Pavilion 9000 Webcam

I was given a Pavilion 9000 and it has a webcam.  I allowed him by going to devices, but after that manager who can't seem to find how to use effectively or even know how to open it.

Frustrated...

David

So I downloaded Skype and it worked.  I guess you have to do something so he could activate.  Thank you!!

  • of HP Pavilion laptop webcam problem

I have a hp Pavilion dx6665ca with Vista and all the service packs and updates of the firmware & bios.  In recent months, every time I have open or close the lid, I get a notification on the toolbar by saying: "unrecognized usb device".  It looks like this:

    http://imgur.com/0eOrQ.jpg

It was annoying, but nothing seemed to be irrelevant.  I also have a problem where the left side of the screen will sometimes flicker and go almost black, then I thought it might have something to do with it, but it was intermittent.

I recently tried to use the webcam and it was not detected by the software. After you have checked in Device Manager, I realized it wasn't showing up there under imaging devices, as it should:

    http://imgur.com/Z9j86.jpg

I have the impression that the "unknown device" under the controllers USB is the camera, but Vista does not know what it is.

I tried the new firmware, software, uninstall and reinstall all usb devices and drivers, nothing seems to work.  I always get the message "unrecognized usb device" if every time I open or close the lid.

If the Device Manager it detects not after all these attempts, am I experiencing a hardware problem?  My warranty expired 2 months ago is there no matter what chance hp will fix this issue, I see so many posts and it seems to be a widespread hardware issue?

    Any contribution is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, I saw some people posted again so I thought I would add a few things...

Since my last post, I replaced my inverter display twice and my Webcam once. I think that following these two parties do not and one of them more than once, that we can logically deduce that there is a problem with the amount of energy supplied to these two devices.  They are powered by the same connector and I bet that these hardware components fail after that.  Even now, on my THIRD Board(original +2) Inverter it is still flickering. Short of replacing the machine, you can replace these components.

You have two choices: pay to have someone else fix it or do it yourself.  If your idea of a screwdriver is a butterknife, pay someone else.  If you are confident, smart and willing to learn, you can do it yourself.  You could ruin your machine if you screw up, but I promise you that's not so difficult.  For model Pavilion dx6000, look on ebay for the following:

Camera Module-part # 446486-001. A simple installation with the right tools. Do not break the legs that hold the bezel (frame) plastic around the screen or the lid does not close.

Display the converter DC-AC-part # 431391-001. This one is a little harder to install, but you have to be patient and VERY CAREFUL NOT to BREAK THE TAPE.

Here is the link for the manual.  The title is different by model number, but the procedure is the same, including the reference numbers:

    http://h20000.www2.HP.com/BC/docs/support/SupportManual/c01178385/c01178385.PDF

To replace the camera module, go to page 37.

For Inverter Board replacement, go to page 39.

    I hope this helps.

  • Pavilion dv6 Webcam does not?

I have a Pavilion dv6-1030 ca laptop, and since a few weeks, I had trouble with my webcam. When I open the HP MediaSmart Webcam, I get the following error message: "no video device detected. Please connect a video device to your computer. If you are using a built-in camera, please make sure that it is turned on. "I have a built-in camera, and (usually) lights up when the webcam application opens. I am running Windows Vista with SP1 and tried many things to fix it, nothing helps. The webcam does not appear in the device, under imaging devices Manager, nor any of the Hubs USB root. So far I have tried:

-Reinstalled the drivers of USB root hub

-A tried to fix the solution in the BIOS (that another thread suggested)
-A tried to use Recovery Manager to reinstall the driver (wasn't in the list)

-The recovery disks created to solve the problem (it didn't)

    -Updated the MediaSmart Webcam software

I'm at school right now, and I can't really afford to give my phone to obtain compensation for three weeks since I have exams coming. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Don't pay fees to repair overpriced... it happened to dv6 my boss, lift just the frame surrounding the top and sides.  You don't need a crowbar on the bottom of the frame.  Use your nails under the inside edge of the frame, they have adhesive tape double-sided, so it can be a little difficult to dislodge.  Lift slowly so that the band can separate on its own.  Don't force quickly or you could damage it.  Make sure you are not prying the metal frame silver of the LCD, only the black plastic frame.  There are hooks plastic that will make a click sound when you lift up the frame, it will need a strength, so don't be afraid if you hear the wink, he should be able to put it back together if you did it correctly, otherwise you will need to use some tape to tape the rear frame, better than paying $100 +... haha.  Once you have pryed on the top of the frame and have access to the webcam module, you should see the cable going into it from the bottom, push the cable into the webcam, then see if the problem is resolved, the cable most likely just came loose.  If that solved the problem, I suggest to use something you can remove, as hot glue to hold it together, just in case the webcam really needs to be replaced, you can melt the glue wide and swap out.

If your microphone works very well and just the webcam does not work, then the problem is most likely a driver problem, or the webcam itself somehow has been damaged, which is highly unlikely.

Hello.  After several back-and-successive, customer relationship Skype sent me the link depending on where you can get an older version of Skype (4.2.0.187) and many other software if you need. http://www.oldapps.com/Skype.php  I installed it and the audio and video are working as it should with the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 and Windows XP.

