Performance optimization

Is there any alternative tuning upwards for windows vista?... because I'm not like that disk cleanup, fragmentation and install any piece of programs... I'm getting sick of this uh... I'm just a question... If there is...

Thanks in advance!

ZrPreZario

Not really. Just do the normal maintenance is very good. Certainly, you should not install any programs type "tune-up."

    I downloaded Spyhunter3 in a moment of madness as a result of a search for info on 'vista antivirus 2008' is the first mover to appear. Since then, I have not found any reviews or comments that make me feel good in the past for £30!

    Analysis indicates its cleaned up that system but the messages DLLs appear on the re-boot and vista Antivirus 2008 - optimizer performance jump in and take over frequently, my free 90 days McAfee product is also does not remove one of them. IM browsing through firefox but still once not without result.

  • Satellite A110-103 - 2 GB RAM - gaming performance optimization - SOLUTION

    Hello

    For those of you who have 2 GB of RAM installed on the laptop and want to play games like f.e.a.r.2 PROJECT ORIGIN, it's performance that I have tested on my Toshiba Satellite A110-103!

    If you want to add 2 GB of RAM or more to your laptop please read [this post and my experience with upgrades RAM | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=153005#153005]! It could help you save money!

    Before you install the 2 GB of RAM, I used to have a paging file 4096 defined in Windows for drive C.
    After that I installed the 2 GB of RAM, I wanted to play f.e.a.r.2 Project Origin on low heat.
    However, the game played horrible with low display rate. So I wanted to know if there is a way to disable virtual memory (swap file) and only use real RAM.

    Most of the discussions about the paging files disabling said it there is no way or point by doing this!
    Well, I decided to give it a try!

    I disabled the paging file to * start-> Control Panel - > system-> advanced-> performance-> settings-> advanced-> virtual memory - > Exchange-> no paging file *. I restarted my laptop and after the reboot in my case I could see the big difference in speed!

    TEST: I opened FEAR2 - Project Origin started playing and my character's movement, where much more receptive and lag-free! : D

    Conclusion: In my case disable virtual memory (swap file) really boosted my gaming experience! And I play on an ATI X200M with 256 MB shared memory card!
    Try this and if you get good results please post them here! I have

    Best regards

    Hi dude

    Thanks for this message
    Usually the pagefile should help you increase the performance of RAM
    USIN the page file, the data that must be stored in RAM would be transferred to the HARD disk and therefore a pieces of RAM would be free

    However, thank you for this return of experience and your comments!

  • The best way to learn performance optimization?

    An area that has been lacking in my DBA knowledge was instance tuning. I'm pretty adept at SQL statement tuning (at least, to interpret plans and change SQL or a structure to make them better), but quite ignorant of the instance listening - how to set the good numbers of parameters, what to watch to make sure that everything is balanced, etc..

    Someone at - it care to recommend a book on this subject?

    I would prefer something that deals with 11g, but I guess that a book of 10, 2 - old era would be nice. I hope ever return to 9i ;-)

    Ideally, something that deals with approaches non - OEM - Oracle seems to assume everyone has bought OEM (and the pack of D & T), but this isn't always the case.

    Thank you!

    The 11g R2 Performance Tuning Guide (free, but sometimes does not indicate when a cost extra license is required, probably completely ignores Statspack and might be too focused on the OEM):
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11882_01/server.112/e16638/TOC.htm

    Troubleshooting book Oracle Performance (did a very good job of telling this property which requires costs of licenses and the good and bad, what can happen when you implement a suggestion - few initialization parameters is discussed, if I remember, you can read a mini essay I wrote about the book on Amazon's site):
    http://www.Amazon.com/Troubleshooting-Oracle-performance-Christian-Antognini/DP/1590599179

    If you have access to Metalink (MOS), take a look at 390374.1 Doc ID Oracle Performance Diagnostic Guide (there were a few errors in the guide when I checked a year previously, but overall very good reference).

    -------------------------
    Edit:
    I just took another look at the book of Troubleshooting Oracle performance via interface of Google Books - there are several pages that describe the function/impact of various initialization parameters:

  • question about performance optimization

    Hi friends,

    In our project, according to the changes of condition, a developer has changed its select query.
    This query uses essentially most of the rows in a table
    (consider table_a with col1, col_2, col_3, and col_4 using oracle 10 g DB
    Col_1 is PK).

    The query will in a manner similar to this.
    create or replace package pkg_sample is
       type ref_cur is ref cursor;
       procedure proc_ex(
          p_col_2   table_a.col_2%type,
          p_col_3   table_a.col_3%type,
          p_col_4   table_a.col_4%type,
          o_result   ref_cur);
    end pkg_sample;

    create or replace package body pkg_sample is
       procedure proc_ex(
          p_col_2   table_a.col_2%type,
          p_col_3   table_a.col_3%type,
          p_col_4   table_a.col_4%type,
          o_result   ref_cur) is
       begin
          open o_result for
             select *
             from   table_a
             where col_2 = p_col_2
             and     nvl(col_3, 'A') = nvl(p_col_3,'A')
             and     nvl(col_4, 'A') = nvl(p_col_4,'A');
       exception
          when others then
             raise;
       end proc_ex;
    end pkg_sample;
    Now, I have a question regarding the use of NVL on both sides of the select query.

    As our request includes not PK, its doing a table scan on the entire table full.

    Now, we can create a function based index... do we need to have indications for each combination? (i.e. when the col_2 is not null and col_3 is null, etc...)

    It don't you guys think, we can use NVL on both sides or is it possible to write the select query for maximum performance?

    Thank you
    Jack

    instead of NVL, I would use this:

    and   (a.col2 = b.col2
           or (a.col2 is null and b.col2 is null)
          )

    This way, you avoid conflicts with the coded hard 'a '.

    HI, I need to know if there is another way to make this request.

    EXA REVIEWS

    EXAM_DATE GROUP, TOPIC;

    Thank you!!

    Hello

    If all the data are in the same table, you shouldn't do any subqueries.

    Maybe something like that

    SELECT exam_date, object

    , COUNT (CASE WHEN rank IN (9, 10) THEN 1 END) pending

    , COUNTY (CASE grade WHEN (4, 5, 6, 7, 8) THEN 1 END) as approved

    , COUNTY (CASE of rank WHEN IN (0, 1, 2, 3) THEN 1 END) DISAPPROVE

    Reviews

    GROUP BY exam_date, object

    ;

    If you would care to post a small example of data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements) and the results desired from these sample data, then I could test this.

    3. START TO
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE "INSERT INTO temp_emp

    many of my senior colleagues say that the 2nd is faster than the other two. But the feeling that the 1st is faster than others. My prediction is simple, for example, SQL is faster than PL/SQL. Kindly help me in this regard.

    Ofcourse SQL is faster.

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

      The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

    See you soon.
