  • HP pavilion Dv6 laptop: does not start in normal mode, safe mode

    Hi all

I have HP Pavilion DV6 laptop with windows 7 Home premium 64-bit OS. It was working fine up until two or three days.

After that some software upgrades, it has stopped booting.   When I tried to start it in safe mode, it stops at disk.sys.

I don't have win 7 OS CD or recovery CD.  So I downloaded the trail version of windows 7 SP1, I want to install this, but he is suspended the windows logo.  I Googled it has bitten, I loaded a linux kernel and access the hard disk.  I backed up all the files required by using this boot of linux.

I don't know what to do now?  What is the problem with my system. When I ran the drive diagnostic. It was a failure. That means that I can't use this HARD drive?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi stephane,

Well the error code certainly would indicate that the player began to fail, but just in case, you might try to wipe the entire hard drive first and then reinstalling the operating system as described below.

Download and install Killdisk on the link below - (this application will write zeros to the entire disk).

    http://Software.LSoft.net/KillDiskSuiteFree-Setup.exe

Download and install ImgBurn on the link below.

    http://download.CNET.com/ImgBurn/3000-2646_4-10847481.html

Access the application of disc kill you have installed in all programs, open the main folder, then select Bootable Disk creators, then the BACK Bootable CD Creator that will burn the ISO on a blank CD bootable.

During the following process do not worry about all warnings as your Windows 7 installation disk will reformat the HARD drive.

Insert this CD into your PC which is unable to load the operating system properly. Close Notepad, and then start again to boot from the CD of Killdisk and follow the instructions on the screen to kill disk.

A brief description of the process here is Killdisk.

Use it to wipe the entire hard drive, Select (80 h) and press f10 (you will also need to type a confirmation and press enter) - ( This will make sure to include all of the partitions , and then start the process - this may take a few hours!).

When the process is complete, remove the CD of Killdisk and try to reinstall Windows 7.

If it still does not work, I think your only option is to replace the HARD drive.

    Kind regards

  • HP pavilion dv6-7045ez: impossible to start SSD

Hello, I changed my old HDD to SSD (Kingston hyperX fury 240 GB, controller SandForce® SF-2281). I tried to install windows 7, windows 10 and debian, but I still have the same problem, during installation reboot to complete, it is impossible to boot from SSD. My opinion is that the controller is not compatible with my pc (HP pavilion dv6-7045ez).

I found crucial.com who all say the ssd compatible with series dv6-7XXX (http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/pavilion-dv6-7xxx-series-%28intel-ddr...). Can I trust her?

I understand that you have replaced your disk by a (fury of hyperX Kingston 240 GB) SSD and are able to install Windows, but not able to boot to it later. When I checked HP Pavilion dv6 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service of Guide, the Kingston drive is not part of the recommended replacements. That doesn't mean it won't work, only that it is not tested and the result is unknown. It may or may not work.  You can find this informative document. HP Notebook PC - Solid State Hard Drives. • HP Pavilion dv6 6080 ep: update of HP Pavilion dv6 6080 ep memory

    Hello

I own a HP Pavilion dv6 6080ep. It came with 4 GB of RAM and it has an intel processor i5. In order to do an upgrade of RAM I get Manual HP on memory full capacity. It is said that for this model, with the i5 processor it could go up to 16 GB of memory. When I searched for the spare part of HP, he said that both the 621569-001, the 4 GB and the 634091-001, for the 8 GB, should be replaced by 641369-001 and 670034-001. Let me stress to you that these replacements have slightly different form of the original. I searched among the brands of memory there, specifically Kingston and crucial that said for this model I can get 8GB in mind. I think sincerely lost now. The amount of memory can my laptop really gets and there is no record of RAM I should know about off?

    Thanks in advance,
    Paulo

PS: I was planning on getting a tp of Kingston KVR1333D3S9 / 8G add to my original 4 GB. (for a total of 12 GB)

This is max 16 GB of DDR3 - 1333 PC3 - 10600 SO-DIMM aka. DDR3-1600 will downclock at 1333, and that's what you're probably see. I'd get 2 identical modules and not mix and match old and more recent memory. You prefer the modules with 8 blocks of black memory on each side (low density) as the HPs like the better guy.

    This works, for example:

    http://www.Amazon.com/G-skill-204-pin-so-DIMM-laptop-F3-1600C11D-16GSL/DP/B00HHDUEDG/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&QID=1427144332&SR=8-14&keywords=DDR3-1600+so-DIMM

Even though it says 1.35 volts it will work also to 1.5 volts if necessary. memory of 1.35 volts is a better product because they choose only the best RAM for low voltage memory chips.

Probably not with a 2d gen i5 processor, but it does not matter. It will support an SSD SATA-III, even if the SSD transfer is limited to SATA-II. It will always be very, very fast and you will never see no practical difference. Download the SSD, you will not be sorry. Let us know if you need help most.

