  I have two acer aspire 5517 laptop. They were purchased at the same time and run Windows 7 Home Premium.

  Connects to the wifi at home showing 54 Mbps and dslreports about 8 Mbit/s down, 2 Mbps upward on wifi using the cable modem.

  The other has connection problems and when that happens, it shows a 1 Mbps connection, and dslreports shows approximately 700 Kbps down and 300 Kbps upwards.

  Drivers, updates, bios, etc. seem to be the same for both machines, but the 2nd machine seems to run wifi much more slowly and regularly fails to connect.
