PeopleSoft content Group Type/groups in the profile management
Hello Experts,
We know all that we have the ability to create and then group content types followed by members of the group in the profile of groups of content management.
We are in PS 9.1 and there is a requirement for business, that we must answer. Company wants us to create specific content items to countries under a content type.
For Ex - if the content type is 'Skills' then the items must be created for each country so that while adding in the competency profile, a user can only see the desired elements that belong to his country. Here's how we did it:
Content type - SKILLS
Type of group - content GBL
Content group - GBR, IND, DEU
Members of the Group of content ANALYTICS, COMMUNICATION (GBR)
Content of the members of the Group - DEVELOPMENT, MARKETING (IND)
We created above setup of profile management-> catalog content.
However, we do not know how to associate the Type of group/content content to profile types so that when HR adds skills and profile, he or she is able to see only the items you want.
For example, when the HR user who belongs to the GBR country, cannot see the ANALYTICSCOMMUNICATION skills
Please return back with your answers. This can be achieved with a customization, but we do not want to go with this if it is possible with the delivered features.
I found the answer to this question. Its very simple, there is nothing to configure when HR user adds content items quick page automatically gives options to choose the content item based on a Group of Content Type or content group. It goes the same for workers who carry out transactions through ESS.
Thank you

Group missing user profile manager
Server 4.0 on OSX 10.11.1 using.
I have installation manager profile and work for our students by having the mac server running as the OD server with the profile as well as related to the AD Manager to allow users. In the Profile Manager, I have a group called student that contains all the users of the student. He works well with the Manager to set up profile settings to customize the user experience however I noticed today that 1 student shows is no longer as in the Group of students in the Profile Manager. In two RFAS and editor of search on the mac Server directory the user shows as a member of the student group.
I can't understand why this appears a user is no longer in the Group Manager profile when everything clearly shows them as a member.
Problem has to do with LDAP on our Active Directory settings. The MaxPageSize was too weak, as mentioned in Mac OS x: first 1000 results when querying Active Directory - Apple Support

The Profile Manager select device unique error has occurred
10.11.4 / server 5.1
Profile Manager... I have a lot of ups and downs with that. Since the update 5.1, if I'm going to choose ONE device (not a group), the Profile Manager throws up the dreaded "an error has occurred" message and forces a screen refresh. Also, I get this when you try to delete an enterprise application (we use VPP now so don't have Enterprise). If they are related or not, I don't know.
Proxy service error log at the time of the message "a server error has occurred."
Our web filter is the 10.114.128.99 address in the case where that helps diagnose.

Can I have the Profile Manager uses the name of the device used when the placement of placeholders? Currently, all get renamed 'iPad' when the device through DEP configuration.
No, but
I was putting new devices in groups of temporary devices and renaming in bulk, once they are configured for the user, by using user variables / unit...
The other annoying problem would be the user modifies the device name when they connect it iTunes...

Energy saver settings missing from the Profile Manager
I'm under Server.app 5.1 on a MacPro El Capitan (10.11.4) running. I am trying to create a fake profile in the Profile Manager to distribute to my class to illustrate patterns of school boards and want to create one for the energy-saving settings. Unfortunately, this option is missing! Where would it be? That's all I see for the operating system parameters:
Elementary my dear Watson!
- Ensure that you have a group of devices for the appropriate devices, whether it is portable Mac or iOS devices.
- Register at least a device in this group
- And continue to change the settings for this group
- You will find savings on OS X to change
- The same would be the procedure for iOS payload found in the part of the iOS.
Hope that helps

Hi, I have recently updated my Server 5.0.15 under El capitan 10.11.3.
After that, Service OD and the Profile Manager can be activated server GUI.
Of course, all users on my network are missing from the list of users; just local users remain.
Reason: cannot be connected to the node 127.0.0.1
How can I recreate an OD without use of app server?
Thank you.
P. S.
Of course, even in the local server translates users preferences pane not connected.
Many Open Directory problems can be solved by taking the following measures. Please test after each of them that you have not already taken it and back up the data before making any changes.
1. the OD captain must have a static IP address on the local network, not a dynamic address. It must not be connected to the same network with more than one interface; for example, Ethernet and Wi - Fi.
2. you must have a working DNS serviceand the host name of the server must match the FQDN name. To confirm, select the server by its name in the sidebar of the window of the server application, and then select the Preview tab click the button change on the host name line. The access that your sheet of server, the domain name must be selected. Change the host name, if necessary. The server must have at least three levels (for example, "server.yourdomain.com") name, and the name must not be in the top-level ".local" domain, which is reserved for Hello.
3. the main DNS server used by the server must be itself, unless you use another internal DNS server. The only DNS server on the clients should be internal, they should get from the DHCP server, as appropriate.
4. If you have accounts with basic network directories, make sure that the URLS are correct in the user settings. A return status of 45 from the demon authorizationhost in the newspaper may mean that the URL for the installation directory was not being updated after a change in the host name or the file sharing protocol (AFP, SMB, or vice versa.) If the server and the clients run all OS X 10.10 or later, directories should be shared using SMB instead of AFP.
5. follow these instructions to recreate the Kerberos configuration on the server.
6. If you use authenticated connection, check the validity of the certificate of the master. The common name must match the host name and domain name. Unselection and then reselect the certificate in.app was reported to have an effect in some cases. Otherwise, delete all certificates and create new ones.
In the case of a self-signed certificate, create a trust profile in the Profile Manager and deploy it to the customers. On the server, you may need to create the folder
/etc/openldap/certs
and place a copy of the certificate of the server, for example:
/etc/openldap/certs/server-name
Also add a directive to the file
/etc/openldap/ldap.conf
of the form
TLS_CACERT /etc/openldap/certs/server-name
7 remove the link, then to connect customers in the preferences users and groups window. Use the FQDN of the master name.
8 restart the master and clients.
9. do not connect you to the server with the account of the user of a network.
10 turn off the internal firewall in use, including third-party "security" software
11. If you have created replica servers, remove them.
12. If OD has recently stopped working while it was working before, you can be able to restore automatic backup in/var/db/backups, or a snapshot of the time of this backup Machine.
13. If there is slapd errors in the log, try the following steps.
Disable the Open Directory in the server application.
Enter in a shell:
cd /var/db/openldap
sudo -s
db_recover -c -h authdata
db_recover -c -h openldap-data
Turn on Open Directory.
14 reset database password strategy:
sudo pwpolicy -clearaccountpolicies
15. as a last resort, export all users od. In the Open Directory of the server pane, delete the OD server. In some cases, you may need to use the shell to remove the server. Then recreate it and import the users. Make sure that the UID is in the range 1001 +.

