Pavilion dv6 3104sl: HP bundled SW/Suites after upgrade to win 10?

Hello everyone,

After weeks and weeks of indecision, I (enough) finally decided to upgrade my laptop for Windows 10.

There are still a lot of dark on the process, for example the reason why MS is so soft gift us with their precious and final OS... But part of it, for me sometime ago, in particular, to think about: HP preinstalled SW on the machine. Despite my initial opinion, I became more and more dependent of Cyberlink DVD Suite, LightScribe and so forth, so if update to win 10 means I'm losing all these programs, it's likely that I'll not update then.

I am writing here to hear about you, people of HP, if someone had problems with this kind of software after update.

Thank you all,.
David

Dear PeerOne,

Thank you again for your response, you me rightly made aware of all aspects of the update to Windows 10 and that was useful.

I decided to update, accepting the risks that you mentioned and fortunately everything went well. I have no problem so far, nor with AMD driver (the former catalyst did not work everything first, but windows promplty it automatically replaced with the latest version of) and switchable graphics, which in fact work perfectly.

On my original problem, I am happy to see that my programs, including Cyberlink, are still there, functional.

I write this report, it may be useful for people like me, ready to update the hope. It would also be useful to know that I have taken the following precautions:

  • Multiple image disk, data backup Windows and no coded backup the most important files
  • Msconfig-> normal start-up (all licensed services), reboot, then install
  • Updated using the update Microsoft compact (7 MB)
  • PC offline during the process
  • Without protection antivirus during the process
  • After update, PC left for updates and automatic update of the driver/sw. Several manual reboot.
  • Checked manually to some driver updates (for example, an AMD: windows said the base driver has been mounted) by using the Device Manager utility

I still thank the community for support!

David

  • HP Pavilion dv6-3150us Notebk: space low disk after upgrade to version 1607 Windows10

In the month of August I have improved my laptop Windows 7 Home Premium Windows 10.  Everything worked fine for a month now until Windows 10 1607 version has been highly recommended by people of Windows 10.

After having updated with all updates faithfully, but as soon as I tried (four times) to install Windows 10 1607 version, then the step of time again to return to the previous version of Windows.  Then I hit a brick wall.  I always get the error message: "low disk space".  And Windows is continuously remind upgrade me to 1607. As in the famous movie, it's a catch-22 situation.

I read part of the help Forum and led to a link suggested by a member of the staff of HP as the only resolution available.  The link for this low disk space error problem is http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03736755.

I translated the link Windows 7 instructions in organization style Windows of problem resolutions 10 and is in the section "Files and folders" and then followed the steps in Windows 7.  But I always hit a brick wall.  In the view of files hidden on my recovery disk (drive D I checked I didn't backup any personal files to occupy space unnecessarily.)  I also emptied the previous system restore and just did a new restoration of the system.  But still the same problem.  It seems I need to extend my recovery disk for Windows 10 version 1607.  But by following the steps in the evolution of my partitions, the option to extend the recovery disc has been shaded and so available.

Is it possible to enlarge my recovery disk? This laptop is great and has a lot of life left.  I don't want to have to buy a new one just to work on this problem of low disk space error.

Desperately need help because it is the only computer for our family.

Sorry do not provide the follow-up to resolution as soon as possible.  Here's how my problem was resolved:

I asked my son to help IT specialist.  He re-partitioned my computer using a free software tool (AOMEI Partition Wizard Standard Edition).    I choose to add 50 GB of my unit (recovery drive) which then totaled 68 GB for this drive. because I wanted to ensure this problem wouldn't come back and I had space to work with.

I have worked with this resolution now for about a month and have a zero problem.  What I noticed, was that after a few weeks 10 Windows should have automatically cleared out my previous updates because Windows Explorer now shows that this drive has a file size a total space of 68 and 51 GB that is not used which brings my use of the reader to 17 GB.

I am guessing that before Windows 10 empty automatically previous updates that he needed somewhere between 20-25 Go make the final version of 1607 upgrade and retain earlier versions (for me to return to the previous editions).   Then the end of the period of time to return 10 Windows must have automatically deleted my previous editions and just kept upgrading version of 1607.  In hindsight I would have added 50 GB on my drive - on another 10-12 GB would have been more than enough for this transition period to work.

Finally I am EXTREMELY well pleased I did the update of Windows 10 and then added the update of the birthday Version (1607).   I like the added security features and a large number of features and benefits.

    Hope this helps others.

Hi, John. It's quite nervous of a member of the MS forum say that Dell is responsible to operate Windows. It wasn't Dell but MS who claims that Win10 has most of the necessary drivers and if not then the drivers Win7 and Win8.1 would work.

I was hoping that maybe Dell could find in the goodness of their hearts to a updated driver IDT 92HDxxx... pretty please?

I doubt that it is possible for two reasons. Dell went from IDT Realtek as the audio seller so probably not more a a contract with IDT, if IDT even exist anymore. A year ago IDT was acquired by another company. I do not know its current status, but it is sure that the acquiring company will not be upgrading old software IDT. Reference Dell itself does not write the audio drivers. Even when IDT was the seller I believe that Win7 drivers are the final versions - no version 8 or 8.1 I think.

