IEEE 1284 parallel printer cable

I want to find a printer cable replace still allows the parallel port in my HP printer and the other end to a USB connector on my pc. HP offers this configuration OR can I take my existing double parallel printer cable and buy a kind of connector that converts the parallel port of the pc to a USB port?

What printer model? What operating system? (Some printers such as the Deskjet 900 series printers have a USB port that is usually not visible...)

USB-parallel converters are available from many sources for <$20 us.="" make="" sure="" the="" cable="" you="" purchase="" is="" supported="" by="" your="" operating="" system.=""> the models listed here have been confirmed by users to work in Windows 7.

  • No virtual USB port printer and device option think its an IEEE 1284.4 print media device

I read a number of threads and can still not my problem fixed. I have a Dell box running Windows XP SP3 and tries to connect to a printer of labels Zebra GX420t via a USB connection. He was not to recognize the printer and I think I inadvertently he associated with the generic IEEE 1284.4 printing support driver. I really need a usbprint driver. Now, whenever I connect the printer, I get the yellow symbol in the Device Manager and I do not know how to change the driver to a USB driver. I plug the printer even in my Windows 7 box and it uses a virtual USB port and the same thing happens when I plug it into my laptop running XP SP3. No virtual USB port is an option on my desk. Any thoughts?

    Just to close this thread...

I ended up using the original XP Pro disc to 'fix' the corrupted files. It was a disc of SP2, so I had to make all the updates to get back to where I was. NA not losing all the data (which was nice). Once all updates have been made, I plugged the printer without loading all the drivers and loaded. Looked in Device Manager and it was listed as a USB Printer Support under USB device. When I looked in the server properties/Ports, there was my virtual USB device I was hoping.

I finished loading the drivers updated from a 3rd party (Seagull Scientific... well known for printer drivers label for most of the large manufacturers) and then deleted the old set to the top. Once again, everything is good.

Other corrupted files, I can't explain it all. I had already reloaded the USBPRINT.sys and the USBMON. DLL and that didn't fix it. Glad everything is good. All else fails, start over.

    Thanks for the help.

  • IEEE 1284 PARALLEL USB driver in Windows XP Pro SP3 problem

I have a max system pc which has no parallel printer port and is designed to run Windows 7 or Windows XP pro. I installed XP pro. I had bought the wrong cable (USB to DB25) and inadvertently installed a driver for it that was only compatible with Win98 or me. Now, I have the right parallel to USB cable and when XP detects and tries to install it, it stands automatically and asks this Win98 / ME .inf file that does not work. Technical Support for the cable has told me to update the USB Mainboard drivers, however, is not available for download from the manufacturer of the motherboard. I think that there is something stuck in the registry that keeps pointing to this file .inf that is not valid. I want to know how to update or delete it the register so I can get a clean reinstall the driver for the IEEE 1284 cable. Thanks in advance

See if you can see what he listed as a hidden device when its not connected.

Panel system and launch of open control. Click the Advanced tab. Click the environment variables button. Click the new button at the top under user variables. In the name of the variable type: devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices. In variable value, type 1. Click OK, click OK again.

Click on the Hardware tab, click the Device Manager button. Click view on the top menu and select "Show hidden devices" in the list.

Now expand the + box next to Ports (COM & LPT). If you can see the device listed there, right-click on it and select Delete.

If you were able to remove it from this way, you should be able to plug the new peripheral and prompted for the drivers in the usual way.

  • Windows 7 printer and HP1120c using gigaware usb, a parallel printer cable is not recognized by plug-and-play

I can't get my printer recognized by plug-and-play. I have installed a printer manually, but still can not get to work. All boards

    Hello Kirk,

I'm not sure what you mean by "manually installed", but you need a print driver for the printer recognized by Windows. Go to this page to download the driver you need for whatever version of Windows you have: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?pnameOID=14497&locale=en_US&taskId=135&prodSeriesId=25522&prodTypeId=18972&lang=en&cc=us .

Once you have downloaded the right print driver, I let the computer do the installation. NOTE: you may need to completely uninstall what you've done "manually" so that the correct driver is working correctly. See the HP Web site for more information (I'd do it, but I do not know what operating system you have and its depth of Bit (32 or 64)).

Post here if you need further instructions or assistance (be sure to include your OS and Bit depth). Let me know how you fare.