Sign third-party LDAP in the Profile Manager
Hello
We have implemented the LDAP authentication against our OpenLDAP Ubuntu Server that works very well for all services except the Profile Manager. I can't see groups or users in the web UI of PM. Connection under server.local/mydevices does not work too.
The paper says 'missing externalID' oder '[user] not found' when a ldap user tries to connect to mydevices.
Unfortunately it does not help:
I appreciate your help.
Thank you

is there someone who can help me with this?
Thank you!

Need to pull the inventory since the Profile Manager
We have 125 + ipad devices in the Profile Manager. I would like to export the name ipad, carrier no_serie and cell phones and other cell Info for all devices in a text or CSV file. I can go to the details of each instrument section and manually search each of them, but it's tedious.
There must be a way to use the Profile Manager to help inventory devices, otherwise it must be a critical feature added.
This can be done. You will need to query the database directly. Try this:
1: connect to the database (do this on the server running the Profile Manager)
sudo psql - U _devicemgr d devicemgr_v2m0 h/Library/Server/ProfileManager/Config/var/PostgreSQL
2: you will be asked your admin password. You will not see what you type. When you're finished, press return.
3: you'll be in the interactive shell and get a prompt as follows:
psql (9.3.9)
Help, type "help".
4: Congratulations, you have connected to the database. We start to dig down and find out what is stored in there.
5: to list databases, use this command (it's a lowercase L):
\l
6: you should see a result that looks like the following:
List of databases
Name | Owner | Encoding | Gather | CType | Access privileges
----------------+------------+----------+---------+-------+--------------------- ------
devicemgr_v2m0 | _devicemgr | UTF8 | C | C |
Postgres | _devicemgr | UTF8 | C | C |
template0 | _devicemgr | UTF8 | C | C | = c/_devicemgr +.
| | | | | _devicemgr = CLC/_devicemgr
Template1 | _devicemgr | UTF8 | C | C | _devicemgr = CLC / _devicemgr +.
| | | | | = c/_devicemgr
(4 rows)
7: the database of interest is called devicemgr_v2m0. In order to interact with it, we must select the it. To select a database, use this command:
\c devicemgr_v2m0;
8: If you have changed successfully, you should see this notification.
You are now connected to the database "devicemgr_v2m0" as user "_devicemgr".
9: to display all tables in the database, by using this command:
\dt
10: in the list, you will see a few tables of interest. For example, devices, device_groups, vpp_products, xsan_networks, etc. To see what is stored inside these tables, use the following command:
Select * from devices;
11: change devices to another the table name if you want to discover the other tables.
12: now get what you want. Here are two example queries:
Select "DeviceName", "SerialNumber" of devices;
Select "DeviceName", last_checkin_time of devices;
13: bind the columns that you want to collect to get your report.
14: empty the results to a text file.
15: when you have finished, exit the interactive with shell
\Q
I hope this helps. Can be done. Enjoy your reports running.

Firefox does not start, the Profile Manager is not available
Firefox worked, then update it does not start. I tried all the fixes; However, the Profile Manager is not accessible or even present in the execution file. I unintalled and reinstalled several times, but I still can't get it to work. There is no Windows or Norton firewall block so I do not understand. What can I do? I want to use Firefox because it's the best browser; but now I'm forced to use Oscar. It's not terrible, but I prefer the features I've had with Firefox
I had upgraded to the latest version; but the thought of demotion to the version which worked perfectly. In the end, I had to defrag, do a registry clean and optimization of performance of PC, but for the upgrade launched. So, I'm happy to say that I reply to this post with my Firefox browser. Thank you very much for your help. If all goes well, I won't have problems.

When the Profile Manager stores data profiles created?
I have several profiles of Firefox that I created with the Profile Manager, but I find no where the Profile Manager stores data for profiles created because even if I delete all the firefox location of C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Mozilla user data files and all the data in the registry though Firefox I start the Profile Manager still lists all created profiles.
Then, where the data for profiles created is stored?
Hello, these data are stored in subfolders of \Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming- profiles - where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data

Hello
I can't get my firefox shortcuts to go directly on the Profile Manager. I don't know why. I know I have the target correctly configured in the properties, but he still won't be going to the nursery to profile. Help, please.
Here is what is the location of the target in the properties:
"C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla"-profilemanger
I have not had a problem yet. Did that for about two years. This most recent update erased the "profilemanager" - no-remote-p. I added it waala and back in! Out of service again.
But duly noted. Thanks for the tips.

Hello
The latest version of Firefox is currently 33.1.1 - can you try to upgrade to the latest version and then see if the crash still happens?
- (complete installation) https://www.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/all/
According to your crash report, is marked 'nvumdshim.dll '. You can also try updating your video drivers?
