Parallel printing of XP, Win 7 64 host guest

I can't connect my xp, host of win client prallel printer 7 prints very well...

The printer sounds like it's connected, but nothing prints from the prompt.

The parallel port is set to 'auto dectet', when I try and manually say "connect" after starting the machine that never works, and "connected" box is grayed out on the Control Panel before starting the client.

I don't know how to get the parallel printer to work on the prompt.

Thank you.

As far as I know, you start Workstation via right click "run as Administrator" to be able to use a parallel port.

In addition, do not use "autodetect" - put off the power of the virtual machine and specify the device - once again do as an administrator.

  • LaserJet P1505n printer: How can I change the host name to NPI1BDC68 to meaninful something more?

My network, a HP LaserJet P1505n printer, host name is set to NPI1BDC68. Is this cable or is there a way for me to change? Trying to solve: manuals were reviewed, Forum questions were searched, google General search conducted. I am running Win XP and a Mac Pro with OS X 10.6.8.

Well, which took me 10 minutes to solve.  I found the answer on a HP site based in France. (I kinda changed my google query and tried again.)  The site asks on first access, if you wish to continue in English, thankfully.  http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01175001

In short, use Internet Explorer or Safari, go to the IP address of your network printer.  For Win XP users, you can determine the IP address using, start/printers and faxes /(select printer)/properties/ports tab / select new/Configure button/second field printer port to down the IP address shown.

Once connected to the network printer subsystem, select the Networking tab.  The host name is the first field which can be changed. Enter a new name from 1 to 15 characters.  Tip: He doesn't like spaces. Underscores work well and the new name can be mixed case. Press the button apply at the bottom of the screen when done.  Warning appears that access to the printer may need to be changed if the IP address has been changed.  Acknowledge the warning. Printer goes offline for a few seconds. The page automatically refreshes and the new host name can be confirmed by inspection.

  • Connect Legacy parallel printer on computer laptop w/USB Port

Anyone with a printer HP legacy parallel port and a newer PC will have a challenge connecting the printer to the PC. The question is: can it be done and, if so, how?

I have an old, OfficeJet - a R40xi relaiable. She has just a single interface - a parallel cable. Now, I have two PCs with no parallel port - an HP laptop and a desktop HP. Both running XP Home OS.

Question is - is there hope using a parallel cable series on the laptop or a parallel to USB cable either?

I suspect that Windowz XP and the driver of HP will not 'see' the printer on the serial or USB ports. Before that I go out and buy cables and pass the TIME, trying to get the system to work, I thought I would ask the advice of EXPERTS. Everyone out there knows?

One option that I still have is to install a parallel card in the desktop PC. I don't know if there is a parallel PCI card for the laptop, but I can watch using GMBMG.com.

    TIA.

  • Printer 6540 on win 7

I have a printer 6540 - better and more reliable I've ever had.  Just got a Windows 7 to replace my XP.  The printer says Win 7' is not supported. "(98, 2000, ME and XP are included on the installation disc.)   Is that what I can do to use the printer?

    Hello

You will find windows 7 drivers for your printer here.

  • Windows 7 connection parallel printer laptop USB - someone at - it managed?

I want to connect my printer Deskjet 722C for my new laptop Windows 7 USB port parallel port.    Has anyone linked successfully an old HP parallel port printer to a Windows 7 computer.  If so, what cable did you use and what have you got to do to make this work?  The others don't seem to be for Windows 7 and also seem to indicate problems in general.  Apparently, it is not as simple as a connecting cable.

There are two possible problems here.  First of all, if you are using the 64 bit version of Windows 7, you need to apply the patch here.  There is a bug in the supplied driver that causes the spooler crash in x 64 versions of Vista or Windows 7, the patch corrects this problem.

Second, as mentioned above the USB-parallel cables, converters can be problematic.  Make sure that the model you have is supported in Windows 7.  The links here have jobs where people are models of converters used successfully with Windows 7.

  • How to set up a parallel printer to a USB port?

Hi people... I'm putting in place our old faithful Laserjet 5 p with our new G70 using a USB to parallel cable, but nothing is. Any ideas on how to configure this odd couple so that they can live and work in harmony? My wife would ruin me rather than having to give up his printer.

Eureka! The TRENDnet TU-P1284 Converter is a plug and play printer inherited to new computer of mating. As a reminder, I have a laptop HP G70 running Vista Home Basic and a HP LaserJet 5 p printer and when I wired everything up, the computer recognizes the printer, install the correct driver, and I was off and running. The adapter is less than $20.00 per Amazon.

  • How to get the driver to a parallel printer using windows update without a parallel port on my laptop?

I have an asus WL500g and I use it as a print server. On my big pc on windows 7. I managed to install the driver on the printer directly on the pc connection an update of windows to get the driver of the Sina. After installing the driver I passed it to the port by using the ip address of my router. It works, but my laptop doesn't have a parallel port, so it is not possible to obtain the driver. What can I do?

You do not want drivers for parallel port on the laptop anyway given that the laptop is not connect via the parallel port, but rather on the network. You would most likely want to install drivers on the laptop Asus print server, and then print to a network printer drivers. Download the Asus former and latter printer mftr.
