Permissions in windows 7, «you are not allowed to save in this location...» »
Hello
I have recently reinstalled the RC of windows 7 to windows 7 after its release, since the reader that I use to store most of my data etc won't let me download files to a folder on the disc, I get the message "are not allowed to save in this location, you want to save in the"Chocolate"instead... I have administrator rights and set permissions on all the folders for. me, I have watched many forums microsoft no, only to discover that I tried all the suggestions here :/
Hello Marilyn,.
Sorry its taken if for a long time to get back to you, I almost forgot this thread, I found a 'solution', which means I just download the files every time windows I would and re - arrange them later... but I would rather sort... so to answer your questions...
I'm developer/technician... and just on main computer, I always do a fresh install, then Yes, it was a clean install, I formatted the drive as the windows RC version 7 is installed and on the new Windos 7 instead.
The user account is the one that I created during installation... 'Chocolate' and has rights admin etc...
I have not tried to create a new administrator... but I don't think that's the question that I had some success with the player and did all my shortcuts 'user' (documents pictures videos music etc.) in folders on the same drive, well, the folder that I use for downloading and another which I use to store/organize applications install files or utilities etc doesn't let me download for them. I can copy do them things, create new files and folders, etc, but all this "permission administrator" needs to give in this case I just click ok...
The clean boot is an idea... but what will really prove something that runs at windows startup is the cause? So what that it either from 60 to 100 processes running at the same time, that it sounds pretty useless in my opinion, so research will start for whoever it is :/
I thought just disable UAC all together, which could shed light on the issue... I don't mind given this security feature, I usually know what im doing and have a good knowledge of what should and shouldn't tbe running etc, often even catch the virus before my antivirus... Speaking of which, this problem occurred before that I have nothing installed on the machine, it is trying to download the latest drivers after the new installation that I first noticed the problem...
The only other thing I can think is, perhaps, when I set the permissions and or possession of the car it does not define correctly and windows always "think" I don't have permission?:
Look forward to your thoughts

Error Msg: you are not allowed to save in this location
I am logged on as administrator under MS Windows 7 (64-bit), while moving files around different hard drives. I also use Adobe Photoshop CS4 to edit files. When I try to save the file under a new name to the location where I got the originals, I get an error prompt that says: 'you don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator for approval. You want to save in the folder my pictures instead? »
I was the administrator user (which I already was in the first place), but that doesn't change anything. I can save my images in the folder, and then move the file to the original folder.
My computer is an AMD Phenom II 560 built house with 3 unlocked cores, 8 GB of RAM and I'm saving for a 3 TB hard drive that was still 220 GB of free space. I use this facility for a week, now, but have never had any problems until today. What is going on?
Yes, because of the UAC you actually run things as an administrator "of the privileged' - that is, as another different user. Probably the file worked when you were recorded as the other user does not grant you privileges to write in there in this way.
As I said, if you just want to work the way you expect (that is, when logged in as administrator, good blood you have administrator privileges) then you will need to disable UAC. Understanding of the works of UAC and also read on the Windows folder and file permissions, are your keys to turn the unexpected in the understood.

You are not allowed to save in this location
Has anyone found a solution for problems with Windows 7 and save it and access the errors? "You don't have permission to save in this location" "access denied" "need administrator...". »
I am the only user of my computer and installed Windows 7 myself on a new hard drive.
I took possession of all readers.
I gave to each user account full control on each folder.
I updated the UAC low while there is no control user access.
I know I shouldn't be doing these things because it's a bad habit and door breaching security but that is what offers Microsoft. Unfortunately, none of this seems to help - I still get constant mistakes that I don't have permission to write files to different locations on my hard drives.
How can I get rid of these stupid error messages? Is there a way to disable any stupid security prevents?
It always seems to be a major problem that I found thousands of users who are also in the same situation when I google it. I've had been avoiding to install Windows 7 as long as possible and could return to new XP.
EDIT: I am also the admin.
Thanks for your time and your help. Took me awhile, but I discovered the my quickheal antivirus was causing the problem, as soon as I turned the safe browsing, the issue has been resolved... Ty anyway... :)