  • Pavilion dv6 3100: unable to start pavilion dv6 3100 again clone Samsung ssd 850 evo

Im trying to upgrade the HDD to the SSD.  Tried a Samsung ssd - 850 EVO 500 GB after cloning, using Samsung data migration software.  However, Windows will not start since the new cloned ssd.  I get a black sreen showing, "windows does not have start message and all... and shows--

    File:------Boot\BCD.

    Status: 0x000000f.

Info: an error occurred while trying to read the boot configuration data. »

Samsung Wizard is not able to find data on the ssd.  I looked up and gathered a lot of information and did everything I could.  Disk Manager recognizes the device when connected via USB (for cloning).  Device Manager displays the storage as -«IDE...» SATA/AHCI controller... ».   I enabled AHCI in the regedit - the HKEY_LOCAL... Msahci, IastorV, etc.  I also updated all the possible drivers and firmware and BIOS (f29).  Yet once the ssd is connected and placed in the drive Bay, Windows just would not start.

I'm an amateur, pretendng to be an "expert"!

    Someone please help!

Ive been away for a few days.  Sorry for this late reply.

I have treid sfc/scannow - did not work.  Not sure it'll work, I was not ready to move to another

$50 on Acronis software cloning.  So, in the end, I opted for a clean install of windows7 operating system, using my own system recovery disks that I created previously.

Every thing looks and works perfectly.  Samsung magician is able to detect the ssd by his real name (and not as ASMT 2115) and also shows that the AHCI is enabled. The time spent was worthwhile.

Yes, you should be able to install and SSD drive in place of the built-in SATA HDD.

You should be able to find compatible HARD drives in the Service guide and maintnence for your laptop on the hp.com site.

  • Pavilion dv6-2010sa Notebook: RAM upgrade

My HP Pavilion dv6 is really slow (especially when you use the internet with more than a couple of tabs open. I did a full audit of viruses, spyware, etc. - all clean. However, when I checked the system I have only 3 GB of RAM (2.75 usable).

Increase the RAM would make a significant difference and if so what is the maximum I should buy (which would be effective)? It would also be very helpful if you can give advice if I should run extra RAM with what I already have or if I have to replace it. Finally, if you could tell me the name of the RAM should I buy and where can I buy it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Ben

It will run up to 8 GB of RAM. This is the laptop DDR2-800 memory. This video shows the replacement of hard disk and memory so just pay attention to memory:

    https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=koynICXjbzI

DDR2 is very expensive. Here's the manual for your dv6:

    Manual

Here is the Kingston showing page guaranteed compatible RAM:

    http://www.crucial.com/USA/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/Pavilion-DV6-2010sa

As you can see, 8 GB is well over $200. Personally, because I'm cheap, I would buy a single module of 2 gig and increase the total RAM of 4 GB or, to be sure it works with maximum efficiency, buy a 4 GB kit if you have 2 identical bars. A 4 GB kit is 'only' $ 56, and it is a reasonable investment. 4 concerts will be significantly better than 3. You might also think of a reinstallation of the operating system. Computers a naturally slow down with age that the registry fills up with junk. There are a few settings, you can clean up the start menu and other things less an OS reinstall.

  • I have a HP laptop Pavilion dv6-2057 cl.

It begins to start but shut down [Black's] in seconds

    What can I do?

    Hey @Kenaigma ,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that your Pavilion dv6 notebook will not start.

Try to start in safe mode to check for possible problems with the graphics card drivers: start your computer in safe mode.

You can also try a Startup Repair running tapping F11, while the laptop turns on and selecting the Startup Repair option.

If none of these works, try load F11 and a system restore to before that the problem started.

If you can't access the F11 recovery options and safe mode does not start, restore the BIOS. You can see a guide on this operation here: restore the BIOS.

Here are other documents that you may find useful:

Computer does not start and the lights blink or the computer will beep.

  • Pavilion DV6 3000 Entertainmet: Need help to install an SSD for my laptop

Hello everyone, I want to get a SSD for my notebook to use as first HDD and system C, so I can have a better communication and speed faster for the system (like rendering, export audio & video).
I can do in my HP Pavilion DV6 3000 entertainment? What type of SSD can adapt to the system?
Running on Windows 10 (recently updated), Intel i5 M520 @2.4 GHz, Ati Radeon 1 Gb HD, 4 GB DDR3 Ram... HARD DRIVE 320 GB

I don't want to talk negatively about a manufacturer's product, but it is a fact that we saw a few compatibility issues raised here on the Forum about an old series of SSD Crucial, the MX which is not what you're asking about. I have used other than the MX series Crucial SSD successfully, but they are not my first choice. Crucial is a very reputable company and will remain fully behind their product. If they say it is compatible you aren't risking anything to try it.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 - slow start compared to laptop older?

    Hello

I recently bought a new Pavilion dv6 but noticed that there a start more slow times compared with my old Toshiba Portege R705-P35. I'm just curious as to why this is since the Portégé has much lower than my flag specs.

