• How do you add outer glow effect to the text into 12 elements?

  I created a layer in 12 items with text.  I want to add an outer glow effect.

  That's what I do:

  1. Select the layer with the text

  2. click the FX button at the bottom of the screen

  3 click the Styles tab

  4. Select Outer Glow of drop down

  5. I can see 11 predefined option.  The only one that works is called 'Fire' and it's not the style I'm looking for.  I want a simple contour, but none of the other presets have no effect.

  I apply an outerglow to a m6rne I drew ion Illustrator, and I see a strange effect... as if the glow has bed outside the shape itself.  I downloaded an image where I circuled the glow effect "bled".

  Any ideas?

  I'm a bit new to Illustrator and I use Illustrator CS6. I applied the "Outer glow" effect to a vector, but I'm getting weird lines. How can I solve this?

  In Adobe InDesign CS5 Mac OS X 10.6, I applied the graphic blocks outer glow effect. It worked very well the real images (not their alpha channels). Even in PDF rendering.

  Today, at the opening of the ID, the glow effect is applied to the entire image, not just the actual pictures. Additionally, ID start to outline view instead of overprinting as before.

  Anyone with a clue? Most appreciated!

  Thanks for the replies; I checked the settings before asking the question, everything was in order.

  Yet the problem has magically himself today. After the start of ID, everything has been correctly applied again. Maybe a conflict strange cache/preferences or something.

• Flickering glow effect between slides

  Captivate 5.0.

  I have a text box with the outer glow effect (to create a drop shadow).  The text box is on 2 blades, to give the effect that it's the same two slides box.  However, the effect of outer glow vacillates between slides.  The text box not flickers.  Only it emits an outer glow.

  Here are my settings.  Let me know if you need a copy of the captivate file.

  Text box fade in only...

  Glow effect appears for the duration of the text box.

  Set the text to display for the rest of the slide.

  Slide B:

  Text box the same size and location asa Slide

  Glow effect set to start at the beginning of the text box

  Fade Out only text box.

  I remember it was a known limit with dropshadow effects applied to objects on sequential slides in Captivate 5.

  It works much better in Cp 5.5.  In fact, in the Cp 5.5, you can apply a drop shadow using effects or via the new accordion Shadow and nor, vacillates between the slides.

  I created a quick test in first grade 5.5 project to confirm this. I had more than one slide with two text captions on each using the dropshadow different implementations.  None of them flickered.

  In the past, when I wanted to have a shadow remains constant across multiple slides I create the object as a SWF in Flash or image and then import it to the slides in Captivate.  Today, thanks to much better native dropshadow effects of Cp, I never need to do this.

• Effect of outer glow on with solid color text?

  Hi, I'm using an Illustrator CS5. I'm doing an outer glow on a text effect, but I want it to be with a solid white color (not passed). Even if I set the opacity to 100%, it still comes out faded. Is there a way to fix this?

  1. Select with text tooel the stroke and fill none value
  2. Select the type with the arrow tool, select this type instead of character.
  3. Add your fill and return strokes (they are now at the level of postscript type)
  4. On the surface, drag the embankment above the line.

  I was wondering if it is safe to use text effects in InDesign the drop shadow, outer glow. I think someone told me earlier that they are best used in Photoshop especially if you want to print. I just wanted to check that I will be having something printed with the help of ID...

  I've never had a problem with shadow or a glow on text in ID when you go to print, but I let my live transparency and let the printer handle flattening RIP. You can have problems with a printer that has old equipment and insists on having a flattened PDF, but if it happens press (rather than the digital output) even what is unlikely, although I tend to stay away from the effects of ads where I'm not supported the selection of the printer.

  The only way that you would avoid flattening of the questions by the effects in Photshop would be to flatten the image in Photoshop and placing this, but this will rasterize text unnecessarily and will probably lower quality type in the final output.

• Is it possible to use transparency AND the outer glow in a target of composition?

  I created a composition that uses a lot of buttons to display overlays of different on a background image. The idea is that you can see through the images superimposed with an opacity of 50% (for example) to see the image below, in order to understand the context of the overlay image. I also wanted to point out the image overlaid with an outer glow. This kind of work, but I can't get the outer glow AND the opacity to work together when it is applied to the State of the overlay image. If I ask to them both that I lose the opacity of 50%. In the end I had to apply the opacity of 50% of the target of composition itself, but it's not ideal because it affects other elements within the target (for example, a text box describing the overlay image). The outer glow and opacity properly when applied to an image outside the composition, for example a picture placed on the page.

  All targets of composition have opacity 50% (or 75% on click) applied to the target itself and the outer glow applied to the image EXCEPT 'Pair Cubby' which has opacity 50% applied to the image AND external glow. As you can see the pair "Cubby" seems to ignore the opacity setting and is 100% opaque.

  I think I solved my own question. Instead of using "Opacity" next to the "Effects" option, I used "Fill" opacity. This seems to work fine now.

• Initiate an explosion with the glow effect

  Thank you once again for all your help guys.  Now, I am creating an explosion with a glow effect.  Problem is when I apply the glow effect to my form, I created, it assumes I want the explosion to happen as soon as the video starts to play.  In fact, I would like the explosion occur somewhat later in the video, maybe about 25 images in the video.  I can't find a setting for the keyframe at the beginning of the explosion.  Is there a key to this picture and I can't?  I even tried out the shape in the timeline panel so it is not up to that on the frame of 25, but it does not work either.

  You didn't follow my instructions or experiment with the settings of the force.

  In wired mode, go to the section 25 and activate keyframes for position 1 force and RADIUS. Now move back a section to frame 24 and adjust the size and position of strength 1 just behind the layers and small do not to touch the later. If Force 1 and 2 do not affect the layer, it cannot explode.

  You got a problem with rendering order. Take a close look at the order of effects:

  

  In the first place the opacity of the text is changed, then a blur is added. Both alter the values of the pixels in the text. Then, the layer style is applied. Outer glow works by adding or mixed pixel from the alpha channel. The alpha value of the whole text now allows partial transparency the glow will be partially applied to the partially transparent region, color change and fully applied to the transparent area.

  The solution may involve text layers in double an acting as a track matte for each other with the glow effect applied to only one of the layers. It may involve manually generating the glow by removing the style layer and blur a duplicate of your layer text and place it behind the original text layer and a copy of the layer text without partial transparency used as cache by approach. I can't say for sure because I don't know what your animation, but I can tell you that you need more a copy of your text layer to pull this off.

  Wow, thanks for all the help people. After a lot of risk of tearing of hair and some collaborations, I finally thought to it:

  (1) make an accounting on the areas that require compositing, based on the offset of the shadow, the morphological expansion and cutting to the destination.

  (2) expand the mask to grayscale using a metric of chamfer 5,7,11 (the original G. Borgefors algorithm is adapted). Output 8 bit fixed point.

  (3) apply the blur of the box.

  (4) apply to the 1 to 1 curved contour function, conversion to 8-bit alpha values in the range 0-255.

  (5) fill the destination image using the color of the drop shadow, calculated 8-bit alpha channel, blend mode and opacity effect.

  I don't know. Best thing to do is to click on the effect in the appearance Panel, and then change the numbers 75% &.07 inches.

  I really recommend to avoid using an inner glow altogether. You have more control and creative options by adding a line and a Gaussian blur and using the appearance Panel. You also does not slow down your computer like by stacking of multiple instances of internal flow for example a brighter glow.

  If you still wish to continue to use the inner glow, you can make a few graphic styles and add to your library to quickly switch your inner glow settings.
