Partitions of disk utility 2 combined with data loss

I have a 1.5 TB drive external that I use 1 TB for Time Machine, 480ish Go for some storage media and then I got a score of ~ 20 GB with Yosemite on this. I decided that I is more to Yosemite partition so open THE and got rid of the partition of Yosemite. When it was done the space in the partition was dumped on the storage partition. So far so good.

Why the media stored on the storage partition is gone? I don't mess with this partition at all, except to add the deleted partition.

I was hoping to get a clue of what I could do to recover directories for these data. I am relatively sure that I do not erase, but somehow combining both partitions clogged the directory (I think) and the data are, therefore, more "Visual". The data are mainly video I have saved over the years and am not prepared to lose if it can be helped.

Any contribution is appreciated.

Your screen capture, you must delete the partition OSX 10.9. The space would be free and you can then develop your OS x 10.10 partition or create a new one from the free space. The only one of these two who seem to be able to resize is the OSX 10.9 partition because it has the grab bar (lower-right) and free space further to slide down.

Exp/imp will not result in data "lossy" condition that the process ran correctly - in fact, it's the recommended way to change charactersets. See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10729/ch11charsetmig.htm#CEGCHGIJ.

Is there a reason exp/imp has been used on the DBUA preferred method for the upgrade?

Even if it is very slow, you must make a return upwards before the race "repair disk". The risk of data loss is minimal, but do it anyway: Save and run to repair the disk.

As for what it implies - most of the time nothing more than simply sitting and waiting to do his thing.

I was going to fix the partition table that caused problems with the boot, but when I loaded the Recovery Mode the thing wouldn't start and cling to a completed loading bar (with the apple logo, it took a lot of time to get the bar too full).

So, I deleted the recovery partition HD and reinstalled OSX to retrieve. Problem is, he does not come back. Right now I have 4 partitions - disk0s1 is EFI disk0s2 is Macintosh HD disk0s3 is Untitled (free space), disk0s4's Bootcamp.

The way is to not lose data have a current backup plan in place.  How to create a clone of startup

SIP is the Protection of the integrity of the system and is a security featutre is not supposed to be cancelled esp of the 'system' you are primed to which would frustrate the object, so it must be done in an another boot drive - in your case.

Your best bet is maybe to start int Internet recovery - this is done by now the keys option command R to reboot.  And go from there.

  • error message on disk utility

I have OS X El Capitan, version 10.11.2.  I tried to open disk utility to perform repairs because I get the message error 'you cannot use the "Disk Utility.app" application with this version of Mac OS X. You have a 'Disk Utility.app"11.1. "How can I get to work disk utility?

I am trying to run the utility disk to see if it needs repairs because when I try to save a word document I get another pop up "Word has insufficient memory." He asks me if I want to save the document under failback.   If I click on Yes, I receive another message which reads "Word cannot save...".  Please close a window"and so on.

I would appreciate any advice to one of these messages.

If you run El Capitan, then you have chosen the wrong version of disk utility. You need one that would be installed by El Capitan. If you run Yosemite, and then you attempt to start the El Capitan. In my view, 11.1 is the version of Yosemite. Check on the Mac to check that you are running El Capitan. If you are, then you must reinstall so you will have its own version of disk utility.

  • Disk utility will not let me click on the partition.

I've updated to El Capitan, disk utility since refuses to let me click on partition.

Accidentally, I partitioned my disk flash before I updated and so I need to cancel, because now I have 200 MB of storage on it.

I tried using terminal but I have been unable to fix this way, too.

Can someone help me with this?

    Thank you

Make sure that all your files are backed up. Accidents happen and I'd hate for you to lose all data.

Are you trying to repartition the boot disk? If I understand correctly, your hard disk is currently partitioned, and you need to recover a single correct hard drive?

You can't repair the disk hard while you use the hard disk. To get the partition on a single disk, boot from the recovery disc.

Restart the computer and press immediately on and hold command-R until you see a loading bar, and then release the keys. Once the recovery disc starts, choose your language (if it asks you to) and then again open disk utility. Now, select your hard drive and delete the extra partition. It should tell you "this will not affect your files...". "but if he says that you will lose all data, STOP. Make sure that you remove the extra partition without data on this subject. I'm guessing that it's called "Untitled 1" or something that affects unless you named it something different.

  • Disk utility OSX not letting u/c partition names

I recently changed the HARD drive on my Macbook Pro to a crucial SSD 1 TB.  At the time I thought that the HARD drive was faulty so used the Mac online recovery to reinstall the original OSX (Mountain Lion).  When I appointed the SSD partition it only let me use the upper case for the name of the partition.   I had already improved Cougar to the Mavericks so there were a few problems with some on application data, so I decided to do a new install directly from Time Machine.  This good all looked and noticed that Time Machine renamed partition SSD the original name of the disk partition HARD and that this name was a mixture of upper case and lower case letters.

After that, I decided it would be useful to have a second external USB backup drive, but for the second disc I tried to partition the drive into three partitions all formatted in Mac OS X extended (journaled).  More utility disk once only would allow me to only use capitals in partition names.

Since OSX is happily using the partition with uppercase letters and lowercase names I'm puzzled what disk utility is forcing me to use uppercase letters.  The only thing I can think is that SSD and USB disk could have been previously formatted with FAT32 and it was inhibiting the disk utility.  Does anyone have ideas better?

