Outlook PST file problem
I just downloaded office 2010 beta and get an error message "access denied to file. You don't have permission to access the file. "This happens when I try to import an Outlook data file. The file I can access on an Iomega portable hard drive that I could access from other programs.

Hi guys, just a message quicky, for various reasons in recent weeks I have had problems with my Microsoft Outlook, which I use for e-mail, etc.. I have created a number of .pst files and would like some advice as to how best to group them into a single pst file.
Is it possible and how do I proceed.

Hello
Yes, you can combine/merge/join the files using the following (from Outlook) process:
or use a third-party tool:

Clogging network Outlook .pst files
Hi, we have a virtualized environment by which some VDI have been created to accommodate Windows 7 and there is a storage server resides on a different server hardware. The problem is when a user opens Outlook and downloads its .pst file from the storage server (quite large, approximately 500 MB), the rest of the users were almost impossible to download their bandwidth because network is virtually taken over by the first user. Is there a way for Outlook perform a kind of network optimization so as not to create a congestion on the network (perhaps by some sort of file compression, for example)?
Or if anyone has tried running the storage server on the same server where the rest of the resident VDI? If yes then there is an improvement in this regard?Hi Raven,
Welcome to the Community Forums of Microsoft, you have any questions about storage server. I suggest you to report the issue in the Technet forum for assistance:

How do I import saved in Windows Mail Outlook pst file?
I saved my Outlook e-mail in a PST on a hard drive external. Now I want to restore that saved email on another computer that uses windows mail. I tried to use the "import" feature, but it does not give me a PST in option.
Hello
Windows Mail is unable to import a .pst file if Outlook is installed on the Vista computer. You can install Outlook, copy the PST on the Vista computer, open the .pst with Outlook, then you can import into Windows Mail.
Here are a few links that tells you how you can import a .pst in Windows Mail.

Hope that the information in the links help. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Cannot import Outlook pst file. How can I get permission to access the file?
Outlook does not import a pst file that is checked on a DVD file. Says I don't have permission to access the file. What can get the permission to modify the file archived for read-only?
Outlook needs read/write access to PST files. Write access is not possible if the file is located on an optical disc.
Copy the file on your hard disk, and then import it. -

Outlook pst files lost after the creation of new users on PC
After re-setup of Small Business Server 2003 with a different domain name, I had to then modify the user account from PC on their individual computers. After selecting the new domain and restart the PC, windows XP has treated change as if I created a new user. Windows created new parameters for the user and all Outlook files have disappeared. Windows archive/back them somewhere? Why Windows did create new parameters for the same user?
Thanks for your help!

Sky Drive: Would like to use Skydrive to backup my outlook pst files, but they go beyond the 300 MB limit imposed by Sky Drive. Is there a way to get around this?
Thank you very muchHello
You can upload files to SkyDrive using the loading page standard (if you need to download a few files only) or the bulk load tool (if you need to download a lot of files). Each file you download can be up to 300 MB. If you have installed the application SkyDrive, you can download the files and folders on SkyDrive automatically by copy, move or save them to the SkyDrive folder on your computer. Files that you download this way can be up to 2 GB in size. For more information, you can also consult the links below.

I recently bought a new computer with Windows 7 pre-loaded. I would like to copy the Outlook .pst files containing all my Contacts, Emails (in and out) calendar items, tasks, etc. from my old computer (running Windows Vista) on my new computer. My version of Outlook is 2007. What I want to know is the plan of the book to find the files on the old computer, and then the directory map to find out where to stick them on my new computer, so that they appear automatically. Can you give me the directry channels please?
The best way to find the location is by going into Control Panel--> Mail, click data files and display the path to the .pst file.

original title: where is the location of the Outlook.pst file in Windows 7?
I want to copy my Outlook.pst to my desktop (Windows XP Pro) data to my laptop. Outlook displays the outlook.pst file which will be located in the "C:\Users\Specific User\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook" folder on my laptop. However, when I try to access this folder in Windows Explorer, the AppData folder does not appear in the user specific folder. I find in my office because Windows XP does not hide it, but he must hide in the Windows 7 operating system on my laptop. How can I get it so that I can copy the file outlook.pst from my desktop to my laptop? If the file is hidden, is there an easier way to copy outlook data from one computer to another?
Chris
To see AppData, enable the display of hidden files and folders in the Control Panel > Folder Options > view .
