Is it possible to determine whether the device has a physical keyboard or a virtual keyboard?

You can use HardwareInfo isPhysicalKeyboardDevice...

  • I am often unable to enter text with the physical or virtual keyboard, making research and impossible connections in Firefox, forcing me to use Chrome. What to do

Use Google Nexus 9 with the latest Android. Since one of the recent os updates the keyboard sometimes fails to appear when I enter a text box on a page while using Firefox. This makes research and connections-impossible. Bluetooth virtual and physical keyboards fail to register. It is intermittent. Visit the same page in Chrome has no problem, but I want to continue with Firefox. Please let know us, if I can't fix this I'll have to give up Firefox. Shame!

    Hi Rijumati,
I understand that there are some forms on a few Web sites that does not load a keyboard to enter data in this text field. I'm happy to help you.

For the test, can you please give an example where that happens?
Also this happens with the default keyboard or another has been added?

  • HP Pavilion x 2-10-n113dx: spell check with virtual keyboard, but none with physical keyboard

On a HP Pavilion x 2-10-n113dx with the home edition of Windows 10 (64-bit).

What software/browser used, when it is attached to the keyboard (in desktop mode), I noticed 1) when you use my virtual keyboard it is a bar of spellchecker (which offers options to spelling/words) at the top of the virtual keyboard, but 2) when you use the physical keyboard, it doesn't seem to be any tool/service spell.

Is there anyway to get the spell using the physical keyboard? When I tap on the physical keyboard, virtual keyboard and its spellchecker bar is hidden.

    Hey @locacher,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! This is a great place to find solutions and help our community!

I understand that you have questions about the Auditors of spelling with the physical keyboard. I'd be happy to help you with that.

A spell checker does not come standard with the physical keyboard. You can still install a third party. You can search google App 'Spell Checker' or something alone those lines, however, we won't not preinstalled on the laptop to the physical keyboard.

  • BlackBerry Torch - virtual keyboard, a physical keyboard

    1. do you know how to display the keyboard in BlackBerry Torch programmatically if the physical keyboard is disclosed or not?

    2. how to detect if the physical keyboard BlackBerry Torch is disclosed or not?

    Thank you

The VirtualKeyboard class can be used to control the display of the virtual keyboard.  The class of sensor can be used to query the status of the sliding keyboard.  The SensorListener interface can be used to receive notifications when the keyboard is slide in or out.

  • Keyboard of Machine virtual VMware in caps lock shift when physical keyboard has caps lock

Recently, I upgraded my VMware Fusion to the latest version.  Now when I use Vista my keyboard is caps lock while my physical keyboard is not.  Is this a bug, or a misconfiguration, or something?

The State of capslock can sometimes get out of sync. We tried to solve this in the past, but it has sometimes resulted in the kernel panics, then we challenge it. If you use the Fusion 2.0, you can re-synchronize State with the Virtual Machine > touch send > caps lock.

    Hi @SPBU

By design, audible "tapping noise" happen when you press the physical keys.

Audible noise happen when you use the virtual keyboard. Thank you!

  • Peripheral physical keyboard

Hello fellow developers with the launch of Q10 right in front of us, I want to maximize the user experience for the q10. Instead of the weather, the device name is z10 or q10, I want to detect in time the physical or virtual keyboard device.

    How can I achieve this?

    Just found!

    In HardwareInfo:

    bool isPhysicalKeyboardDevice[read-only]

Indicates if the device is a physical keyboard device or not.

    Since: BlackBerry 10.0.0

  • Type ' |' on the physical keyboard Droid

I use connectBot to ssh in a computer at home, and there are a number of things I do that I need the ' |' symbol for.  This symbol is located on the virtual keyboards (switch to digital mode-> alt-> 3), but I can't find anywhere on the physical keyboard.  Anyone know if you can produce this symbol on the physical keyboard?

    Thank you.

ALT-SHIFT-comma produces the symbol you're looking for on the physical keyboard.

  • Suggestions of screen with the physical keyboard?

Y at - it a setting or a market app that would show suggestions of words when you use the physical keyboard?

