Pavillion P6218f graphics card fan is not turning

When I went to start my PC started to emit a beep and the screen would not recognize a connection. The beep code was 2 short, followed by 8 beeps long beeps. I opened the case and cleaned up a lot of dust outside and then when I went to start it upward I noticed that the fan on top of the graphics card would turn a bit gusty, but would not keep spinning, and then the beeps occur. Is there a way I can remove the fan or card and replace it or even try to clean it up? I'm sure that's the problem. The card says it's a dolphin-10-M04 SP # 578174-001.

Sean, welcome to the forum.

Here's a guide that will help you remove the video card:

You can try to clean it up, but I think there could have been failure and should be replaced.

  • Satellite P200 accidents + message: graphic card driver does not work properly

    Hello

    hope that this issue has not been covered before, but I've owned a Satellite P200 for 3 years now, and this week, it crashes all the time.

    When it started going down he gave me a few messages in the sense of "your graphics card/driver does not work properly and windows will be arrested to avoid damage.

    It has progressed to the point where now when I turn it on, I have vertical lines running down the screen and the screen flashes on and outside. Within 20 seconds, it restores the BSOD - 'there was a problem and windows will be arrested. Error Page_Fault_In_Non_Paged_Area"then stops.

    I ran a system restore but the problem remains.

    I have a feeling that my graphics card is toast. Is this good? Are there any other options to try? Thanks in advance for any answers.

    Matt

    Hello

    Sounds like the GPU problem.
    But try the graphics card driver update.
    Use the most recent driver for your graphics card.

    In addition, clean the fans of portable computers.
    Dust and debris could prevent the cooling fans to turn with the best speed and this could lead to a higher temperature which would lead to overheating.
    Use a jet of compressed air. I also use it and it helps to get rid of dust and debris.

    If this is not enough, then a problem of graphics chip would be possible.

  • GeForce 7350LE graphics card fan is running all the time or at certain temperatures?

    I have a HP Pavilion m8147c Media Center with AMD Atlon 64 X 2 Dual Core processor 5600 + 2.80 GHz 3 GB of Ram and run these last time the parser when began to enter the mode "sleep" or something. Sometimes, there is a warning that says something like no signal DVI and one more, but still not long enough to read all this. I am running Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I had just installed a new game but enough course has nothing to do with that I used the system restore and backed up to a time before it was installed. At the beginning it was only when you play, but now, it happens with almost nothing running. This pc was purchased in July 2007 and I have another office but I let my wife use one and I use the other. I opened the folder and clean all the dust but noticed when I booted again that the fan does not work on the video card. I don't know if it lights at certain times or works all the time but I think that's the problem. He was about one hour and lights do not at all. Any information will be appreciated.

    captna wrote: thanks again for the help, I thought it was probably the case but never bothered with graphics cards before today. Any thoughts on an upgrade for not much more money? It was a pretty good pc when I bought it, but it is old, and there should be some video cards better for the same price that would work. I'll add some memory and while I am because the grandchildren need to play their games too. Do you know where to find an upgrade that would be compatible? Yet once again, I appreciate the help.

    Hello captna, here is a link for the specifications of your system. It shows that the system was delivered with a 300 Watt power supply.

    There is not much better performing video cards that work with a 300 Watt power supply. Most require at least a 400 Watt power supply or greater power.

    You could improve the feed and the video card, then possibly 4 new memory modules, but the cost would start to add up. On a system to make a few years about it, I don't know if this would be the way to go, or consider getting a new system.

    You could simply acquire a new video of the same type card and get the system back, because there was, or even try and find a graphics card fan to replace the failed fan. It would be the least expensive option.

    Your system was shipped with the memory 3 X 1 GB modules. It only supports 4 X 1 memory modules, so upgrading the memory would not help all that much. You'd probably remove the existing memory and install 4 new memory modules in order to be compatible with your system memory. It is not recommended to mix memory strips.

    Just some thoughts.

    Fan errors are usually hardware problems. There is a fan in the case including detector does not detect that it is available or spinning. This could be a problem with the real fan or the fan sensor.

