• What laptops will run Office2007?

  We will soon be deploying Office 2007 Std. For our desktop computers that we replace everything with a less powerful than a P4 2400 MHz processor.
  However, the situation with the laptop processors is less clear. Some of our Toshiba laptops have Celeron or other low range processors.

  Note: I am assuming that we will upgrade at least RAM 512 MB on all PCs, so it's only the processor I'm not sure.

  Satellite Pro M30, delivered in the summer 2004, Pentium M processor, 1400 and 1700 MHz.

  Satellite Pro L20, shipped in April 2006, processor Celeron 1400 MHz.
  Satellite Pro A100, July 2006 shipped, processor Celeron M, 1400 and 1730 MHz.

  Which of them will be able to run Office in a usable way?
  I know that the official response from MS is 'no matter what processor 500 MHz more', but we know all that it is a complete fantasy!
  I'm after advice from someone who has actually used these laptops or processor with Office2007 types.

  I spoke with a friend of mine on Office 2007 and I asked him about the problem you are having.

  There is a kind of MCSE (Microsoft Certified Software Engineer) and he told me that everything on celeron would be good for Office 2007.

  So if you want Office 2007 to run smoothly on the listed machines then just use laptops that have a "pentium M" installed because the Celeron is really too slow for this work.

• Palm TE2 unable to synchronize with Office2007

  I have a Tungsten E2 Palm OS Garnet V.5.4.7

  It was purchased for me as a gift last year. I suspect it was a model 2nd hand / reconditioned.

  Recently, I reformatted my desktop pc and installed the Office2007.

  My operating system on the desktop computer is XP

  Before reformat, I ran XP OS with Office 2000 Pro, I had no problem with my Palm up UNTIL reformatting was done.

  I installed Palm Desktop V 6.2.2 Hotsync V 7.0.2 (the two more recent than previous versions that were on the platform Office 2000)

  I installed Pim sync conduit for Office2007

  When you try to synchronize my pc generates a message in the lower right corner "USB device not found", my Palm produces the message "the connection between your device and the desktop could not be established.  Please check your configuration and try again.

  It does not appear in my device manager hardware with a yellow mark.

  I managed to manually add a device in the device under "palm os handheld device" Manager which shows as "palm pocket computer" with the driver version 6.0.2.0 in the properties of the device of this element in the Device Manager.

  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling software, clean the registry as well.

  I've replaced the USB cable.

  I did a soft reset.

  I made sure the conduit synchronization is set to Outlook.

  What I suspect, is that the software in the palm itself is too old for the news that I just installed and not compatible with Outlook2007

  My question is this: is it possible to update the software in the Palm WITHOUT losing the information, via an SD (512 MB in size)

  Unless of course someone here has a better suggestion.
  I've been on "online chat" with support and they did make me do all the things I had already tried and were no help.

  I can't do a "hard reset" because I want to lose all the data that has been added since 2 weeks ago, and since I have added things like date customer and other... This could be problematic.  Normally I save on Outlook once a week, but could not since reformatting my pc and installing Office 2007.

  When you run a backup with NVBackup, you can watch its progress the screen scrolls with all files of that backup of it is.  If you want to see all the individual files that are in your backup, you can highlight the manual backup, enter the Menu and press on restore selective.  This will bring up a list of the files in the backup.

  Another thing that to see the files is to use a file as the freeware run Manager application which can be found here and elsewhere. It allows you to browse the contents of the memory of your Palm, as well as the content of your card.  The files that are in your backup would be in the folder on your card:

  [name of your map] > Palm > programs > NVBackup.  Backups are listed here date.  Press the triangle next to the backup, and will be expanded to display all files that are there.

  It there's really no way to see the actual records to be sure of what's there, short borrowing someone another E2 and executes a restore on this subject.  But if you watched the backup because it happened and can see all the files that are in there, I think you'll be quite comfortable that everything is... I've never had NVBackup Miss and I restored my T5, several Txes incl. and my Centro with it several times.

  I'm repeated failure in automatic and manual to install the latest updates to 8 day. Installing normal Windows 7 updates very well. Can someone explain what I need to do to get these updates?

• KB962871 will not install the SP1 of Vista Ultimate x 64

  OPERATING SYSTEM:

  Problem:
  KB962871 (updated for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 Junk Email Filter - March 10, 2009) still fails to install on my laptop Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 x 64.

