Pavilion dv7-1130us: are all 486542-001 compatible or interchangeable?

I need to replace my failing mother of my dv7-1130us.

My SPS is 486542-001, but also many in these series of laptops. All of them are compatible?

How important are all the other numbers listed on the label on the other? They relate only to the revisions or they indicate compatibility? I found much used 486542-001 motherboards online, but I'm not sure they really compatible.

My motherboard:

486542 001

The other numbers on the right label:

2119725301909

10N2

2BMFG: 840

JBK00 A002

46153532L 02

CT: PAGLBN2WVWMPPT

Yes, the HP 486542-001 part number is the motherboard of your laptop. If you buy another motherboard with this part number, it will be compatible with your system.

Two notes:

Be careful when buying a motherboard from places like Ebay because they usually are used and need to be repaired without doubt for a reason and others (usually because of problems caused by overheating). There is not much of a guarantee that these tips would not also relatively quickly.

In addition, replace the motherboard on a laptop is probably the most difficult part of your laptop to replace as it will require complete disassembly of the laptop. If you have never tried something like this before, it would be well worth watching a few videos on youtube showing this process before you decide you want to approach this work.

  • HP Pavilion DV7-1130us: HP Pavilion DV7-1130us upgrade?

    Hello!

After my mother upgraded to a new shiny HP desktop, I was checking out his old DV7.  It is an old, but he has worked hard for years, speaks to the quality of HP.  He had 64-bit Vista business, but now Windows 7 is installed.  It has a 2.0 Ghz AMD Turion x 2 64 processor processor, 8 GB of Ram and a ATI card.  The screen is a bright sign WXGA + 1440 x 900.

The computer has a few quirks, not surprising for a 7 year old computer or more.  There is no feature in what appears to be a rear fan vent, just behind the lower vent under the fan, in the back left corner of the cell.  When the fan is blowing, I can put my hand under the lower vent "legburner" and feel the air flow, but I feel no air flow coming out of the rear vent.  It's the worst oddity, since it really looks like a vent, vents should work and it seems wrong that the computer only breathe through a pad.

Another oddity, it's that device manager says there are the graphics card Radeon 3200, not so great, from what I've heard, still a few games I've tried running application that the computer is equipped with the Radeon 3450 graphics chip.

Recently, I was wondering how much potential it is the upgrade of the survivor.  2.0 Ghz seems a bit low in the modern era, and my research suggests that other contemporary pavilions equipped with more powerful Intel Core 2 Duo processors.  This makes me wonder if I can pass the CPU to a stronger Core 2 and how far.  Should I be never disassemble the machine which until now in any case, I would also like to know how to get the vent rear to function, if it is a tail wind.

I understand also there is really little practical trying to do this 7 years old DV7 something it is not.  It is nice to look at and technology 2008 is always good for web browsing, so there is no need of any drastic upgrades or plastic surgery for the fan, because it is not overheat as long the legburner vent is not blocked by a leg.  But a computer enthusiast can dream.

    Thank you.

All the right questions. Let's take the most concerning thing first. Defective fan vent certainly means that the exhaust of the fan is clogged which is extremely frequent. The solution is to open and clean all around the fan and install new cooling paste between the processor and the fan heatsink. It also gives a chance to do something with the processor. You can not install an Intel (Core 2 Duo) on this motherboard. It is nested to an AMD processor.

Compatible AMD processor is the top of the page:

    AMD Turion™ Ultra Dual-Core 35W ZM-86 2.40 GHz with 2 MB of L2 cache

AMD processors tend to be fairly inexpensive. $25 for the processor which precedes on eBay from a reputable vendor.

The main problem is that the dv7-1000 models are very difficult to disassemble. A challenge for an experienced technician for laptop because of the number of subsets and internal cables going all over the place. I can't recommend self-help.

You have the smaller version of the AMD options in this series, one with UMA or integrated graphics, IE the Radeon 3200, which is OK for surfing the web and DVD movies but can't do any game to speak of. Other models had graphics Radeon 3450 "discreet", but to get this would require a motherboard swap. Parts for this series of models are now essentially obsolete if possible to find few fresh if you know where to look but still difficult to install.

