Outlook Express 6.0 on Windows 7

Good evening.

I installed the software virtual pc and XP mode software on my computer windows 7 so I can run outlook Express in the environment of the "XP" mode Problem is that Outlook Express wants to settle down in the location c:\program files\outlook express folder, and I want to install it on my K'\drive. I cannot change its path using Windows GUI.

Any ideas please?

Thank you

Steve

PS. I do this for my father who was under XP and like outlook express.

Try going to tools | Options in OE and set it as default value for it.  Also in Internet Explorer go to tools | Internet Options | Programs and set as default OE it as well, or click the reset web settings button, if it is present.

If nothing happens when you click on a link:
Open Windows Explorer or on the control panel.
Go to tools | Folder options | Types of files.
Scroll to [NONE] URL: HyperText Transfer Protocol (NOT the shortcut URL: Internet) and select it.
Click Edit or advanced, depending on your version of Windows.
    Choose 'open '.
    Click on change.

"Application used to perform action" should read:

"C:\PROGRAM may EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" - nohome (check the path to)
Iexplore.exe to ensure that it is correct and use the double quotes).

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below, you should have:

    #2
    IExplore
    #3 (white)

    #4

Protocol URL: HyperText Transfer with Privacy should be the same.

If the foregoing is correct, uncheck the box: use DDE.

  • How can I get my Outlook Express folders to new Windows Live Mail

my old XP computer has blown the motherboard.  Hard drive is OK.  Bought the new computer using Windows LIve Mail.   I transferred 'My Documents' folder to the new computer.  How can I get my files from the old computer to the new Windows Live Mail Outlook Express when the old computer does not work?

Assuming you have the message OE together on the new computer store, (the OE message store is hidden in XP in Documents and Settings, not my Documents), then go to the next topic. If you still have questions, continue your problem here.

Transfer of data from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail

    For Messages:

Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail. Open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

    Location of OE message store:

In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. • Is there a way I can recover my Outlook Express email. I hate Windows live mail and want to come back to Outlook Express. I have Windows 7.

Is there a way I can recover my Outlook Express e-mail account.  I downloaded Windows Live Mail and don't like it at all.  I can't understand how to add a new contact.

You post in a forum of Vista and Outlook Express last used in XP. If you mean Vista Windows Mail, unless you have removed the account, just open the program and use it. You can remove WLMail whenever you want. It is a part of the programs in the window Live Essentials Control Panel uninstall section.

  • Outlook Express is available in Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 8... to use for the e-mail program?

New computer with Windows 7 and IE 8.   It came with Windows Live for email, but I would prefer to use Outlook Express.    Is this possible?

    Thank you

Outlook Express was last used in XP and it all production ceased in June 2006. In addition, he has never been a standalone download of OE.

If you have Win7 Pro, enterprise or ultimate edition, you can install XP Mode and use Outlook Express.

  • Can I install outlook express 8 on my windows 7

I would like to install outlook express 8 on windows 7? If yes I ohe do instructions

    Number of points:

    1. There is no Outlook Express 8. The latest version was Outlook
    Express 6.

Outlook Express does not work on any version of Windows after XP, so it
does not work on Windows 7.

    2. Windows Vista has Windows Mail as his replacement (it is essentially
a newer version of Outlook Express), but who has also gone in Windows
7 (However it can be set in Windows 7 from a Windows Vista
    machine).

3 Windows 7 comes with any e-mail or newsgroup program. Although
many people object, I think it is a step in the right
direction, because it leaves everyone is free to choose whatever
program (s) he likes better. There are many choices available, both of
Microsoft and third parties. Some are free and some are for sale.
Microsoft has Windows Live Mail (which is essentially also a newer version
version of Outlook Express/Windows Mail, with a new name again)
available for free download and Outlook (a different program of)
Outlook express) available for sale, either alone or in
    Microsoft Office.

    4. If your computer came with Windows 7 preinstalled, it may also have
Come with Windows Live Mail. If so, it's not because Windows 7 has come
with her, it's because your computer manufacturer delivered with
what he sold you. Personally, I think that Windows Live Mail is a very bad
    choice.

    5. some people will tell you to use Windows Live Mail; others will do
tell you to use Thunderbird; still others may have other
    recommendations.

