Outlook Express 6 transfer addresses to Z22

I would like to transfer all my Outlook Express 6 email addresses to my new computer Z22.  How can I do this?

If you want to synchronize with outlook express, you must upgrade to outlook 2000, 2002, 2003, or 2007 to synchronize with your handheld. Yes, I know, you buy the software, which means that you will pay, but the only way to do what you want is to be upgraded. Once you upgrade to outlook 2000, 2002 or 2003 (they become cheaper), then you can sync with your device. If you still need to install palm desktop to set the path to synchronize with outlook. Here is a useful link: http://www.palm.com/us/support/outlooksupport.html

  • How to activate the 'POP 3' in order to use Outlook Express and transfer my contacts list and then cancel Hotmail

I am currently using Hotmail, with my old Outlook acct always on my computer.   I want to switch it to Outlook because I like the tab 'Cancel', but when I tried, I was shown the POP 3 wasn't available.

I have to let you know that I have absolutely zero knowledge on Hotmail. Never needed it so I have never used or heard.

First of all, you need to access your Hotmail account via OE to download messages. The links above should help, or you have to go on the WLHotmail forums.

I could find this to Setup OE to use Qwest.

  • Address book disappeared and the error message said to reinstall Outlook Express after installing IE 8

Original title: IE 8 has completely corrupted my Outlook Express.c

I just downloaded IE 8 and it has completely corrupted my Outlook Express. My address book is missing and the error message says that I have to reinstall Outlook Express. How can I do this?

    Hi Geloffusa,

    1. What is the exact error message you are getting?

You can try the following steps and check.

Step 1: Rename the Windows address book file

    a. click on start-> Search-> all files or folders.

    b. in the "All or part of the file name", type: "*.wab" (without the quotes).

    c. define the area look in to include your local hard drives, and then click search.

NOTE: If you find more than one .wab file, make the following changes for all files.

    d. click the file .wab you find. On the file menu, click Rename.

    e. Type "oldaddress.old" and press ENTER.

    f. open Outlook Express and check.

Step 2: Edit the registry and save dll files

    a. click on start-> Run, in the Open box, type "regedit" (without the quotation marks) and then click OK.

    b. navigate to the following registry key and delete it:

    -HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB

    -HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WAB

    c. Remove wab32.dll and wab32res.dll in C:\Program Files\Common Files\System

    d. Click Start-> Run, in the Open box, type "msimn /reg" and then click OK.

    e. Click Start-> run, type "regsvr32 «c:\Program files\Common Files\System \wab32.dll»»

    f. Click Start-> run, type "regsvr32"c:\Program files\outlook express\oeimport.dll.

    g. click on start-> run, type "regsvr32"c:\Program files\outlook express\wabimp.dll.

Important: The above mentioned steps show you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, follow the steps from the link below:

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Outlook express updates

Like many others, I lost my old version of Outlook Express with my address book and files, including e-mails. It loos like an auto update did this, but I tried restoring the system without change. I'm on Windows XP Home edition. Help, please

No OE update have been since 2006, an update does not affect the message store.  Antivirus usually helps clear messages of OE, but it can occur spontaneously.

Sometimes OE resets just the location of the message store, perform an advanced search for *.dbx and in the advanced search options include files and hidden folders.  Make sure you first go to control panel | Folder options | View and uncheck Hide extensions of known file types and enable the display of the hidden files and folders.  See also the points 2 and 4 here: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4

To the address book, search for *.wab and if you can't find that, look for * ~ * and the address book backup has a ~ in the name of the file.

    See if that helps.

  • How to get my Outlook Express, I had before the crash and restore?

My computer crashed so bad I had to click on the f10 key, but it did a restore and I lost my Outlook express, even my e-mail provider windstream has been lost and now, they can't recognize my old login, can't my email even with the same settings as I had typed out after that I started usuing Windstream in 2010 my address book is gone! can not get my address book! My new outlook Express6 has a released check it out, but when I click on it nothing happens. I used it even though my intention was not to send an e-mail, I am a bad speller! I'm very confused with my old outlook Express and the address book. The news is very disappointing!

According to Bruce, you will need to search for *.dbx to locate the directory of dbx files.  Make sure that you have configured to display the hidden files and folders and do not hide the extensions of the types of files known as control panel | Folder options | View.  Also when research conduct an advanced search and include files and folders hidden in the advanced search parameters.  The address book is a wab, so also the search for *.wab file.  When find you them, then use the file | Import | Messages and files. Import | Address book to get back them.  See also www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4 and www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx for background information.

If you have formatted the drive when you did reinstall it, then the old files have disappeared.  My DBXpress program has a record feature which can recover some of the lost messages (see www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/).

To the properties of your account, you need to collate Windstream or check their Web site for the correct settings.

  • Lost on Outlook Express emails

'Cleaning' Outlook Express process (transfer and compact) seems to have deleted about 10 weeks of recent e-mails.  How to make a comeback?

Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

Why OE insists on compacting folders when I close it? :
    http://www.insideoe.com/FAQs/why.htm#compact

    Why mail disappears:
    http://www.insideoe.com/problems/bugs.htm#mailgone

    Recovery methods:

If you are running XP/SP3, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.

If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

DBXpress run in extract disc Mode is the best chance to recover messages:
    http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/default.aspx

A general warning to help avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

Windows Live Mail is the replacement of the so-called for Outlook Express and Windows Mail for Vista. Personally, I can't stand it and use Thunderbird, but it's my preference, and who knows, you might like WLMail.
