade you check the option to backup and restore applications.

Otherwise... I recommend the continuation of this FAQ for the protection of third-party applications:

  • Installation OTA / app from another provider

I am experiencing very strange behaviour when I want to install my application via appworld and a 'special' from another provider app already installed and visa versa.

On OS7 devices these two applications can be installed at the same time.

If an application is already installed another app it is preponderant.

Appworld still wondering whether to replace the old/other version.

But there is no older/other versions it is a different application!

I can tell versions its show me.

Doesent matter if I click Yes or no the already installed application is replaced by the soft, I tried to install.

But his past just on OS7 devices. On older devices, it works like a charm!

This is expected if both applications used the same library and both are using it as a shared library.

In this case, when you install an application, the library of the other application is overwritten.  The application itself should remain.

You can avoid this by using a bundled library.  Learn more about this here: working with libraries - shared, packed, releasing and using 3rd Party software development kits

  • Sideloaded (Installation OTA) App installs but does not run

I developed an application that uses the JRE BlackBerry 6.0.0 (BlackBerry Java plug-in for Eclipse version 1.3.0) and prepared for the sideloading. After installing the file .jad on a device running the right version to be compatible with the JRE 6.0.0, I find that the application has installed fine (apparently) but when I try to click on the application icon, nothing happens at all.

That's what I did for the lateral load the app:

-Go to the 'deliverables\Standard\6.0.0 subdirectory of the project and copied the file .jad and .cod in another empty directory,

-Change the .cod file into a .zip file and then extract to the current location (the result is lots of .cod files)

    -Remove the .zip file

-Downloaded multiple .cod files and a single .jad traveled and web server to the browser BlackBerry .jad file

-A chosen to install the application (didn't set permissions)

The installation process ends without errors or warnings. But, as I mentioned above, when I click on the icon of the application on BlackBerry, at all, nothing happens. No error, no warning, nothing.

My application previously imported a package that RIM has marked as secure, which would mean my application was to be signed. Rather than sign the app, I removed the requirement for this package. So now, no signature should be required (based on the packages that I use). And I do not get the errors I was getting before when I tried to launch the app installed when he needed to be signed.

In addition, when you use the app Simulator works very well. Both loading by eclipse the normal route (Run As-> Blackberry Simulator) and by the sideloading.

Do you know what could be the cause of this problem that I see?

If you need additional information, let me know and I'll gladly gives.

Thank you in advance for any help you provide.

    Carpet

I found the problem after... In the code, using the Display.getWidth (), but I was not signing the application. For some reason any unit that I was testing did not a signature error when launching the app layout race of this call to display solved the problem.

  • Name of the application (CodeModuleGroup) and the friendly name if installed in Blackberry App World

    Hi, expert,

As we know, to the blackberry device, only one application is listed as CodeModuleGroup. Each group code module can have a group name and a friendly name. Based on my experience of test, for this software: http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/38406,

    group name: iSpeech Translator:iSpeech.org

    friendly name: iSpeech translator

So the group name is :, which is always like this or the user can change the name of the group as they want?

Moreover, the convention of group name is the same as the name of the group for the applications installed from a JAD file.

Thanks in advance for your understanding.

Downloaded app from AppWorld is every time the same naming convention: name app + name of the seller. If you install your own server via JAD you get usually only the name of the application under the name of CodeModuleGroup. It does not really affect the installation, I've updated installed OTA app with AppWorld version and vice versa, no problem at all.

  • OTAs and apps 'disabled '.

When I accept the next OTA, will it go into Apps and allow all the 'disabled' system apps that I disabled? It's on a NON-rooted device; I use the built-in feature of Android to disable the annoying apps. From what I can tell, the functionality is similar to the freezing of Titanium Backup, except that it is 'legitimate' built into Android instead of from a third party and requiring a root.

I know that when I used the root, I had to unlock things before OTAing, but will work the OTA if I let things like "handicapped"? Note that disabling an application prevents the installation for her updates, so these apps are in their factory condition... don't know if this will have an effect on the update.