    Thank you

    TheLongBoarder

    Hi TheLongBoarder,

The slow start could be caused by several different things. The first thing you want to do when diagnosed with a problem with a computer, is if it's a hardware problem or a software problem. In your case, I think it would be a hardware problem. You shouldn't have a problem with the memory or the speed of your hard drive. This model must be run at least 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM.

It also depends what 'boot' you talk about.

    1. if it was the boot of when you press the power button to the Windows login screen (post), it could be a problem with the BIOS. May not have the most recent version, or the settings in the BIOS cannot be addressed to optimize speed and start Windows.

If the version of the BIOS is the problem, you can find the latest version by going to the page drivers downloads HP, select the exact model of your laptop (i.e.. dv6-6c35dx) number, select your operating system and navigate to the section called "BIOS". Follow the instructions below to check if the currently installed version is newer or older version online.

    1. Click on Start and then run.

    2. In the text box on the run window, type regedit and click OK. This will open the registry editor program.

Note: Do not make changes to any entry anywhere in the registry editor to avoid causing serious problems in the system. These steps only directly allow you to display a registry entry, is not to make changes.

    3. Find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE under my computer folder and click the plus sign (+) after the folder name to expand the folder.

    4. In records resulting, find and click the plus sign (+) next to the hardware STORE to expand this folder.

    5. In records resulting, find and click on the (+) sign next to the DESCRIPTION to expand this folder.

    6. In records resulting, locate and click the folder System .

    7. In the results displayed in the right window, locate the entries SystemBiosVersion andSystemBiosDate .

    8. The data in the SystemBiosVersion field contains the version of the BIOS of your motherboard. This field can also contain additional information such as the manufacturer of the chipset and the manufacturer of the BIOS.

    9. The data in the field SystemBiosDate contains the date in the calendar associated with the current version of the BIOS of your motherboard. The date of the BIOS can be useful to determine the current version of the BIOS from the motherboard manufacturer's Web site if the version is not clear in the area of SystemBiosVersion .

    10. Close the registry editor without making any changes.

The BIOS settings: If the problem is with the settings in the BIOS, there are a couple of tweeks that allow you to optimize speed. When you turn on the computer, the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) works a lot of tests on devices and configure the devices connected to your computer. If some parameters are not configured correctly, the startup of your PC speed can be reduced. Enter the BIOS setup and look for commands or settings that may not be correct. To be sure, run a Google search to be sure. Make sure that your first boot device is set on your main hard drive. Make sure that the logo of the motherboard display is turned off. And make sure that the Quick start quick start feature is activated.

2 if your talking about startup as the loading process connection Windows for a full load of Windows in the Windows desktop, you may have a problem with too many programs to load with windows. In this case, you can easily check and disable all programs unwanted on startup with Windows, which can cause speed problems. You can do this:

    1. click "Start" and type "msconfig" in the search bar and press "enter."

    2. This will open "System Configuration utility".

    3. on the right side of the window, navigate to the tab "start".

    4. you will see a list of all programs to load with Windows. Here, you can decide what you do or you want to load with Windows. Some programs are required to load with Windows so that Windows load and run properly, so careful who you disable. If you are not sure if it's necessary for Windows, you can do a quick search on google to be sure. Search for the song titled "startup item". Copy and paste in Google and type "is"EXAMPLE"necessary to start Windows? You will usually find your answer quickly enough.

Slow start could be caused by a couple of other reasons as well.

    1.  fragmented - registry Windows registry is the most indispensable of the Windows operating system. When he begins to have problems with the registry, the speed and functionality of Windows becomes considerably slower. I doubt that this could be the problem with your computer. It is possible, but it is new and that if you have applied heavy use in a short period of time, it is not the likely culprit. If it, however, it's worth a check. You can find a good registry cleaner online and give him a check.

2 of virus or Spyware infections- once the infections on the computer, they can cause immediate damage to Windows features. If you have been online a lot, even with an anti-virus program, you may have a virus any. You must run a full scan just to be sure. You can also download the free version of Malwarebytes and run as well. It works very well and is quite powerful.

Hope that this helped you and you have this problem is resolved. If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to me message. In fact, I have a model dv6 that I may be able to help in any future issues, you may have.

    Later,.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-3150us Entertainment Notebook not start after sitting on the side.

Hello! I have a HP Pavilion dv6-3150us Entertainment Notebook that works under Windows 7. Last week, I traveled with him in Florida, and when I arrived and tried to turn on the laptop, it wouldn't start. The screen was white with thin lines going through it and the screen turned slowly black. I disassembled the computer and put it back together (which I have experience with, I installed a new fan at the beginning of last year) and he came in safe mode. This ihappened still once I put the laptop in my bag on back and then he pulled out a few minutes later (without even moving) and when I got home. I tested the hard drive and memory, and they both passed. Other that this question, the computer has worked fine.