    Does this have to do with? Are you talking about an error that is displayed by a Windows machine? If so, what version of Windows? When the error take? At boot time? Before or after that Windows allows you to open a session? When you provide no details, it is almost impossible for anyone to help.

    Hello

    GTX590 requires a minimum 700 watts!    Are you sure have the right graphics card model?

    I think you meant the Geforce 9500 that has a history of failures of the fan and noise.

    The link provided for you at erico has some excellent older card choices.

    If you want a newer model of the card, then this PNY GT 440 1 GB would be a very good choice.  This card also supports the most recent version of Directx 11 If you ever wish to use this software.

    @drago72, welcome to the forum.

    Normally, the drivers other those provided by HP will not work with their motheboards.  I suggest you go to Device Manager / graphics cards / right click on your video card / select Update driver software / search automatically for updated driver software.  If there is an updated driver, it will be found and installed.  If this is not the case, he will tell you that it is up-to-date.

  • T420 graphic card appearing does not

    Hi, I have a T420 that I recently bought, and the seller said that the computer comes with a

    NVIDIA NVS 4200 M graphics card. And no matter what I try I can't find anywhere.

    I went through:

    Device Manager

    CPUID HWMonitor

    BIOS (no mention of switchable graphics anywhere, or even mention of video anywhere.)

    I have downloaded the nvidia driver and he said that he could not find compatible graphics hardware.

    As silly as it sounds I only bought this computer due to his condition and does, it came with a graphics card.

    The model number is 4180-CP1, I checked the drivers for the model, and it is said there are available for laptop nvidia drivers. It is in very good condition so I don't think that the card can be fried, but I don't know what to do to get it activated. I've already updated the bios and nothing seems to have changed. (Through the lenovo update tool)

    I really need to understand this because otherwise I have return the computer and that will cost me much!

  • Graphics cards GTX - 770M not detected in Device Manager

    Salvation;

    My AW-18 does not correctly detect my GTX - 770 M (x 2) cards and display them in the Device Manager. What I see is that in the other devices section, there are two unknown devices listed, one of which I already know (not related). Any GTX cards appear in graphics cards.

    Also, when I try to install GeForce experience, I get an error saying that I don't have cards chart for this program. It allows to launch fine until today (December 15, 2014).

    This PC has a hard drive erasure and system reinstall in its history. It is possible that this point has been like that for this event.

    The Hardware Id info on the elements of the mystery are as follows:

    ACPI\VEN_SMO & DEV_8810
    ACPI\SMO8810
    * SMO8810

    So I guess I have two questions;

    (1) can you tell me what is this mystery device?

    (2) why can I not see my graphics card in Device Manager, despite all the usual activities like the search of new hardware, drivers, etc..

    Thank you

    Graham

    Also note that I had already run the troubleshooter from Dell and it detected no problems.

    I found a solution myself.

    I looked at the BIOS settings by the F2 key at startup, and the only thing I could see I could try was to restore the default settings, so I did. My PC booted then up normally but for low resolution. Device Manager now showed two graphics cards, so I ran the installer of the latest GeForce drivers and the PC works now perfectly once more.

  • T400 Graphics Card Driver does not work

    Hi, I recently bought a T400 (2764 Type) with the ATI HD 3400 graphics card and Windows XP (I don't want to run Vista).  Whenever I start my computer, however, I get a message saying that the ATI card has no driver.  I understand that Lenovo decided to do not pre-install the specific driver for XP and as a result I tried to download the driver from Lenovo and ATI, but doesn't seem to work.  Any help would be appreciated.

    The version the T400 2764 has switchable graphics. If the initial preload was Vista, switchable graphics were activated. XP does not support switchable graphics, then you must choose between the Intel card / ATI.

    Lenovo supports doc, RAHUL-70665:

    For switchable graphics machines, boot in the bios via F1, select config -> view and set the following parameters:

    • Main default video device [internal]
    • Display startup [Thinkpad LCD] *
    • Graphics device [discrete graphics] *
    • OS detection for switchable [disable]

    * Change this setting VGA or DVI if the machine must be used on a platform of advanced
    ** Switchable Graphics is a feature of Windows Vista only. Set the Serial ATA to AHCI to compatibility mode (this will avoid error 0x7B BSOD on XP media starting.
