Photos in the Finder

I can't find my photo files in the Finder.  For example, I want to attach a photo in an e-mail message.  I click on the paper clip icon to attach a file, and it opens Finder.  When I select the pictures folder, it shows the folders where photos might exist, but there is no file photo (jpg, png, etc.) which are raised.  All I can choose is a folder picture icon.  To put a photo in an email, I have to open the camera app and drag and drop a photo on the email.  My photos are actually stored on my hard drive or just a magical place like iCloud?

Have you tried to export the photos of the database, in that they are stored?

  • Why the same photo's file size different in Photos and in the Finder?

I have a photo size 4608 x 3456. When I open the file information in the Apple's Photos app, it says that the file is 7.8 MB. When I open the same photo in the Finder and look at the news file, it is said that it is 3.1 MB on the disk. Why does this happen? All other metadata is the same in the pictures, Finder, Lightroom or Photoshop, but I can't understand why the file size seems to have changed since I dragged photo pictures to the Finder.

    Thank you.

  • If I delete a picture of the "finder" will be there also be deleted in "photos".

If I delete a picture of the "finder" will be there also be deleted in "photos"?

Not quite sure what you mean.  Finder allows you to search for things in the folders on your computer.  Photos is an application that has its own library where the pictures are stored.  If you find one of these photos in the Finder, then delete, Yes, it will disappear from your photo library.

  • How to retrieve virtual copies + information meta for photos which were in lightroom and climbed settles in the finder

    Hey there,

Since I bought my new camera, I was extremely organized in my new photo folders. (organized by date, name of the event. ex: "YYYY-MM-DD - golf tournament").

It's all about my 'external hard drive', in a folder called "photography hdd."

tonight, I decided to go in a different folder on the same external hard drive (external hard drive > media > photos) that was never held. I used the same organization method mentioned above and created folders organized by date to reorganize these photos.

then, when I was organizing the 'pictures' folder, I dragged all these organized by date records "photography-hdd", then deleted this folder "photos". in other words, I have added to my Lightroom main library folder where all the other those published were always.

then I got the idea great to change the name 'photography hdd' to 'pictures', simply because it was more clean...

Once in Lightroom, I did not know what to click to Update my file "photography hdd", now called "photos" in the Finder. so I think that I clicked and selected "update folder location" and selected the new 'pictures' folder (which was essentially the same folder as 'photography hdd' but with a new name - I guess it's this that mixed up Lightroom).

Then, all the pictures are gone. None appeared.

I decided to rename 'Photo' of 'photography hdd', hoping that Lightroom would recognize the name and then understand where the files are located. but it changed nothing.

I saw that I had not a lot of options, I tried to synchronize the folder "photography hdd." It appeared as if I was importing 12000 new photos - I understood so that the pictures I had initially in it would be not be recognized even if I put the folder parent its original name "photography hdd."

is it possible to recover the changes that I made to the files that were there at the beginning, until I screwed? all I care is to obtain changes that same back (called virtual copies I think).

Please note: I haven't changed the names of file and their respective names organized by date file. all, I changed, it was the name of the parent folder, but I put it its original name. the BIG problem and the cause of all this, is that I did all my changes to folder in the Finder, and not in Lightroom.

It may be better to use your last backup. Unzip the file and double-click the .lrcat file to launch your named catalog.

Then try to update the files individually link to the new location.

  • How to change default paths in the Finder

    Hello world

I would like to create a partition on the hard drive to separate the BONES of my personal data (documents, pictures, movies, music, etc.).

How can I change the paths by default for Documents, Images, Photos in the Finder so that they "point" the the new structure in the other partition?

    Thanks for any idea!

    Mathieu.

I don't know much on El Capitan. You used to be able to do with symbolic links that look like aliases, but are certainly not aliases.

Some of these things you can do with the applications themselves. iTunes (and probably all) allow you to store media or even your entire library in a different location.

  • where can I find images in the finder

Hello everyone, I find photos in the finder in case I want to open it with another (Lightroom) software?

PS: I totally hate the new Photo, but that's me.

    Export you Photos.