Windows 8, that you have not permission to save in this location
I have seen many answers to this question, but all were dealing with earlier versions of Windows, so I was reluctant to apply the any suggestions. I read "Windows 8 for Dummies" and still can not find an answer to my problem here either.
I bought a new computer running W8 and Mozy backup to restore my files online. They were all restored to the new computer in C:/Users/username/my documents and my desktop computer.
I had 31GB of data, which includes photos, documents, spreadsheets, etc. Any item I open and edit, then try to save, I get this error message: you are not allowed to save in this location
Any suggestions?
Kind regards
Bob
In fact... This seems to be a simple matter of some of the files 'user' 'read-only '.
I had this same question - and rather than security of facility access for "Everyone" read/write/delete, etc... I simply took the 'read only' attribute out of the areas that I wanted to join that were safe.
Not having not problems with the combos "window + Key". They seem clear enough to me. But that's another debate.
Summary:
- Navigate to the directory above the one you are having issues with that. (For example, to remove the limitations on your desktop - access c:\users\
. Then you'll see "Desktop" listed.) - Right-click on the directory wanted to "unlock". (In the example I used in #1, 'Office' is what I want to unlock).
- Select 'Properties', and then clear the attribute "read only".
- Click on 'Ok' - and if necessary, tell it to apply to all files, folders, and subfolders. (This is supposed to be the case if you do that here. Otherwise, you go to specific files and folders and unlock them).
Voila! I have regained access to files and folders.
Now... Why this happened in the first place, I'm not sure. It's for someone smarter than me to report for us all. But that did the trick without any changes to security settings (finally...) Parameters of safety 'Read only' TRUE... of course IF a security "attribute").
Hope this helped...

It is a 'feature' really annoying a logon trigger event is 'CONNECTION' not 'LOGON' that is to say there is a space after the opening of SESSIONChange your query to
Select * from dba_triggers, where triggering_event like 'LOGON '.
And you will find it.
See you soon,.

It is possible that you bought these items in the iTunes store use a different ID to Apple?
If so, you must use this command to allow this computer again (in iTunes), but this time, enter the other Apple ID and password when you are prompted. A computer may be authorized as an Apple ID. You old computer might have allowed with more than an Apple ID.

You are not allowed to post in this forum
I can't start a topic in community vCenter (http://communities.vmware.com/community/vmtn/server/vcenter?view=discussions). This forum has access restrictions?
In fact the "Start a discussion" button/link shouldn't be there. You can only start new discussions in one of the forums that are listed in the 'Communities' box on the right.

"You are not allowed..."
Before posting, I have / am research on many articles published on the Internet that relate to this problem and nothing that I find no sense for me. I'm poor on computers, some of the Lingo is over my head.
I'm really confused. I have the program Sonic Multi Media and also CompuPic. I can format a new CD - RW and always get the message "you are not allowed to save in this directory. Check with the administrator for permission. I'm sure that the CD is correctly configured (that the disc has not been finalized) because I can check it on my desktop computer.
Can you explain this a little better?
Your help is really appreciated!
Sincerely,
K ~.

You are not allowed on this computer to install Kodak printer all in one
I have a kodal while a printer installed. When I try to print it will only allow me to print sizes THEY have. If click Custom to select the paper size, I really want to use it, says this feature is not available because you are not allowed to save the settings for this computer. I went to the permission settings and everything that the printer is checked with the exception of special permissions which it does not allow me to click on.
You might want the laptop computer and the other computer (with a crossover cable) network and then share the internet connection. Not only will you get operational, but will give you access to the internet without having to replace the modem (as long as the laptop is present and connected). Otherwise, you have no choice but to replace the modem and get this computer connected to the internet, then you can install your device - there is no way around that need to be connected while doing if this is required by the software.
I hope this helps. I'll help you set up the network, if you want to go this route.
Good luck.