    Kind regards

  • Deskjet 870 cxi printer cable

I have a Dell Inspiron 1721 that uses Windows Vista Home Premium/SP 2. I would like to know if my HP Deskjet 870 cxi is compatible with my laptop and if it is, I also need to know what type of cable to use. The printer has a parallel Centronics IEEE 1284 port, for which I have the cable. my laptop has USB ports and a few other ports which I do not know the name of the identity. If the printer is compatible, it is best to buy a cable that connects directly to the laptop to the printer or is it better to get a cable that will go from my printer to my laptop cable.

I hope that my question and explanations are clear enough to understand.

Thanks to anyone who can provide assistance.

Hello! Welcome to the @danwas forums.

  • HP Laserjet 4000N: correct printer cable?

I have a Dell Optiplex 790 (new) computer - and the Dell representative told me that I needed this cable

C2G USB 3.0 SuperSpeed A to B Cable M/M - cable USB - 6.6 ft. for compatibility with my Laserjet Printer.

Can you please confirm that this is your recommendation as well?

    Thank you

The 4000N doesn't have a USB Port, and it looks like a standard USB cable, so I would say probably no..

There's an EIO USB card that you may have, but it is unlikely.

The 4000N should have a Jetdirect card, if it doesn't you can join a network and printing.

You may be able to use a USB to parallel adapter cable.

If my post is solved your problem and click the accepted as button solution under him.

  • The printer cable connections

I have a printer HP Laserjet 5 p, old but works very well. It is wired to a cable to plug into the computer. However, I now have a new computer, with no parallel port and will need to talk to the printer via a USB port. Is there an adapter available that will allow me to connect the cable wired to my printer on the USB port? My printer cable's 25-pin male, so I need a 25-pin female plug connected to a USB port. I believe that a cable (6 ft) M501-1164 is available, but that would mean I'll have 12 feet of cable between my printer and the computer. will be led to the loss of data? Will need me new drivers if the computer communicate with the printer via USB and not via the parallel port?

    Thanks for any help.

  • HP envy 4500: hp envy 4500 printer cable

I just bought this printer. I was originally a printer needs to be connected, but there, everything seems to be wireless. I have wireless in my office. I understand that I can connect it to my laptop with a cord. I'm looking for what type of cord. The port on the back of the printer next to the power Jack is a small place like shape. Is the other end, a USB connection? What is called the cord so I know what to order.

Yes, this is what looks like the cord - get one at any store that sells computers - like staples or Best Buy - it is a printer cable

  • Use both WiFi & printer cable or Cat5 to router?

WiFi and cable can be used on the same printer. If cable, use the printer cable or Cat5 cable to router? I'm not sure where is slow to get the print to the printer output.

    Hi roreilly,

Honestly, it depends on the printer. It is possible to install the driver via a USB cable and one of 2 choices in a network, wireless or ethernet, its not recommended, you can get to work, you'll just have to choose which insatled printer you want to print on, but you're certainly not able to have printer communicate via cat5 and wireless as soons as printer detects a network cable It should disable the wireless feature because they are one in the same.

  • Parallel printing of XP, Win 7 64 host guest

I can't connect my xp, host of win client prallel printer 7 prints very well...

The printer sounds like it's connected, but nothing prints from the prompt.

The parallel port is set to 'auto dectet', when I try and manually say "connect" after starting the machine that never works, and "connected" box is grayed out on the Control Panel before starting the client.

I don't know how to get the parallel printer to work on the prompt.

    Thank you.

As far as I know, you start Workstation via right click "run as Administrator" to be able to use a parallel port.

In addition, do not use "autodetect" - put off the power of the virtual machine and specify the device - once again do as an administrator.

  • Drivers of IEEE 1284 printer controller IO parallel PCI card card Port DB25 25-pin

I'm looking for drivers to be able to use the port parallel thi to my computer. My opus system is vista.

    Hi Dee W,

    1. what exactly happens when you connect e/s PCI Parallel Port?

    2. What is the brand and model of the PCI Port of IO Parallels?

    3. you use this to connect to any printer?

    4. What is the brand and model of the printer?

Usually, when you insert the card in the system, Windows will automatically install the generic drivers.

For more information, see the articles:

If this is not the case or you get errors at the time of the connection of this card, you need to contact the card manufacturer to install the drivers.

    Hope the helps of information.
