PC keeps freezing upwards

Three times in the last week, I give salvation to three fingers, leave my PC for a while and when I come back to it, the screen saver is not running, I see on the screen my walpaper with no icon bar in tasks or office, it will not meet a salute to three fingers and the only option I have is to press the power button until my PC stops and then restarts.  What could be the cause of lock up like that?

Hello @JamesWales,

Thank you for the updates your HP computer. I'm you provide a HP support document: use Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7), I like you can use to restore your system supports up to a point in time before you began to experience the issue that freezes the computer.

If the Microsoft System Restore does not resolve your problem, I would allows you to use the HP support document: Testing of hardware failures (Windows 7) to test your computer and make sure that you do not have a hardware device that is impossible or on the road to failure. If the test to identify a hardware problem please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you do not live in the United States / Canada region, please click the link below to get help from your region number. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html.

If however the test does not indicate a hardware problem, I think you should make a backup and a restore your computer restores on the condition, it's when you purhcased it. To save your personal information and ensure it is not lost, I would like you to look at and follow the steps in the HP Support document: backup of files (Windows 7), who will be your personal files are up to date.

CAVEAT! If you want to keep the e-mails or bookmarks/favorites that you want to save them as I do not think they are saved in the backup HP process.

Then, I would like to see again you and follow the steps in the HP Support document: performing a recovery of HP (Windows 7) system, which will allow you through to get your computer back to factory settings.

IMPORTANT - your staff of files such as libraries, personalization settings, user accounts and desktop themes are permanently deleted. The settings on the computer are returned for values by default (as it was when it came from the factory). All applications and software installed on the computer when it came from the factory are relocated, and their settings are reset to the default values. In addition, software, applications, programs, and everything you have installed or saved on the computer are deleted permanently.

If the steps above did not solve your problem, even if the hardware test came back OK you can always have a device that is a failure and your system is not able to identify him. Please contact our technical support at the 800-474-6836. If you do not live in the United States / Canada region, please click the link below to get help from your region number. http://WWW8.HP.com/us/en/contact-HP/WW-phone-assist.html

I want to thank you for display on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Lightroom 6 / CC trail verson keeps freezing upwards

Hi I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem, Lightroom 6/CC keeps freezing upwards, I have the full version of Lightroom 5 on my laptop already and I was wondering if I will have to remove 5 for Photoshop and Lightroom CC works correctly?

    Thank you

They are two independent applications to uninstall LR5 will make no difference. LR6 should work if your PC meets the system requirements. Do you receive an error message? When the freeze happens? You could try to disable the GPU and work right next to the CPU as the LR5.

    Reach:

    Edit > preferences > Performance

Lightroom > preferences > Performance (on Mac OSX)

    Disable the GPU acceleration.

For Windows, you should go to the website of the manufacturer of your graphics processor and check the driver updates. Once updated you can try turning on GPU acceleration, otherwise leave this option disabled.

Mac GPU, updates occur with updates to the OS.

  • Satellite P10 keeps freezing upwards

Hi I need help, my Satellite P10 series keeps crashing in recent weeks. I run a defrag, and error checked the laptop. I also deleted many files to free up space and I'm not sure what to do.

Most of the time it crashes, it just freezes, sometimes I let a time - in case it is just a moment 'normal' than laptops, but it's just frozen! I have to stop it, and of course I continue to lose data because of this!

    Can someone help me?

    Side6

    Hello

Maybe it's a problem of overheating of s. have you checked the cooling fans?
If there is a dust or debris so the cooling vents don't work properly and can't cool the inside of the laptop.
You can use a vacuum cleaner to clean the fans. Maybe it helps.

Please let me know if it works.

  • Qosmio F60 keeps freezing upwards

OK Im getting desperate here, I don't really want to get my F60 repaired.

Ive had for about 2 weeks now, and it freezes all the time.
It freezes especially when I put the thing to sleep. It also sometimes freezes at boot, waking up, change user, and when I put it in hibernation mode.

There is not much software on the computer, theres some games, AVG, firefox and not much.

So I thought Id try the Toshiba PC Diagnostic Tool utility. It just won't matter which, always, it freezes the computer.

What is really happening, when I put the computer to sleep, Windows 7 stops down to a black screen, the screen goes black (but does not turn off) and the beginning of fans start the system and spinning. The power light comes on and I can push the volume buttons and they make sounds.
I can't do anything else however, it remains black just does not turn off, and I have to hold down the power button to turn off.

I installed all my programs from the first week, I had and it worked great.
The only thing Ive done since was to change the power settings, but I have changed several times since then to try to work again and he isn't. Ive also ran a Windows update (for the first time) after that the problem was going to see if that fixed it. It happens with no update utility from Toshiba.
Startup Repair is unable to repair or find something wrong, and using the system restore does nothing no more.

I should do or know before you go back to the shop?

