I think that spending that much on a printer, it would last 2 years? Maybe it's the lifecycle of HP printers? Im very disappointed with HP on this issue.   I went through the diagnostic process because my printer gives me a view of alignment failed and my black ink will not print.   It is established that I need to replace the print head.  Is it complicated?  What should I do when I need the printer/fax every day?  I have no time for that computer to be down for a day, and even less for as long as it takes to get the part here and replace it myself.  Or worse, if I send to HP to have the work done.

  Replacement of the print head is not complicated, it can be done in 5 minutes.  Before doing this, you could be sure that the ventilation openings are not connected and you might try to soak the printhead as shown here.

  AirPrint does not support black ink only printing, however the HP ePrint app allows it.

  Note that the option is available only for documents (for example Office, PDF, Web pages and emails files), but not for the Photo files.

I had problems before printing (black ink would not introduce yourself, sensor said that there was still a lot) so I ordered new cartridges. I printed a report of quality and the color came out great but black came out uneven. Then I used the align parameter and it printed once more uneven black ink and the screen on the printer read "the alignment page failed. It's frustrating, because the printer was used only at the end of last semester and he has not worked since I set up for this semester. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

  The steps in this troubleshooting page can help solve the problem.  If it is printing black but spotted I expecially make sure I check the vents and run a cleaning cycle.  If the above does not resolve the issue, see the post here.

  Grayscale is more useful for printers that have four or more cartridges. You can find on the feature by clicking on this link, but I'm not positive how useful it will be for you.

  Insert a black cartridge in the color slot will not have to act as a backup cartridge. The printer will see that it is not a color cartridge and refuses to read or use it.

  Please let me know if that solves your problems.

  Just installed a new print 60xl cartridge to replace the one that was being ink. Now the black ink basically does not print. I cleaned the cartridges 4 times and run all Diagnostics pages. The black prints just a small piece of the upper part of the letters on the pages of diagnostics and in grayscale on the test pages.

  (1) once will open the support page please select the country in which you are

  located. Then enter your model of HP on the right number.

  (2) then choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the

  bottom of the page "HP Support - Contact" to fill in the form provided

  (3) Once finished, click the "Show Options" at the bottom right.

  (4) Finally, scroll to the bottom of the page and select ' Get phone

  You can try to unlock the black cartridge using a cotton swab soaked in hot water.

  Turn the printer off by removing the power cable.

  Remove the black cartridge & you we see a wire mesh DAB gently with the Q-Tip.

  A cleanup operation between attempts.
