Change to read only the "Hosts" file get an error, that you have not permission to save in this location
Original title: change read only document___
In Windows7 Home 64 bit, I'm editing a document "Hosts" in System32 > drivers > etc >
It comes up with "you don't have permission to save in this location...".
I am registered as an administrator and I can't seem to change the blue box 'read only '.
I went to the command line using "attrib" but the answer is "no recognized internal or external command".

I am new to Windows Vista, but relatively competent in older versions. I installed the software on my new desktop computer. I am the only user on this computer and I have administrative rights. I installed the software in the Program Files directory. In the software, there is a folder for the working data file. I now try to 'restore' my data on this new computer file so that I can start working. I get an error message that says "you don't have permission to save in this location. Contact an administrator. "I have considered similar questions on this site and followed the advice to take possession of the file without success. I also created a new folder on the D drive, thinking maybe Vista I just wanted to keep C clean, but it gives me the same message. I can't save to the folder I created. Any advice?
Program Files is a protected directory. If possible you create the working folder for the data in your user account instead. Is it possible in the options of the program the program in a directory of your user account? Or, if you think that any other user you may need to use this program, you could create the directory Public. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

I installed Windows 7 RC today and trying the route of a local domain in C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts, but get an error when you try to save it with Notepad:
"You don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator for approval. »
If I try to save it to my documents and then copy the file over I have another error:
"You need give the administrator permission to copy to this folder."
My account is the only account is already an administrator.
How can I do this?
See you soon.
Right click on Notepad, and choose Run as administrator. Click on file, then open, then navigate to
\Windows\system32\drivers\etc
In the menu drop-down edit files text (*.txt) to all files (*. *)
Open the hosts file and change now :-)

Windows Media Player cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait until the current task is complete. If necessary, check that the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the latest device driver. ???
I just burn a CD with no problem at all. Using the same type of CD, brand new, I tried to burn another CD and got this error message:
Windows Media Player cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait until the current task is complete. If necessary, check that the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the latest device driver.
I close all programs running, restarted my computer, changed on the devices tab, the speed of burning... everything I know to do and all the things I've read in these forums, no luck... still get the exact same message. No idea why my CD-writer has decided to stop working for me?

I use Windows 7 Ultimate and I'm trying to back up the database of Northland under the C:\Program Files directory and I get an error message indicating "you don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator for approval. "I can't even save a text file to this place, so it has nothing to do with Windows Explorer. When I click the Windows Orb, it shows that I am logged on as administrator.
I haven't used Windows 7 much since installation and don't know if I would have been able to save in this location in the past, but I recently created a working group with my laptop (a little background information).
I searched through other posts for hours and nothing has worked for me.
It makes no sense at all. Any help would be appreciated,
ChrisIt is well known problem UAC (User Account Control) in Windows 7 that prevents you from storing data in system folders. You have these options:
- Change the database so that it stores its files in a different folder.
- Get a 7-compatible Windows version of the program.
- Turn off UAC (not recommended)

In the past I could navigate from one site to another without closing a tab. The messages now appear that say I have does not close a tab and need to close or to restore. I tried closing of tabs as I've used them but my tab bar shows no tabs open when I close Firefox. When I restart Firefox I get messages saying that I did not close the tabs! It's very annoying. How do I put it back for when I click the red dot, it is closed. and when I restarted Firefox it just goes to my home page? I use a Mac 10.6.8
No, there is no problem now with this parameter when the bug is fixed.
the problem is basically firefox 20 wrong classifies this way to close the browser as an accident & will launch the restore function of session at the next launch of the browser. the key to everything: config above completely shuts down service sessionrestore for accidents.Once the bug should be fixed in firefox 21, I would recommend resetting browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash back to its default value "true" If, so that you get the benefit of a restored session, where firefox crashes really some time.