The only other thing, I have to mention is that it takes forever Windows 7 at startup.
Is not the start of the process, but when you log in to the operating system it takes about 5 minutes to load everything up, I usually have to wait a few minutes so he could even connect to my Wifi, it starts in the same amount of time that my laptop doubtful with XP and a dodgy hard drive.
Ive just noticed this because I am now a full instead of wake up reboot like I did in my first week.

A search of google and this forum does not turn up a lot of answers.

    Hello

According to your post and observation, this could be a problem of software operating system.

That's why I think you should try to restore the operating system.
Try to reinstall windows 7 using the Toshiba recovery disc.
If you don t have this disc then you should create one using the preinstalled software Toshiba recovery disc creator.

  • error code 1003 and 1015 computer keeps freezing upwards

Hi, I'm on a computer Athlon 2000 + and Windows XP SP3. For these months, my computer kept freezing up and I can only reset it. It happens constantly and resets a half-dozen arrived on the internet, where I can get 5 minutes or 2 hours before it stops again. I've included a few events (see below) copied from the Clipboard. My Event Viewer is full of them, always the same two events. Seems to be something in the registry, but I really don't know enough to do something about it. Can you help me please?

    Event type: WARNING
    Event source: EvntAgnt
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 1003
    Date: 2010-11-18
    Duration: 03:07:46
    User: n/a
    Computer: ATHLON
    Description:
TraceFileName parameter not found in the registry. Default trace file used is.

Here is information on the events, but maybe it's not your only question... Start with that and then view the side of things:

The messages mean that components of the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) are installed on your system, but have not been fully configured.

Here's the warning messages and no errors (Event Type: warning).

When SNMP tries to start with no details of the configuration, it tries to inform you the settings he needs are not in the registry where one would expect to find the information and he complains.  When SNMP tries to start with no parameters, it displays messages similar to this:

    Event type: WARNING
    Event source: EvntAgnt
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 1003

    Description:
TraceFileName parameter not found in the registry. Default trace file used is.

She is usually accompanied by an another warning message that looks like this:

    Event type: WARNING
    Event source: EvntAgnt
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 1015

    Description:
TraceLevel parameter not found in the registry. Trace default level used is 32.

Using SNMP services in your environment?  Most unique computer systems in a domestic environment don't use SNMP but sometimes it gets installed or activated by accident ot trying to solve another network or Internet related issue.
    .
If you don't use SNMP, just uninstall it because it is a waste of CPU cycles otherwise productive.  If you are using SNMP, you must configure it to have valid startup parameters.

You will find Simple Network Management Protocol in apotheosis of Add/Remove Programs, add/remove components Windows, the option of management and monitoring tools, and then click details...

Uncheck SNMP (and the WMI component) If you are not using them and very well your way out and then reboot your system and check the event viewer.

Some warning in Event Viewer messages are excusable when the system boots place... as other services depend on each other to run.  Continuous (same warnings) messages in the event viewer are annoying, if you hope that you would see only the White type 'i' of information messages when things are well experienced.

No messages in the event viewer should never defy reasonable explanation.

If your event (s) does not resemble those from above, maybe we should see what looks like your event (s).

Here is how to post an event to the event viewer in a message:

When you double-click on an event, it will open a window of properties with more information.  On the right are black up and down arrow keys to scroll through the open events. The third button that looks like two overlapping pages is used to copy the details of the event in your Windows Clipboard.

When you find an interesting event that occurred at the time of your question, click on the third button at the top and arrows to copy the details and then you can paste the details (right click, paste or CTRL-V) the text in detail here for analysis.

If it is your desire, remove any personal information attached (such as user, computer).

To get a fresh start on any log of the event viewer, you can choose to clear the log (the log backup is available), then reproduce your problem, then view only the events at the time of your problem.

Do, or do not. There is no test.

    Hi Andy,.

You will need to replace the drive hard as the bios test indicates he does not physically, so wiping will not solve the problem.  It's a quick procedure to replace the HARD drive and a new will cost you about $40.  As I said, let me know if you need a quick guide on how to do this.

  • HP Pavilion with Vista, SP2 m9510f keeps freezing upwards

My HP Pavillion (with Vista, SP2) m9510f started to freeze until a few months previously, apparently at random times. I did all the cleaning of the computer and diagnosis operations I can think, nothing helps. Most of the common time it freezes is when I use Outlook (writing emails, etc), but also when I'm on YouTube. A check on my Windows application event log shows frequent instances of the CAPI2 (same ID 11) error, generally followed the WMI (event ID 10) anywhere between 20 and 50 seconds after the CAPI2 error. This pair of errors still happens when I start the computer, but sometimes also occur just before a freeze. I used the tool of Microsoft 'Fix - It' which should resolve the CAPI2 error, but it made no difference. I also have occasional "SidebySide" errors and mistakes 'Hello Service', as well as system errors 'Bowser '. I'm running out of ideas and hope someone can help me, that these system freeze seem to occur with increasing frequency. Thank you, John.