The native Windows audio driver can't stand struggling external mic. It is a MS 'known problem '. MS must implement a decision-making support, but there is no indication that it will be. Meanwhile, you have two workaround solutions. You can switch backwards between the natives and the IDT drivers. At some point Win10 could leave the IDT driver works correctly. Or get an outlet cheap usb audio to the microphone. Struggling running out-audio driver usb Windows native usb and so dependent no driver IDT.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-3150us Entertainment Notebook not start after sitting on the side.

Hello! I have a HP Pavilion dv6-3150us Entertainment Notebook that works under Windows 7. Last week, I traveled with him in Florida, and when I arrived and tried to turn on the laptop, it wouldn't start. The screen was white with thin lines going through it and the screen turned slowly black. I disassembled the computer and put it back together (which I have experience with, I installed a new fan at the beginning of last year) and he came in safe mode. This ihappened still once I put the laptop in my bag on back and then he pulled out a few minutes later (without even moving) and when I got home. I tested the hard drive and memory, and they both passed. Other that this question, the computer has worked fine. I need to get this problem solved, because I am a PhD student and travel frequently with your laptop. Could someone help me please? What causes this problem? Thank you.

The month after my warranty was up (January 2013) my laptop started getting blue screens that would freeze the laptop.  He has never published a journal of the accident.  I ran the recovery disk and restored to factory condition.  He worked for a few weeks then happens again.  I've tried everything.  Test drive are good after restoring to factory State, but after a blue screen, I can no longer run test.  I have restored at least 4 times.  Now my laptop is not working even in safe mode, and it will not work the recovery.  I read to try to install windows 7 from a windows disk, but that will not work without the driver for the hard disk, that I can't go anywhere.  With all the problems that I have just read on this laptop, why HP does not solve this or making it right?  I have a Toshiba laptop which has worked for 7 years. • HP Pavilion DV6-6117dx - horizontal flickering lines appear after the display turns off automatically

The DV6-6117dx model (as well as other HP Pavilion laptops) have experienced a problem where the screen will display a flickering, horizontal line to the top of the screen, after it has been automatically disabled (note: not in sleep or Standby Mode).

There is a setting to "off the display of [X] minutes" in power options.  I have my DV6-6117dx value dim the screen after 10 minutes and turn it off after 15 minutes of inactivity.  Sometimes, but not always, when I move the mouse to turn the screen back on, a couple of flickering horizontal lines will appear at the top of the screen.  It is very annoying, and the only way to remove them and to have the screen back to normal is one.) put the computer to sleep and wake it or b.) restart the entire system.

Everything by putting the laptop to sleep and wake-up is not a huge problem, I wouldn't do that, period.  I owned a laptop Toshiba for about 6 years and never had a problem with her like this (the reason why I bought a new laptop was because my old man was 6 years old and the technology was outdated a lot, a lot).

HP says it's a software problem, but it did come with a way to fix it yet (at least not that I've found).  I ask all the 'Experts' out there if they have a final way to solve this common issue experienced by some models of HP laptops?  I said to uninstall and reinstall video drivers without success.  I said to install video drivers only to AMD, and then only to HP, and then only from Windows Update, but none of these solutions worked.  I said to update BIOS, but it does not solve the problem.  I told him to try to restore the system to the factory settings, but this did not help.  It is obviously a software problem, but nobody at HP seems to have a definitive solution, how to fix it.  Is my only hope to return to my laptop to be replaced by a different model entirely?

I hope that someone out there has an answer, it's a common issue that I know a lot of owners of portable HP experienced.  Thank you!

    Hello

Here's another solution, that you could use.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( it must be the same version that originally came with your laptop - IE Windows 7 Home Premium ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Images of Windows 7.

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

  • Pavilion P6130F blue screen after upgrade to Win 7 because of the NVIDIA graphic card

My computer was working fine under Vista 64-bit. I got the upgrade CD Win 7 64 bit. The installation went well. But after a few days I get BSOD. The computer hangs at random: opening Visual Studio or even open a folder. The graphics card shows as NVidia GeForce 9100 in the Device Manager. I downloaded and installed the latest driver from HP site. That did not help. Then I installed the latest driver from NVidia site itself; This file is named: 195.62_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_english_whql.exe, but that did not help either one.

Taskbark of the window has a message that 'graphic NVIdia has stopped working"and then recommend downloading drivers.

    Hello:

If you are ready to roll the dice, see if it works...

Try direct download and immediate upgrade method.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/w indows10

I think you can use W7 32 bit nForce 430 chipset driver, it might work.

You may need to install the driver manually if automatic installation method does not work.

While I am not employed by, nor do I represent HP, I can almost guarantee you that nobody will develop W8.1 or W10 graphics card or chipset drivers.

You'd have to roll back to W7, if the suggestion above does not work.

My new Yoga 2 Pro has a secondary display connected via micro HDMI port. He first worked as a charm. But after upgrading to new Windows 8.1 (this is done automatically) it is no longer produced anything to micro HDMI port. Display and the cable is fully functional. But even if the screen is turned on, the computer is unable to save and apparently it cannot display anything. Micro HDMI port seems to be non-existent.

After upgrade of windows, I tried to uninstall / reinstall the display driver. I also upgraded to Win 8.1 Intel drivers versions found on the support site of Lenovo (including the BIOS display driver Intel HD 4400 15.33.18.64.3496 and chipset 9.4.0.1026, 76CN38). But nothing seems to work.

A solution in the forum is to change the cable, but I think that there is no sense here that the cable worked perfectly until the upgrade.

    Can anyone suggest a solution?