My advice is to ignore all of these recommendations. I personally use
Microsoft Outlook for the mail and Forte Agent for groups of discussion, but you
must try several and choose what you prefer, rather than
your decision based on what I, or anyone else, like better (or even
    what Microsoft suggests).

  • Running files Outlook Express & old XP in Windows 7

My old XP machine died so I removed his 'C' drive like it is OK, & he mounted a new win7 machine as its drive "D".  I can now see this disk & records etc in the new Win 7 machine.

I have now to be able to run this disc in a separate XP environment in Windows 7, or at least be able to run my old outlook express complete with all his identities & folders as before, but in this new Win 7 machine. Naturally, I hope that any new program will 'See' those files and import them with little interference from me. But I am very pleased to select them manually if necessary.

I've copied all the file of 'Identities' express full outlook, - worth 12.8 GB, player of 'C' from the old XP machine, - (now drive to the new machine "D"), in a new folder in the "C" drive, labelled 'Outlook Express files', hoping that I could transfer them to a new software of messaging within its 'C' drive , but no luck. The files are there OK but obviously any new program I tried (Mozilla Thunderbird & MS Outlook) not allow me to pick them up.

I now use my old "Outlook Express" if possible in the new Win 7 machine.

You are able to help me.
    Thank you.

You can use the UnDBX, then the add-on tool to import in Thunderbird.

  • How to fix outlook express error 0xc0000005 on window XP

Cannot open Outlook Express, I received a msg of error of microsoft asking me to report this error.  Soon as I have the Outlook Express closed error report.

Bruce: It's not a "FIX" this is the workaround and a sloppy solution that require a separate shortcut for each outlook express account user. Where can I find a solution? I'm having the same problem. Same error code and crash at startup of Outlook Express.

  • Outlook express 6 messages bouncing Windows xp

I use my email account Outlook Express 6 for a single computer.  Lately all my incoming messages have bounced because of the overload of the byte in the Inbox.  I deleted all of the messages in my Inbox so that sent, deleted, ect.  I don't know how to check to see if the messages are stored on the server.

These two problems have been resolved.  It seems that my use of the e-mail was outdated and some clean cleaned executed progam the MyWebBar problem.

Now, if I can get MSE to work properly

It is not OE Inbox, the Inbox of your server is.

Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced - uncheck: leave a copy of messages on the server.
Close and open OE and if you still get the error message, log on to your e-mail server Webmail site and empty the Inbox here.

    Hello

Remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?

See the articles and check if that helps.

Outlook Express 6.0 stops responding or closes unexpectedly and you may receive an error message "Microsoft Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to close"

You may have a damaged identity especially if it's the default main identity. File | Identity | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

Note: Do not use the main word in the name of the new identity.

  • Is there a way to convert Windows Live e-mail and files folders in Outlook Express format?

I made the mistake (severe) a few years previously to install Windows Live Mail and Outlook Express abandonment on my Windows XP computer.  Now, I would run parallel iMAC and Windows messaging systems and e-mail iMAC tool does not recognize Windows Live Mail as mbox files. Therefore, I can't import Windows Live Mail in the iMAC email tool.  To add insult to injury, Microsoft Outlook email tool on the iMAC is import the Windows Live mail.  (No use asking, I guess, why Microsoft would enact incompatible messaging formats without integrating converters through the indexing schemes).  In short, is it possible to return to Outlook Express?

I want to download Windows Mail as it is a more updated from Outlook Express version, my computer has Outlook Express preinstalled on it when I bought it but I have never used, it would be better to uninstall Outlook Express before you install Windows Mail or do I need to keep Outlook Express on my computer where Windows Mail needs to use some of the files I don't want these two e-mail on my computer programs as they would take so much space on my computer.

    original title: Windows Mail Download
Sure. You can download and install WLMail 2009 on your XP machine. I have no idea why you prefer on Outlook Express, but each to their own.

I would like to set up outlook express and to change my ip address on windows xp home

Outlook Express is built into Windows XP.  To run it, click Start > all programs > Outlook Express .  To configure an e-mail account, click Tools > accounts > Add > Mail .

    To change your IP address:

    1. go in Control Panel > Classic view > network connections .
2 right click on your network connection.
    3. click on Properties .
    4. double-click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) .

However, you probably cannot change your IP address if it is assigned by your Internet service provider.  How to get your computer IP address, and why would you change?
