Partitioned customers

When we first installed VMWare Service Manager four years ago (or below company as it was then known), have been invited to set up a single partition (in addition to the partition not specified) and partition customers in (among others). Since then, we have never had more than one partition in the system, however we would now implement a second partition using the same customer as the existing partition.

We understand that the application won't let you not unpartition any part of the system, but we were wondering if it would be possible to modify the database.

Has anyone attempted to unpartion clients (or other entity) and if so how do you go there and to what extent have you been?

Thanks in advance

Mick

This convert function might be very useful in this case.

Then, you can use the query:

SELECT REF, PARAMETER, dbo. ConvertToBase([NUMBER_STATUS],2) FROM dbo. SU_SYS_PARAMETERS WHERE REF IN (17,18)

    Is the limit of 2 TB because of the evaluation of the operating system version or am I missing a step in this process?

  • Windows Partition deleted w/Win7 - Win7 are now activated on another computer?

    I have a full commercial copy of Windows 7 Home Premium, which was installed on a partition on a laptop, I have used for several years.

    After the upgrade to Win10 end of last year, the Windows partition has started having so many problems that I've regressed to Win7 (using the tool provided with Win10). But once this has been done, the restored Win7 installation was so bollixed upwards it would not not even start with reliability. So (not needing more) I just reformat the Windows partition and put something on it.

    Now, I want to sell my Windows 7 installation media and key. I have questions about the following:

    1. because I didn't have the ability to disable Win7 on the old computer, will he be able to be installed on a new? Or is the key now considered "in use" until I got disabling?

    2. If the key is still considered as being used, how do I get the key made usable again?

    Thank you!

  • When installing a new operating system isn't automatically wipe the hard disk, create a new partition, and then install the operating system?

    Have a Dell system, caught a virus and it has really messed up the PC. Recently, it got worse so I tried to reinstall the operating system with the Dell disks. It wouldn't work. So I bought for Windows 7 Professional, it will not be installed. My first question when installing a new operating system isn't automatically wipe the hard disk, create a new partition, and then install the operating system? Because this does the same as the Dell disks, is to take what is on the hard drive and put it in a folder called windows old, is not formatting the HD. When I boot the disk, it shows the installation of files then open windows and start the installation. Before he could finish I get an error missing or corrupted files. Tried several times now, windows will still not open. Any suggestions? Once while trying to install the pc crashed with a blue screen which is one of the reasons why I have reinstall the OS, he started to plant a few times. I don't remember all the details on my PC, but its 4 years, triple core coprocessors, ram 8 GB, 500 GB HD. At the same time just after all this started in Jan. I had also improved my 3 GB to 8 GB memory. I bought the Dell memory for my system. Since the crash, could there be a problem with these new memory chips? Last night I tried to disassemble each and reinstalling it, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Before I tried to reinstall the operating system, the pc was see the concert 8.

    This simple demo is simply representative of course.  Our number of real paintings ~ 60, with hundreds of millions of records in a large number of tables, a tree FK covering several levels of depth, without the partition littered throughout key.  Given that the volume of data, we try hard to avoid executing DELETE, which is why I explore PARTITION migration BY reference.  The problem is not unlike the already-fixed Bug 9329773, but it is slightly different - especially that this variant is not resolved.  If there is no way that such a facility would never fly, you have any suggestions that would not involve changes to application code?  (For example, adding a partition to the tables key column kids won't fly, but I might be able to sell disabling constraints to developers.)

  • Partitioning of reference - application always accesses all partitions

    I followed the instructions to Oracle Database 11g: new features for developers and DBAS Top | Partitioning on reference partitioning and actually tried this example. If you do not want to read the details of the example here is the SQL code of two tables:

    create table customers

    (

    cust_id key primary number.

    cust_name varchar2 (200),

    side varchar2 (1) not null

    )

    list partition (side)

    (

    values of pA score ("A"),

    pB of partition values ('B')

    );

    create table sales

    (

    sales_id number primary key,

    cust_id number not null,

    sales_amt number,

    constraint fk_sales_01

    foreign key (cust_id)

    customer references

    )

    benchmark score (fk_sales_01);

    I've added a few values:

    Insert into Z_CUSTOMERS (CUST_ID, CUST_NAME, RATING) Values (1, 'John', 'A');

    Insert into Z_CUSTOMERS (CUST_ID, CUST_NAME, RATING) Values (2, 'Ben', 'B');

    Insert into Z_SALES (SALES_ID, CUST_ID, SALES_AMT) Values (10, 1, 200);

    Insert into Z_SALES (SALES_ID, CUST_ID, SALES_AMT) Values (20, 2, 500);

    Insert into Z_SALES (SALES_ID, CUST_ID, SALES_AMT) Values (30, 2, 900);

    Insert into Z_SALES (SALES_ID, CUST_ID, SALES_AMT) Values (40, 2, 250);

    COMMIT;

    Now, my understanding of the reference partitioning power comes from the fact that I run a query such as:

    Select * from z_sales where cust_id in (select cust_id in z_customers where the rating = 'A');

    It must cover a single partition in z_sales and z_customers. However, the execution plan indicates the following:

    Plan

    SELECT STATEMENT ALL_ROWSCost: 6 bytes: 108 cardinality: 2

    6 NESTED LOOPS

    Cost 4 NESTED LOOPS: cardinality of 6 bytes: 108: 2

    2 PARTITION REFERENCES all THE cost: 4 bytes: 156 cardinality: 4 Partition #: 3 Partitions accessed #1-#2

    1 TABLE ACCESS FULL TABLE ARIBA_STAR2. Z_SALES cost: 4 bytes: 156 cardinality: 4 Partition #: 3 Partitions accessed #1-#2

    3 INDEX UNIQUE INDEX (SINGLE) ARIBA_STAR2 SCAN. SYS_C003391336 cost: cardinality 0: 1

    TABLE 5 ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID TABLE ARIBA_STAR2 OVERALL. Z_CUSTOMERS cost: 1 bytes: cardinality 15: 1 Partition #: 6 Partitions accessed #1

    Two partitions in z_sales are presented.

    In fact, I tried this on the application I support (with tables of course) and it seems to have the same problem: all partitions are accessible.

    Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong here?

    Thank you!

    You are not the full story. There is an overall index, according to the execution you plan posted. In any case, works OK for me:

  • for 'partition' a bladecenter - or - how cloud computing right

    Hello

    Some customers consider a configuration large bladecenter with vmware enterprise and storage san NAS.

    from an organizational point of view, the client is divided into several, independent and small departments with own little teams, it also has a centralized IT Department.

    now, the 'question' is-how to divide the bladecenter for different teams.

    current planning is the central COMPUTING service should manage the virtual Center and storage and have "admin center role" - and each dedicated their own 2 or 3 blades and getting fewer rights in the virtual center of the get team.

    In my view, assigning dedicated to subdivisions blades is absurd (for example in a perspective of load and availability) - and buy vmware enterprise here is sorta "casting pearls before swine."

    shouldn't they better take 'cloud' approach and the partition up bladecenter set up via resource pools, each team need not care that they are on the blade?

    If so, how to convince them to proceed in this way?

    concerning

    Roland

    Never sell the concept that it's a good idea to divide the actual blades between the Department, that defeats many of its great benefits with virtualization, such as failover and load balancing features. If they can accept data for the actions of their VM (which they do already if it's on the same SAN) then have the plant IT be administrators in the environment and use the roles of vCenter (that you can also create yourself to your taste) for departments to limit their access to the machines of the other Department. For almost all objects in vCenter (clusters, pools of resources, files, VM) you can assign roles and users in this role will not see anything outside of this object. Resource pools allows you to balance resources host evenly between departments. You might even go so far as to central IT and only create virtual machines and let departments manage.

    If you have not already, I highly recommend the implementation of an Infrastructure/vSphere evaluation version to see these things in action if you don't have it already, it will help you understand the possibilities you can offer to your customers. Good luck!

  • Prevent specific users to drop the partition of table

    Hello

    I'm having the following problem: on the CUSTOMERS table, I implemented a policy that prevents specific users to delete records that have REPORT_DATE (it is a DATE column) over 2 months. Works very well.
    These users are actually "login" I identify using sys_context ('USERENV', 'OS_USER').

