Password reset help?

A few things to know:

I have NOT forgotten my password. However, this morning when I went to log on to Windows Vista HP, it decided to deny me and tell me that my password was incorrect. I spent hours today reading messages other people on command prompt and recovery CD and restore to factory default.

No, caps lock shift has nothing to do with the question.

I would prefer not to spend money on it, and I would also prefer not to lose all my files on my administrator account. I'm also sure it's one of those things that Microsoft is not really allowed to answer.

I have a guest account, but not one with administrative powers.

I don't have a Vista CD I use, my computer came with Vista already loaded on it.

I'm looking for a very detailed response to language. Someone you can help a tech-inept person.

This Vaio from Sony disc must be provided with the recovery disc or you made for your machine to reinstall Vista from the recovery partition.

Normally just recovery disks do a reinstall back to factory settings. in other words, how you buy it.

Which is a way out, if you can back up your data, even if it's your time.

You have looked at the options in the drive of Vaio now anyway.

With this option "Data Rescue", if it was on the drive recovery Sony Vaio (HP etc. has that, too) which is a Sony Vaio option, not a Windows Vista one.

If something went wrong with your data, you would need support of Sony Vaio to untangle their data backup process.

Unfortunately, business machines such as Probooks or EliteBook have more strict security consumption patterns - they do not produce "stop codes", the password cannot be derived from the serial number and the code is stored in a nonvolatile memory to remove the RTC cell does not reset the password in this case.

If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to send you a file custom SMC.bin that you can use to reset the password at startup.

Reset the Microsoft connected account password

HP recommends using a Microsoft account connected (MSA) to log Windows.
