  • creating recovery media after upgrade to 8.1 window

Hello friends. I have a lot of confusion. I bought a laptop on December 2012 with window 8 preinstalled and created the recovery media about 6 or 7 months later. And now, I upgraded my system to window the window store 8.1. And now again I would create a recovery media for windows 8.1. So my question is if I create recovery media on a flash drive usb and if in the future I want to reset my pc or reinstall my system, I'll make window 8 or 8.1 on my system. I'm not a computer expert. If anyone can help me please. Thank you.

    Hello:

    You will get Windows 8.

If you want to do a recovery W8.1 image you can do the following...

You can create a system image in W8.1 and save it on a portable hard drive or set of DVD as you might in W7.

Instead of making a bootable cd as in W7, you need a boot flash drive boot. You can use a flash drive to very small capacity (256 MB) for the startup recovery W8 flash player.

Check out these links for more information.

Create the image of the W8.1 system:

    http://www.hanselman.com/blog/CreateACompleteSystemImageBackupWithWindows81AndFileHistory.aspx

Create bootable W8.1 flash player to access the system image.  Don't forget, you can use this drive, you can boot from it and access the system image you created on DVD or a portable USB hard drive.

  • 500 - 81ea: create recovery media after upgrade to windows 10

I created a USB recovery when I used my PC (using the 8.1 window)

I had a time to use it to perform a destructive restore but then had to wait for all the upgrades automatically install to get me back to where I was and of course all my other software such as iTunes and music, photos, etc.  Checking to see if I can upgrade to windows 10 I was informed that my windows was not up to date and that I didn't know the logo windows at the bottom right of the screen. I have now been in the screen of windows update and installed quite a few updates and now have the upgrade of windows application.  My question is if I upgrade to windows 10 and then must perform a full recovery can I do new media of recovery or I'll have to go back to windows 8.1 using my existing media and then updateHP software and windows 8.1 and upgrade to windows 10 and the free update will be always available or is there a way I can create new media recovery to allow me to recover Windows 10 OR an altrnative goes back to the creation of a backup drive on an external hard drive and a way to get this image on my HDD internal. OR to simply stick with windows 8.1 and hope, that it is taken in charge as long as XP was.

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP

    Hello

First things first. Don't forget that your USB stick recovery is the HP external recovery media and not just another type of recovery image. Back up your data. Check that your PC is supported by HP for Windows 10 and that your PC meets the requirements of Windows 10. If so, then be sure your Windows 8.1 system is fully patched and up-to-date with Windows and HP implemented to date.  When you make an in place upgrade W10, W10 process will have a roll back feature that will be available in case you are not happy with the W10.  I made a couple of back roller and the process was pretty quick.

  • Creation of recovery media after upgrade to 8.1 Windows

My computer is a year old and came with 64 bit Windows 8 Pro. I did my recovery media.  Then, they offered an upgrade to a 8.1 free Pro 64-bit.  I took this.  You cannot use the recovery media HP App again to make a floppy of 8.1.  I went online to try to do and could do it, but I only have my OEM # put in and who doesn't.  Download not free any # is product key came with version 8.1.  I tried to use the product key provided with your computer, Windows 8, and it did not work.   How can you now create recovery media for the free Windows 8.1 that has no new product key?  I can retrieve only to Windows 8.  How worthless is that?

    Hi sandnurse,

    You are absolutely right.

Microsoft will not allow the creation of a Win 8.1 installation disc using a product key to win 8.

You can buy a disc installation Win 8.1 OEM or retail.

  • Stream7 create a recovery media after upgrade to win10

unboxed my stream7 a few days earlier and let it update and got the 'time to get win10' icon in the systray.  I created win8.1 media restoration until I take the not... so I can go back to a clean win8... because I have now about free 3.5gig after the upgrade on mem drive.  (it's why I want create recovery win10 media... I have none left of disk space!)

In any case, when I try to create a restoration of win10 disc... I select the check box for the system files and it works a little butthen I get this cryptic message on the screen and a button 'Finish'... but no recovery drive.  If I do not select the system files, it will erase the disk and copy data to it, but this isn't a recovery disk... There is no need to re install win10.  This is win8.1bing, so I can't use the creator of media 10 victory as I have no key... I have to use the recovery media.

any ideas?  I really like win10, but I need my space rear disc and I want to get rid of all the win8.1 on the driv cruft.

    Thank you.