    However... I realized that these users can fall any partition of this table (the table partitioned BY RANGE) so the policy that I have implemented is unnecessary.

    My question: is it possible to prevent specific users to delete a partition?
    All partitions in the CUSTOMERS table are associated with a REPORT_DATE unique that's why I want to prevent the destruction of the wall that has a REPORT_DATE related more than two months...

    Thank you
    MR. R.

    Hello

    Revoke the privilege of the Oracle user who is connected. (privileges are granted to the and helped by users Oracle, no internal users that you identify well as SYS_CONTEXT.)

    If it is the owner of the schema, and then create a different pattern of all the newspapers-ins, which has only the privileges that these users must have. Modify the application so that it uses this log-in Oracle and not the owner of the table schema.

  • Extend VMFS partition alignment vs. partition

    I have a (openfiler) iSCSI storage and a host ESXi (running on its local disk) for testing.

    I tried to create VM customers and together start iSCSI. The problem I have is the alignment of partition and extend VMFS partition.

    What happens:

    If I want to align parititon, I need to go up and format the LUN with the VMFS. Therefore, the VMFS partition size is fixed. I'm able to increase the size of the LUN, but I can't do anything with regard to the size of the partition resizing VMFS.

    Another way is to report the storage for the VM client on raw storage. But this way, I can't align the partition because I can't use fdisk on raw storage on CLI.

    My question is: if I want to run SQL server, for example, and want to align the disk for the storage of data and able to rescale the size, how can I do?

    Thank you.

    I don't know exactly what you're asking, but "growing" a VMFS volume does not resize the partition, it is done by adding one "scope" (another partition) and then ESX (i) of the volume manager puts the two partitions together to make a large volume.

  • DML using the partition.

    Hello

    10.2.0.1.0 Oracle

    Is it possible to have quickly DML operation using partitions. as the update, insert, delete.

    as we do in select * partition of course (2001_pg_courses);

    kindly help.

    You don't need to explicitly select a partition.

    A partition table has 'rules' about what data go where. For example, a range may partition table have a 'rule' for a partition by day - all the lines for a day (according to table column invoice_date for example), is in a single partition. Similarly, a partitioned table list will also have a "rule", stating that the lines go in which partition.

    You can explicitly reference the score via a SQL statement as follows to find all invoices for a customer:

    select * from invoices partition (day_20110101) where customer_id = :1;

    This SQL is however not very shareable under the partition name is hardcoded. If you want to find the Bills for another day, a new brand SQL statement is necessary with hardcoded score of the day in the SQL.

    Also consider what it does to the application. User PL/SQL code can no longer use the SQL statement as is - like it needs a new SQL statement to use depending on the day. So dynamic SQL must be used - an approach complex and often creates a security risk because of risk of SQL injection.

    Or you can implicitly reference the partition using this 'rule' as part of the predicate. For example

    select * from invoices where invoice_date = :0 and customer_id = :1;

    The CBO will see invoice_date is used and he will know that it is used as the "rule of the partition. The CBO can now decide which or the partitions to use.

    The SQL that is created is shareable. We will use the same SQL in the shared pool of Oracle over and over again for customers and different days - we are not a completely new SQL for a day of different invoice.

    The PL/SQL user can now use the SQL like it - no need to use SQL dynamically and inserting the name of partition in SQL. No threat of SQL injection.

    Best of all - the PL/SQL Developer didn't need to worry how partition works, how it is applied, that partition names and so on. Standard SQL is used - as it would have been the case if the invoice table is not partitioned, or a cluster or an index organized table or anything else. The CBO has the intelligence to translate SQL into an optimal execution plan that is the most appropriate for the physical implementation table, available indexes and so on.

    The developer must only be concerned about the logic of its SQL statement - and not by the complexity of the physical implementation of the database.

  • I resized the Partition Mac to make more space for BootCamp and now Windows will not boot

    On a collague MacBook Air running 10.11.4, we used disk utility to reduce the Mac Partition so that we could then use a Windows tool to extend the BootCamp partition. However, upon restart, we got a BACK screen with the error that Windows cannot start because it cannot find the boot device.

    Help, please?