  When the installation of the update fails, Microsoft Update indicates that the installation failed with error code 80070641.

  I retried the installation with my software antivirus disabled with the same result.

  I also retried the installation after you delete the contents of the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download folder (in the case where the download was corrupted) with the same result.

  I also downloaded and tried to install the stand-alone version of the update (office2007-kb962871-fullfile - x 86 - glb.exe).  When you try to install the stand-alone version of the update, an application exception occurs and is recorded in "Problem reports and Solutions" in the Panel.  I reported these problems but no response yet from Microsoft.

  I also run the stand-alone installer in detailed logging mode.  However, there seems to be a way for me to join this post.

  The following lines appear to the last few lines of the wordy 6.6 MB outlfltr_MSPLOG resulting. LOG file:

  If you read my original post, you'd know that the installation of the manual update was NOT the solution.

  Finally, I opened a case with the support of Microsoft and after going through several teams of different products, the question was eventually identified by a member of the team of Microsoft Outlook as a bug in Windows Installer 4.5.  He said that the Microsoft Office team noted several problems with the installation of the hotfix under Windows Installer 4.5 and suggested that I downgrade to Windows Installer 4.0 to work around these bugs.

  I went down to Windows Installer 4.5 back to Windows Installer 4.0 and the problem has been resolved.

• XP will not update (a few tasks)

  Today, I learned that I had a few 12 installed updates.

  What follows, downloaded and installed OK - KB890830, KB2596785, KB2596843, KB2596912 (first is the MSRT tool, last 3 are associated with office2007).

  What follows are asked to download, but will not install - KB2618451, 2633952 Ko (stop ActiveX bits and an XP update)

  The other 6 fail all apparently to download - KB2624667, KB2639417, KB2619339, KB2620712, KB2633171, KB2618444 (all of the XP security updates)

  Thus, some installed OK, most didn't.

  I repeated the attempt to download and install them and it has not yet. I rebooted and tried again and it has not yet.

  If I re - run the express update of "Help and support center" check it now discovered there are 8 updates, (KB2618451, KB2633952, KB2624667, KB2639417, KB2619339, KB2620712, KB2633171, KB2618444) and asks me to install the. But he said that the size of the download is only 3 m, which cannot be correct. In any case, the results are as above, 2 appear to download but did not settle and the rest fail to download.

• After installing KB973525 on Windows XP SP3 Visio Viewer 2003 stops working.

  I have the test course last patches of October that I discovered that once I have install the patch MS09 - 055 Cumulative Security Update to Kill bit ActiveX (973525) on my test workstations (WinXP SP3 IE6) this Visio Viewer doesn't work. IE displays the red X in the upper left. I tested on 5 workstations that all have the same result if I uninstall KB973525 functionality of the Visio Viewer are returned. I saw on another forum that this problem has also been reported.

  Created a batch script to remove existing Visio, and then install Visio Viewer 2007, SP2, then KB 973709.

  According to Microsoft, my office 2007 contains an ID valid Key code and product. But the final apology stuck with microsoft technical support were it went as I bought apparently MSDN license and 90 days they will support me or provide me with a download to reinstall after that I have to perform a full restore of HP. The computer has slowed down considerably, stopped working a week after microsoft update installed incorrect hardware drivers. I had to buy a PCI network card as the realtek driver did not work and the original HP driver would not move. The company I bought the PC of Ngoc is no longer. The best solution to speed up the machine and retrieve the original network controller is to recover the machine and start over. I don't have my key code, but if I can't install office 2007 from the recovery partition, then it is no good for me.

• Opening Excel thinapped via another package thinapp with VBScript?

  I am trying to create an executable from the installation of the application (say that adobe reader), the project is completed successfully and the exe is created, but there is also a .dat file that is created is dependent on the exe.

  right... so you should have a share of something like

  Server\Adobe9\Adobe9.dat

  Server\Adobe9\Adobe9.exe

  Server\Office2007\Office2007.dat

  Server\Office2007\Word.exe

  Server\Office2007\Excel.exe

  Each user can just run the .exe file they want and any changes will be stored in their personal sandbox.  If you used the location of sandbox by default, then it would be %APPDATA%\microsoft\windows\sendto (that would be).  In this way all users can access the same set of files, and the changes are stored in a single location.

  You can also look at the use of ThinReg to entry points in the user's start menu.  It is a little more transparent... they click on the menu start icons and it will access the network directly share for which the ThinApp is stored.