Here's the new disks that are not configured for Macs. Follow these steps:

    Drive partition and format

    1. open utility disk from the Applications\utilitaires folder.

    2. after disk utility charges select the new SSD entry (this is the entrance Out-bumpy with of the mfgr.) ID and size) in the list on the left. Click the Partition tab in the main window of disk utility.

    3. in the title of the Volume entitled plan set the number of partitions in the menu drop-down one. Click the Options button, set the GUID partition scheme, and then click the OK button. Set the type of Mac OS extended (journaled) format. Click on the apply button and wait until the process is complete.

    Repeat for the USB drive.

  • Disk utility was unable to repair the Time Machine USB2 external HARD disk partition?

    Hello.

My client has problem with its USB2 500 GB Seagate FreeAgent Go since early 2010. There 2 partitions: FAT32 and HFS (for most Time Machine backups). After connection and enter its password valid successfully, it takes a minute to set up, and then a message that says "OS X cannot repair the «...» "You can still open or copy the files on the disk, but you cannot save changes to the files on the disc. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can. "I ran disk with their verification utility. Both are problems with "invalid sibling link" and said the repair option. However, this repair option is grayed out.  So, is it not possible to fix it with free software on the disk except for the reformat?

I used two different 15 "MacBook Pro (Mac OS X v10.8.5/Mt. mid-2012 lion and v10.10.5/Yosemite of the early 2013) with the same results, is not the MacBook Pros. http://imgur.com/a/OW0s6 for a couple screen
s (shooting/capture) of Mac OS X v10.10.5/Yosemite. I also tried disk on its FAT32 partition checks, and found minor problems. They were repairable too unlike the encrypted HFS partition.

    Thank you in advance.

Disk utility can't repair an error of invalid sibling link. You use Disk Warrior that assuming that the disk is always good. Otherwise, you will need to save what you can then reformat the hard drive. Exactly what the error message said.

  • Cannot use disk utility to create the partition of the free space on the external USB drive.

I have a red 3 TB Western Digital drive in a USB hard drive docking station.

The reader is GPT, and I have two volumes on it (a single volume is "Microsoft reserved", another volume is NTFS).

The other part of my drive is 1.5 TB of free space. I want to create a new partition with free space so that I can put backups Time Machine encrypted external hard disk.

I checked free space on the drive with my Windows machine:

    DISKPART> list disk

Disk ### Status Size Free Dyn Gpt

    -------- ------------- ------- ------- --- ---

    Disk 0 Online 167 GB 20 GB

    Disk 1 Online 465 GB 0 B *

    Disk 2 Online 2794 GB 1526 GB *

    DISKPART> select disk 2

Disk 2 is now the selected disk.

    DISKPART> list part

    Partition ### Type Size Offset

    ------------- ---------------- ------- -------

    Partition 1 Reserved 128 MB 17 KB

    Partition 2 Primary 1267 GB 129 MB

    DISKPART>

DiskPart displays 2 partitions - a 128 MB and the other GB 1267 with 1526 MB of free space.

I took the hard drive of my MacBook Pro running OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 and pulled towards the high disk utility, but for some reason, that it does not resemble the disk utility it is to see the free space, so I can't create a new volume.

    Here are a few screenshots:

I'm a new Mac user. My company recently gave me a Mac, so the first thing I want to do is to create a new partition on this external USB drive to put backups Time Machine figures on it.

In the research I did find a way to do it on a mac computer without erasing the drive and starting over. But you can go to your windows computer and partition the free space of disks. Then use the mac to set the free space as mac os extended journaled. Here's what I found. http://www.PCWorld.com/article/2066191/how-to-partition-a-hard-drive.html the only other way would be to copy the file on the external drive, somewhere, so you can delete it and re partition for windows and mac. Then reinstall windows files. I'm not familiar with windows systems.

  • Burn a DVD with "disk utility".

Before El Capitan (10.11.2), I was able to burn a DVD using "disk utility".  Here are the instructions that I used.  Disk utility has now a new version Version 15.0 (1511.3) and the statement no longer work.  Can anyone update these instructions?

    Copy DVD

Follow these instructions to make a copy of your DVD unprotected:

Insert your DVD into your Mac. Most Macs will automatically launch the DVD player. Once he starts, he gave up. You should see your DVD drive mounted on your desktop.

Open disk utility (Applications > utilities). Select the DVD drive in the list on the left. You will notice that there are two DVD icons - select the one slightly indented (this is the DVD itself, while the first is the drive).

Click on "New Image" in the main window of disk utility.

Choose a name and a destination in the window "Save as...". ». Don't forget that your destination should have enough space to copy the whole DVD, which can be more than four concerts.

In the window "Save as...". ', to ensure that the selection 'Format of Image' is set to ' CD/DVD Master' and the selection of "Encryption" is set to 'none '. Click Save.

After you have copied the DVD in your destination drive, return to disk utility. Your new disk Image will appear in the list on the left side of the disk utility window. The original disc of DVD on your Mac.

Insert a DVD disc that is accessible by writing in your Mac. Select your disk Image created in the list on the left side of the disk utility window. Click on "Burn" in the main window of disk utility. Choose your burn speed and if you want to check the data burned.

You will receive confirmation once you the DVD are engraved with success and you are all set with a new copy of your DVD drive. Just save your new disk Image and you can make a copy whenever you may need.

That is right. Apple has removed this feature FROM.

You can do it from the Finder