To answer my own post... Apparently, simply wait 12 hours. (He was not an update, at least I think... I got the auto update service stopped and the Tablet off all night)

When I tried again this morning... It took about 2 hours, but he had completed the restoration of the road. Another 2 hours and it increased by win10 running, but the screen would not rotate automatically. The fix for that float around these forums. Basically you reinstall the driver win8.1 for HP accelerometer. And boom, in fact.

  • Cannot create recovery media after installing the SSD on Pavilion TS 11-e100

    Hello

I just replaced the SSD HARD drive and tried to make a USB support of recovery through 8.1 recovery utility. The process takes strangely little time, but finishes normally have reported that the media are created. The size of all the files on the flash is about 200 MB. When I made the same support with disk size was 12 GB. I tried to start with than flash and it failed with a message on a damaged or similar medium. I always thought that windows does not take into account the physical structure of the disc and can not understand what is happening and what to do.

    Hello

I use HP Recovery manager to create a recovery media for my machine ready and my wife. I use another software to clone HARD disks for other machines after any big change for example after moving from Windows 8 to 8.1, I create a clone which means I can't do it again, simply restore it back. Use a software called O & O DiskImage clone but the following free software can do the job:

    Kind regards.

PS I tested once the 3rd software, it's ok

  • model 550-223w: cannot download the recovery media after upgrade Windows 8.1 for Windows 10

Buy computer with 8.1 Windows preinstalled on July 9, 2015.   Downloaded disc recovery media for Windows 8.1. Elected to download Windows 10 and even installed on July 30, 2015.  Attempted to download the recovery media for Windows 10 but refused because 1 only one download is allowed.  How can I get the computer to download Windows 10?

For some reason any warranty start date is also may 5, 2015 instead of the date that I registered the computer with HP.  How can I change the start date?

  • HP 450-011: delete the recovery partition after upgrade to win 10?

I have a new HP 450-011 and it came with Win 8.1 and the recovery with the letter D: drive partition.  I did the upgrade to windows 10.  I made a set of recovery DVD for win installation 8.1.  Is there a reason for me not to delete the D: drive and replace it with my information?  I seriously doubt I'll want to roll back to 8.1 Win.

    Greetings,

Have you tested the Win 8.1 HP Recovery disks before installing Win 10?

A question is: If you need technical assistance from HP tech for a possible hardware problem. HP normally requires that the factory installed operating system to take in charge. This policy of HP may have changed during the upgrade to win 10. I do not suspect.

You can export the recovery, Partition because it will not work now in any case.

But you need a way to go back to win 8.1 when you need HP warranty support.

Since you have already upgraded to Win 10, the only way to check the recovery of 8.1 Win disks is to use them and start all over again. Or the support of disks/USB recovery HP Win 8.1 on a new equivalent or larger HDD or SSD. A good installation means that you have now the factory install on this disk.

    It's a lot of work.

The problem of guaranteed support is your problem.

I have eliminated this problem by installing Win 10 on a new SSD. I have HP Win 8.1 on a separate SSD and win 10 on a different SSD. Possible guarantee problem solution means earn 8.1 running on HP SSD factory to check the problem of winning 10 SSD.

  • Satellite U500-10F - creating recovery disk after upgrade Windows 7

I bought a Satellite U500-10th with Vista OS and I decided to upgrade to Windows 7, so I ordered at Toshiba upgrade disk and installed it.

    * My question is *: * it is possible to create with Windows 7 recovery discs? * in order to avoid the downside to install vista first then do the upgrade to windows 7

Whenever I need to do a clean install and also to avoid the disadvantage that it is not too recommended to validate windows whenever you perform a clean installation, because the problems of authenticity can emerge with microsoft!

    Thank you

    Hi m.tarek,

I doubt that this would be possible. First of all, you have ordered only an upgrade, which means that this version can be installed on a pre-installed version of Vista. It is not a full version that you can install without BONES.

Besides recovering the files on the second partition (btw, that's a picture) contains the Vista operating system and not Windows 7. It does not update.

Sorry mate, but this is why there will always be this update of s. Alternative, you can create your own image using Acronis True Image or other imaging software.

  • HP 190 t and cannot access network after upgrade to win 8

Upgrade to Windows 8 and cannot access the internet on my desktop HP 190 t.  No driver available on the HP support site.  I can see received/transmitted data between router but that is as far as it goes.   Have ideas or how to get the chipset drivers or should I get another network card?  Everything else seems to work very well.