    File-> export-> unmodified Original

If you hate pictures then don't use it. It is not mandatory and LR is a much more powerful application.

  • Display in the Finder does not

Correct, there is no media browser in the finder - only for download or open or install windows

They show in the last import? check your type of event - they are probably n = just not where you are looking - in the last import done right click on one and show events - an event should open with your photo display - if not arrive then back up your iPhoto library and hold down the option and command keys at the launch of the iPhoto and repair permissions hen rebuild the database

  • Photos shows a date incorrect (January 1, 1970), even if the date in the Finder is correct

Recently, when I import pictures I took on my phone Android in Photos, they all indicate the date created January 1, 1970 (which, in my opinion, happens when there is no data to date) even if the described Finder properly the date of creation.

It also happened when I tried to import into iPhoto. The only exceptions are the videos and photos, that I have edited in my Android phone before copying them on my computer. I'm not sure if the problem lies with Photos or my phone, but apparently from the Finder Gets the correct date information should - not be possible for Photos as well?

Date Finder, do you mean the creation of file? Pictures which have a date in the form of data in the file? It's different to the creation date of the file that you usually see in the finder. Same place as the manufacturer of location data and camera will be stored.

Would the image Photo app is not looking at the creation Date of the file, but the Date field for Photo taking

  • How to manage the photos of the IPhone from the Finder (IMac)

I have connected my IPhone 6 to my IMac and would expect to see in the Finder so that I can remove or transfer the pictures from my IPhone on any folder in the Finder.

I get the connection to ITunes and IPhoto, but not in the Finder.

Photos on the iPhone are not accessible via the Finder. You can use Photos or Image Capture to import pictures from camera.

  • The exported photos do not appear in the Finder

I just discovered a quirk in the photos that might confuse some users how it confused me for a while.   It seemed to me to export successfully to the photos and videos from the photos app in a folder on my desktop, but they do not. Everything seemed to work. What was wrong?

I used the Terminal command to "show all files" and... that is, they were there exactly where I put them. What happened is that I have selected 'use the title' for the name of the file, but I had deleted all the titles, there is no information. Now I realize that I would have changed my preference finder to show all file extensions, and would have shown the speed to the top with nothing else than the extension:

    .jpg

    .jpg (1)

    .jpg (2)

    .jpg (3)

    etc.

The lesson is, do not delete your pictures titles or if you do, do not export your photos by selecting this option.

WoW!  It's really interesting. Thanks for sharing this!

I tried to reproduce this, and of course, I see the same thing on OS X 10.11.4.  The problem is, that a title erasing does not remove the title but creates a blank title, so that the picture has a title that is invisible.

As a test, import three new photos to multiple:

The first has a title, the other had a title, but deleted, the third party has never had a title.

When I select and export with title use 'as filename', only two photos will be displayed in the Finder.

The problem is, that deleting a title does not remove the title, but adds an empty title. If the photos are exported with the filename ".jpg".

And even make the Finder always show file extensions will not reveal the exported '.jpg' files in the Finder.

As a workaround solution, do not erase the title completely, but use an underscore character, as in the empty title '_' or similar. There needs to be a visible figure, a space is not enough.

  • New photos show in Photos app, but not in the Finder

    Hello.

I see the problem when I try to upload new photos to a website (Wordpress, for example).

I take a picture with my iPhone and using photo stream it will to the cloud and syncs quickly to the photo app on my mac. I see the new photo in Photos and can work with it, edit and export if I want to.

But, when I opened a dialoge "Upload" to Safari, I don't see the new picture available to download. It takes a long time for the new available through Finder photo / Upload dialoge.

I'm guessing this has to do with the fact that the Photos app maintains an internal state of pictures with respect to the Finder, or only periodically to update the index available to the Finder, but I don't know.

I do not want to export each photo I take pictures and download, it

My question, how can I speed up this process so I don't have to wait for hours at a time to download new pictures taken by my iPhone.

Well Yes, this has bugged me too for a while now. When you use Google Inbox, I need to drag or save photos on the desktop, then point at them through Chrome, then after sending my email don't forget to delete the pictures on my desk. Very, very boring because it is so vital to my job every day.

I hope this will be fixed soon!