  • HP Pavilion dv6707us webcam corrupted by Vista updates.

My HP Pavilion dv6707us says «unrecognized webcam»  I tried the driver updates - but because the webcam is not recognized - it can not download updates.  I read online that this was due to the automatic updates of Windows Vista (Home Premium).  How can I fix?

    Hello Sue_991,

I suggest that you download the software from the HP Web site and install. It will automatically load the drivers. Here is a link you can follow to download and install the software:

  • HP Pavilion DM4 - webcam software?

    Hello.  HP Virgin here

I work with an organization that has a range of HP laptops and even if the built-in webcams work with Skype, etc the problem is that Windows 7 and 8 have been installed on these machines and the software installed at the factory existin today disappeared.

Not fair to say there was a software factory for different uses of the built-in webcam?

If so, can you point me in the right direction to reinstall it?

    Hi vegetarianator,

I think what you're looking for is the following: Software Cyberlink YouCam - it's the webcam HP software offers for download.

If you have problems with the webcam itself, I have also included a troubleshooting document you can keep on hand: HP Webcam troubleshooting

    Hope that helps

  • Pavilion 6000 webcam stop working?

I tried to get information on this, and it seems maybe the HP drivers must be installed vista drivers.  BTW, this is regarding the integrated HP webcam.  I've been to the hp page and checked for the youcam software, but it will not install because it says it cannot detect any installed webcam.  I made the HP health check and nothing, I did the update of HP and nothing, even windows updates and nothing.  When I go into my device manager, there is NOT a webcam shown!  This laptop is old, less than a year, what the hell is happening?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Web Cam are listed under "Imaging devices" in device Manager.

Do you know how to enter the bios?  F2 for Setup when you turn on your machine.  Takes you to the configuration of the blue Bios screen.  The cam can be turned off in the bios.  At the bottom tells you which keys to use to navigate through the bios Setup program.  You must exit and SAVE settings if you change one.

The second thing, if you tryied the driver from the HP website and it will not be installed...

    Device Manager-

Check your USB port "USB HUB ROOT" 'do a right click then properties, then Goto power up' see if you can find the cam connected in one of these centers.  You can have up to 8 of them, so look at each of them.

You may uninstall the USB hub driver, and then restart your machine.  Need to reinstall all the USB ports after restart.

Then see if windows will detect your cam after that.

Also make sure you have windows SP2 Service pack 2 or 3 installed.  My computer, do a right click, properties.  Windows Version is in the list.

Check the event viewer for system errors.  Control Panel, administrative tools, event viewer.  System or applications dealing with your Cam Driver or hardware.

  • Pavilion dv7 webcam

    Hello

I just bought the laptop and my webcam is not recognized by Skype.  Does anyone have any suggestions? It's my first time using Skype and the first time with a web cam so not sure if I need to do something.  I see myself in the web cam but if not sure why Skype does not recognize.

    Thank you!

    1. Connect to Skype and on the Tools menu, select Options....
    2. Under the video settings, if you have a webcam connected, you will see a live image of your webcam.
    3. If necessary, and if you have multiple webcams connected to your computer, select a Webcam HP in the drop-down list.
    4. Click Save.

Most likely the module webcam up upstairs behind the screen bezel went wrong. Very common. Other scenarios, such as the bad cable are possible, but not probable. Hi JohnnBoyyy,

    1. you receive messages or error codes?

Given that the problem started after installing the windows updates, you can check the updates of windows for optional updates for the webcam.

For more information, see the article:

    Install Windows updates

You can also check the HP website and try to update the latest version of the drivers for the webcam and check.

  • Possible causes of RAM use variances

It's newbie question General on the factors affecting the use of ram.

Running Vista on a HP Pavilion 9000 series Board 1.6 ghz AMD Turion 64

Total 2 gig ram in two slots.

Here's my question: my consumption of ram count tells me that ram ranges from 30% to 55% of use.

There is no major applications running and all my background programs and the system seem to be the same.

Any ideas as to the use of the ram on what are the effects?  I have an access broadband cable Time Warner.

Is traffic a factor, even if I am not under all applications outside Windows and background stuff.

Thank you for your ideas in advance, are there ways to mitigate this side unnecessary closure

processes such as the sidebar, media library, etc.

Vista has a lot about the background and really needs a minimum of 2 GB of RAM to work properly, and that's what you see. Vista itself uses 30% of the RAM or about 600 MB of RAM. You can see why he's been a disaster to sell computers with 512 MB RAM Vista and now you won't see any new computer Vista with less than 2 GB. Processes that are bumping the up to 50% at idle RAM usage are probably the backup and auto defragmentation and other features of Vista. You can turn them off or change them and make more memory available for your use. Try these ten settings and see what happens to the use of the RAM:

    http://mostlysavingmoney.com/top-10-Windows-Vista-speed-tweaks/

You can ignore one on the help of a stick of memory to boost performance. Studies have shown that we are not effective, but if you run the other 9 you will get a much faster and less annoying Vista system.

If you run the HP factory installation you should also try to run a program called PC Decrapifier, which sounds a bit risky, but is in fact a free very well respected. Just google it like that and download and install and remove a lot of the version test and your laptop bloatware.