Yes with the physical keyboard. In the settings I see prediction of words and the suggestion for software keyboard but no settings under hardware keyboard. However, always mine it on hardware, is right out of the box without changing setting. My Droid and Droid 2 have both made also. You have these settings controlled on the software keyboard settings? Mine seems to follow these settings for two keyboards.

  • Physical keyboard not witing the normal letters

    Hello

I recently bought a HP Slatebook x 2. When I am using the physical keyboard, it is not written the letter a o (Swedish) but on the contrary in writing the Norwegian/Danish versions (which are blue/green on the keys of the keyboard). My language is defined in Swedish in settings. How can I change the settings of the keyboard to write normal letters?

    Thank you.

Figured it out myself, the command was Ctrl + space

  • How to activate predictive text on the physical keyboard on x 2 Android Slate10

    Hello

I just bought a 10 x 2 with 4.3 installed Android slate. I want to know how to disable the predictive entry that appears when I use the physical keyboard (or the called party base).

When I use the Tablet without the base. The predicitve entry does not appear because I disabled it under "language settings &", but it seems that the same setting does not apply when I connected the tablet at the base.

Help, please. The pop-up window is really annoying and kill my otherwise wonderful experience with this tablet.

For example when I want google information on this product, I typed Slate10 but won't allow not predictive entry hit me beyond Slate1, because they do not have Slate10 on the list so I had to hit a space and come back to put in the '0'.

    Thank you.

    Kind regards

    Irene

Hi, I had just accidentally discovered the solution!
'Shift + Enter' will toggle the prediction of input when you use the keyboard/base.

  • Spectrum x 360: physical keyboard and Japanese IME

    Hi all

It is the first time that I post on this forum and I thank in advance those who would come here to help.

I suspect that my problem is very special, if not unique. In fact, after a few days of digging through the internet, I have not found a single reference to my problem, it is:

my hardware keyboard is Italian, but I often need to write in Japanese, so I installed the Japanese language and the Japanese IME input mode. But for the life of me I can't have the physical keyboard to type Japanese characters. Japanese IME is active, the romaji entry appears, and that's all. I can't go to the katakana or hiragana input.

If I try to open the Windows IME options this opens a second and shut (as it had crashed).

Same behavior when I try to access these options from the control panel. I tried to uninstall and reinstall 2 or 3 times without success.

In any case, the touch keyboard works perfectly with the Japanese IME. I can get into any kind of Japanese characters.

What can I do to type in Japanese also on the physical keyboard?

I solved it by installing ATOK2015 input method. It is a proprietary application that serves as an alternative to Windows Japanese IME. Then by chance, I put the Japanese system and Windows locale IME started working too. Anyway now I use ATOK (much better), so I don't care anymore.

I thank very you much for your time and your efforts.

Keep up the good work. I really appreciate the spectrum of x 360. It is the best laptop I've ever seen.

    Concerning

  • Passport system: Add support for scrolling through the physical keyboard

    Hi guys,.

as you know peripheral Pasport is the new support feature: scrolling in the list view/Scroll through the physical keyboard. It seems that this function should work automatically, but it is not working at all in my application. It works only partially to control the display of Web pages and only on the pages of the subsites of my web content.
Looks as the root cause of this issue is the list view must focus to handle keyboard events. OK, so the workaround can be call requestFocus() on the list view. It's a job but only until I do not touch the other control or scroll this list via the screen point of view! Or for example my app can show popup by clicking on list view and when this popup will be rejected the focus won't return to the display of the list...

So my question is what good way to add support for this feature? Do I really need to play with requestFocus()? Or maybe there's a simple way to always keep the focus on the display of the list?
    I really need help.

I've added a few features such as

    requestFocusForScrolling()

then get the signal of this active tab has changed, you can call this function to get the new focus

or on NavigationPane if returning to onPopTransitionEnded () calling the requestFocus on page function now on top

In my Pages, I always have a few features added like connect(), disconnect() cleanUp() init() and now also at the request of focus. In a few pages, these functions are empty, but I can use them in the generic functions where I only got one Page

    ----

not easy to touch OS oriented to add a key activated area outside the screen

It always depends on the field with the development: think of an Image when you change the size of gestures touch on keyboard or take a look at sales-charts where you "scroll" in the months of keyboard

Same pages may also have ScrollView and/or one or several ListView - it's do you stunts where is the update for keyboard gestures.