The last part of your post seems to recognize that there is not much we can reasonably do. One thing you must know is that the 8 GB of DDR2 memory in it is worth about $125 to share in the used market so don't let not someone gives you $40 for it. With the blocked vent, I'd be surprised if you get another 6 months out of it in daily use. AMD models particularly need good cooling as they run very hot.

I have a Pavilion dv7-6178us laptop 'hand', and I would like to change the existing hard drive.  I understand that it came originally with a 750 GB SATA drive at 5400 RPM, but I inherited mine with only 100 GB SATA, OUCH!  I would like to upgrade my drive to a SSD for the best possible performance, and then add a larger disk for storage.  When you are looking for different drives, I came across SATA I, SATA II and SATA III and I can not figure out which is compatible with my computer or what he came originally with.

Which SATA (I, II or III) is compatible with the dv7-6178us? Specification the SATA is backward compatible. This means that disks SSD SATA type will work in your notebook. The SSD will be made only to the level of specification SATA your SATA controller is capable of. If the controiller is SATA150 so your SSD SATA600 installed work bandwidth SATA150.

What is the largest compatible SSD, or should I expect for the best performance? , You can install one with the largest capacity you can afford.  I would recommend not to install a larger than 512 GB. My own brand preferences are Intel, OCZ Technology, Samsung and SSD Crucial.  Purchase of the SSD in upgrade kit is the simplest solution. Upgrade kits come with a SATA to USB cable and cloning software making it a fairly simple process to upgrade the laptop. See the post-it that I wrote at the top of the section of portable equipment for some details on this.

What is the greatest player I can additionally ADD the SSD for storage? I recommend you not to install any disk hard legacy with a capacity greater than 1 terabyte. There is no guarantee that a superior who will work as expected.

The following information is the maintenance guide & computer Support laptop dv7 to refers to the physical size of existing hard drives.

    6.35 cm (2.5 in) drives supports hard drives to 12.7 mm (. 50 inches), 9.5 mm (. 37-in) and thicknesses of 7.0 mm (. 28 - in)

  • Where are the drivers for HP Pavilion dv7-3065dx notebook PC USB?

I just had a really annoying couple of hours to find out that the next step in my quest to get all four of the USB ports on my HP Pavilion dv7-3065dx Entertainment Notebook PC working again is to reinstall the USB driver.  The problem is this driver seems to be hidden safely in a place where dangerous people like me can't get to work.  Can someone tell where I can get this driver?  Please, humor me - I just fell off the turnip truck and I did what is obvious to search "drivers and support" area of HP one USB for a HP Pavilion dv7-3065dx Entertainment Notebook PC running win7 64 bit driver.  He isn't here.  So where is it?

You don't need a special usb driver. It is part of the main chipset driver and eventually the operating system itself. If you have problems with the usb ports does not work, it is most likely hardware. However, one thing you can try is going into Device Manager, all that can be uninstalled, the uninstall usb devices, restart and allow drivers to recharge. When I have a laptop with usb problems I boot from a Linux Live CD or a pen and see if the usb ports work with Linux. If yes then your Windows is corrupted somehow. If this isn't the case, then it is material.

  • USB not recognized - even when there is no device at all (Windows 7, Pavilion dv7)

For a few days now, I get the message

"USB device not recognized: one of the USB devices attached to this computer is not working properly." The device has not been recognised "."

He keeps popping up in my right corner below, every 5 seconds if I don't click it. When I click on the message, I get a list of devices (ports) are available. There is an "unknown device". Maybe it has something to do with the (biometric) finger scan? This has not worked very well lately...

Even when there is no single USB device installed (normally, I have a mouse and a Targus laptop cooling mat installed as USB devices), it keeps popping up. I tried to remove the USB port from the list (or uninstall) in the remote control, but it seems that it keeps happening.

I got it all of a sudden, I have nothing specific to has not logged any strange devices (except for a spotlight on exit external screen, but this has nothing to do with USB). I also hear the sound for the connection / disconnection USB devics randomly when I'm on my laptop.

    Someone has an idea?