You must enable apps if you have disabled the so described to accept any OTA update.

  • Sideloading apps system affects the OTA update?

As stated earlier updates to the system applications like Playstore, YouTube, etc. By sideloading Will, it affects the future live update?

    Please leave a comment.

    -Vivek

If side load apps does not affect the OTA updates.

  • BB10 App OTA Installation

I know this is off topic for this forum, but I don't know where else to open the discussion among other developers.

Were there any news on if BB10 will allow installs OTA as does the current BBOS?

App distribution should be only through App World.

  • What OTA install different to install App World

    Hi BlackBerry developers,.

I wonder about the differences between the two paths of an app update - via OTA and via App World.

What I've done the research so far, it seems OTA installation clears incompatible persistent data and uses JavaLoader. App World doesn't do the same?

    Thank you!

Based on tests on board in this post (http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Java-Development/Custom-Persistable-incompatible-OTA-install-...)

App World and OTA seem everyone has its own incompatible persistent data management mechanism. If the upgrade is done in the same mechanisim that install the current version of the application, installation will succeed. However, if the mechanism of installation is different, then an uninstall is required before installation.

  • Persistable custom incompatible, install OTA fails, App World install fail?

    Hi BlackBerry developers,.

I changed my application custom persistent object such that when I do an OTA installation now, it shows

1 the downloaded module is incompatible with the data already stored on the device... ". »

    2. "download failed."

    3. "907 invalid COD".

After researching, this seems to be caused by the fact that the Persistable custom is now incompatible with the former. [1] [2].

My question is, if I press the new version containing the change to BlackBerry App World, will be the failure of upgrade App World in the same way? How do you upgrade via Desktop Manager, will it not too?

    Thank you!

kcome, in my case, the error was caused not not by changing the name of the seller, but changes to the object persistent.

The answer to my question was the following:

MyApp v1.0 contains original persistent object.

MyApp v2.0 contains a modified persistent object.

If I try to install v2.0 by OTA v1.0 has been installed through the BlackBerry App World, the installation will fail with the error described.

If version 1.0 has been installed through BlackBerry App World, and I try to install v2.0 through BlackBerry App World, installation will succeed.

If version 1.0 is installed via OTA, and I try to install v2.0 by OTA, installation will succeed.

Basically if you use the same installation method, it can handle changes of the persistent object. Otherwise, you will need to uninstall and then install.

  • Fresh for BBworld when BlackBerry App OTA?

    Hello

I was wondering, when you use BBworld and download a free app / theme OTA, are all costs incurred?

    Thank you

    Hello Lassy

If download you free applications of BBW do not pay.

There are applications that have the most BBW items for sale then you decide whether to buy full.

If you have a data plan consume MB download any application when the subject or the game as much as they are free...

    Kind regards.

  • try to install OTA, bb poster it works but not the app download page

I pushed the app to Web server, flies over the pot here

and cod files, jar file, and when I point to the .jad with my bb browser file,

It shows a screen that says

    It works!

but it's not the confirmation page to download and install the application

mime types are confirmed to be correct on the Web server (with firefox)

what the hell could I do it wrong?

It is hosted in a https connection, but that shouldn't make a difference

Origin of the text "it works!"?

Kindof looks like a test page default for the web server.

You have your types JAD is set incorrectly, or you have the incorrect URL.

  • How to upgrade OTA Marshmallow FORCE?

Tired of waiting for the update. Is there anyway to force the OTA? The former 'clear google services framework' does not work today.
Maybe some kind of solution as for Nexus devices where a person provides the link to the update?

The only way to 'Force' the update is from the set with any phone, system updates menu.
Or with you PC using motorola Device Manager.

    See here:- https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/87731

For other methods, you can try searching on youtube, but you won't have the specific version for your phone and your country.
For what it's worth, my advice is to wait and be patient.