I found the problem.  Norton Security Suite does not work with Win 8, causing conflicts.   I have remove the application configured defender and firewall Windows to maintain security until Norton product can support 8 Win.

  • Updated SL500 and OS recovery Media (s)

    Hello world

This is my first purchase of laptop and I did some research as to what long I must/need to do before messing with the system.

Please bear with me as I have a few general questions and the search function track me not enough for all the responses.

My OS is Vista Home Basic.

At startup, I typed recovery leading to "Create recovery media", "Create product recovery media" and "rescue and recovery".

I made backups of these three programs.

To "Create the product recovery media", it has created 3-disc Start recovery disc i) and ii) product Recovery Disc 1 and 2

For "Create recovery media", it created i) recovery and rescue boot disk

Now, after you create the recovery of two types, it is safe to assume that I can delete the Q: Partition.

Here are some questions that puzzled me:

    1. What is the difference between the product recovery media and the recovery media?

If I can answer my own question, product recovery media restore the laptop to its factory as well as the 3 partitions EVEN AFTER State I've done a 'clean install' of Vista and removing all partitions. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I have no idea what a recovery media as product recovery media seems to do everything.

    2. what type of recovery (of the two mentioned above) is the operating system Vista pre installed inside I should decide to go back to Vista.

My guess is the product with its OS and Lenovo recovery media drivers + utilities.

    3. should I decide to go and install W7 Pro, once versions or Lenovo official drivers (because I can not directly upgrade Home Basic to Pro), is possible to always use the product and revert to Vista Home Basic recovery media, assuming that what came as factory settings have all been removed.

    4. and finally, I'll be able to make any kind of recovery media after a fresh install of W7? (I think a definitive answer will arise come W7 launch date, but it does not hurt to ask )

Thank you very much for reading a long and perhaps repetitive for some, post.

I always visit the forums then I hope I'll learn new things through time.

    1. recovery of product support will include your ad OS drivers that get you with your system

2 medial recovery allows you to enter in the rescue and recovery environment

You can use the product recvoery support to return to Vista Home Basic, if you want to

You cannot do any recovery media after installing windows 7, because that has not been delivered with your system

  • Envy 15-ah150na: create recovery media - does not recognize a 32GB kingston generation 3 data traveler flash drive

    Hello

I have tried to create recovery media on a clean formatted FAT32 drive Kingstone (32 GB 3 generation) flash and keep giving me the message that the flash drive has insufficient free space.

Tried after formatting the 32 GB again and the same message, tried the NTFS file system and still the same.

Pending a solution please. Thank you very much.

    Best wishes

Official response with the support of HP on twitter:

Try to use the tool of media recovery. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-usb-recovery-drive. The USB has a boot device.

.. who has worked on the same USB stick 32 GB .  BUT it is not the same as in the HP Recovery Manager.

Don't bother more. I accept the foregoing as a solution.

Good luck with users who have this laptop. Also issues with the network adapter to which I am trying to fix at the moment.

    Hello everyone!

I have just bought a SVS13A290X, win 8, vaio care 8. Just after I tried to create recovery media, but I couldn't.

There is no possibility to do in vaio care. He do not have a restore option, but not the option to create a recovery media (sic).

I went to the Sony esupport site and there is an old video on how to create a recovery media. But it does not match the real software.

I did all the updates with windows 8 and the sony software and nothing has changed.

Anyone else had this problem with this model PREMIUN SVS?

  • HP 15 Notebook - r063tu model: what quality of Flash drive required for creating recovery media for laptop 15 HP (r063tu)?

I want to create a recovery media for my laptop HP 15 (model r063tu) on a Flash instead of DVD drive (had a bad experience with the DVD in the past). Should I buy a 16 GB or 32 GB of capacity 3.0 USB drive. Because it will only be to create recovery media, obviously I won't be able to use it for other purposes, so want to buy everything as this is sufficient (and save on costs!). Thank you.

    Hello

32 GB is necessary because the recovery partition is almost always about 20 GB or more.

  • Cannot create recovery media

Attempting to create a recovery media for my new laptop Toshiba L-500; I get the following error message:
    {Cannot read the following file.

This has happened while creating recovery disc 1 and disc 3... with the same error message. considering that the Recovery Disk 2 was created without any problem.
I tried burning the files again for discs 1 and 3, which could once again, but 2 disk has been created again successful without any problem.