    This is not a mechanism supported by Apple to change the size of the Windows partition. Apple supports the remove/reinstall only.

    We try to remedy. Please after the release of the following OSX Terminal commands.

    diskutil list

    Cs diskutil list

    sudo TPG - vv - r see the/dev/disk0

    sudo fdisk/dev/disk0

    What is the model/year of the MBA? Please, do not post the serial number of your Mac. Orders 'sudo' will ask for your password.

  • Bootcamp Windows - partition cannot be mounted

    Hey all,.

    I've been using Windows on my iMac (late 2012, Yosemite 10.10.5) without problem but today after I started MacOS Yosemite (to control simple file), cannot start again to return to Windows. Had no problem Bootcamp before... have not used to any advantage either 3rd disk utility. The only thing I have recently increased the Windows size 200 GB partition by decreasing the MacOS partition through disk utility (a month ago, no problem since then until today)

    1. Windows has disappeared from the startup disk

    2. disk utility shows disk0s4 gray and cannot be mounted. In addition, the correct partition size was 700 but here its listed as 500 GB GB (which was the old size before you increase it)

    3 when I try to restart with pressed ALT, Windows, but cannot restart, with a black screen showing "a disk error occurred.

    I'm not very familiar with techniques more. Only, I tried to install "Find" but cannot achieve anything with it.

    I tried your advice above and seems THAT NTFS is there...

    one last thing... when I try to check disk0s4, said "it should be repaired. When I hit repair; It says this:

    Need my Windows as soon as POSSIBLE, what more should I do?

    I don't have not upgraded to Sierra again. That I should? Or it will be even worse?

    I have tons of files on Windows that I need and unfortunately not supported for a while anywhere (sorry about that now).

    Help, please...

    stuff more to indicate...

    and I know if it's significant but cmd + s & ' fsck - fy "has not done anything other than check the Mac partition.

  • Bootcamp partition no longer works

    I decided one day that I tried to install Ubuntu on my Macbook.  At the point where I had an OSX and a partition, Bootcamp for Windows 10.  I followed the instructions to install rEFInd to install Ubuntu, but had trouble with her and decided to uninstall.  I made a mistake when uninstalling and may have accidentally deleted a small partition that I thought was part of the Ubuntu installation.

    Now, when I try to boot into Windows, I get an error that tells me to use a recovery disk:

    Error recovery:

    0xc000000e

    I created a Windows 10 bootable USB installation to try to repair the installation, I ran the diagnostic startup a few times, but not yet able to boot into Windows.

    Now, Boot Camp disk no longer display when I run startup disk.  He always shows up when I hold the Alt key when turning on/off, I just always get error 0xc000000e.

    Help, please!

    MacBook Pro 15 "retina end of 2013

  • We can establish a common partition for Mac OS and Windows Boot Camp

    I'm new to Mac, so please excuse my ignorance.

    I have a MacBookPro 11 mid-2015 with 512 GB SSD and 16 GB of RAM.

    I have Mac OS X El Capitan and that you have installed 10 Windows using the Boot Camp utility on a 150 GB partition. I wanted a common partition on exFAT which could serve as a repository for my data either of the OS. My intention - 150 GB for Mac OS - 200 GB of data - 150 GB for Windows 10. How can this be achieved?

    Earlier, after the Boot Camp, I reduced the Mac OS to 350 GB partition to 150 GB and released 200 GB. Formatting this turned me expensive because it stopped my Windows to start. Repair it was a waste of time and effort. I draw the hard Windows on a Mac is sensitive to changes in the partition.

    In addition, is using Virtual Box better than Boot Camp? I don't have as much virtualized environments.

    Please advice.

    You can connect an external drive of ExFat formatted. The OSX and Windows can read/write on a disk formatted ExFat.

    A virtual machine has its advantages, as does a Boot Camp facility. A virtual machine allows the simultaneous OS, any necessary initialization to change operating systems. Data can be shared between operating systems more easily. Computer such as memory resources are shared in a VM for applications environment to run slower.

    Installation of Boot Camp allows Windows to run in native mode by using all of the system resources, so apps will go faster. But to change operating systems, a reboot is required. It is more difficult to share data.
