Outlook Express 6 - delete does not
Fool fringe (me) in trouble: I have Outlook Express 6 operating on my computer. Is no longer, I can delete files. I am told "the selected messages could not be moved. An error has occurred. "Anyone out there can suggest what I do - please!
You have corruption of DBX files.
Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox (if you can), and move the messages you want to record off deleted items and sent items. Locate the OE message store and then close OE.
Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.
In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.
With OE closed, find the Deleted Items.dbx and Sent Items.dbx files and delete them. New files will be created automatically when you open OE.
Compact all folders as described below.
To avoid this in the future:
Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.
Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095
After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.
Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.
Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

For the last week, I was not able to use my function 'Delete' on my Outlook Express. I have 1600 mails in my 'box' and I need to remove them, but can't. I don't know how to solve this problem. Hope someone can help me.
Deleted items is probably damaged. On the off chance that you want messages to be saved in deleted items, (a garbage can), move them to a local folder, you create and then follow these steps.

Export Outlook Express of messages does not
I try to export my email from Outlook Express 6 (6.00.2900.5512) on Win XP. I choose File/Export/Messages and go as far as the message "this will export messages from Outlook Express to Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Exchange." When I choose "OK", the message disappears and nothing else happens. The Group of experts to choose the type of output does NOT appear. Is there any solution for this? I'm trying to migrate to a new machine of Windows 8.
You are the very welcome. -

Message from Outlook Express 6 sent does not close
All of a sudden, when I compose or reply to a message and then click on send, the message remains on the screen, as if it has not been sent. When I open the sent items folder, the message was sent.
Any ideas what is the cause?
It could be due to corruption, or it could be due to antivirus software. For the first time, you can go to file | Identities and set up a new identity and then, once that is working very well, go to file | Import | Messages and import them from the old identity. For the potential problem of the antivirus, see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 and you can also configure a new identity in this case, once you have disabled any features e-mail scanning.

Outlook express opens but will not respond to anything I try to do
You may have a damaged identity especially if it's the default main identity. File | Identities | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.Note: Do not use the main word in the name of the new identity. -

This is my first posting. Don't know how much has appeared in the "title". Computer died. Past from Windows XP to Vista. Lost Outlook Express mail folders. Not in Windows Mail. (Got 3 months of e-mail entering the transfer.) I can't the old Outlook Express files?
Have I lost the files of Outlook Express completely or is there a way that I can import them in the same way that e-mail came? My old computer died (power source grilled or something like that). I still have it, but no way to turn it on.
If you can access the old hard drive PC you can get the data of Outlook Express store. See this: http://www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx or this: http://www.insideoe.com/backup/ Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]

deletion does not work in outlook express 6.0
When you just through emails, looking at them and finally to delete... I have a problem that it (delete) works for a while, and then for some reason, the icon of deletion at the top of the disposal of the OE stops working (pushing deletion does nothing). I can then bring down OE and save. He will work for a while, and then the same problem occurs.
