place an image on an imported pdf file?

I have 106 pdf generated by a genealogy program. They need an image added to each of them. I can do in the genealogy program, but it increases the size of the pdf file by about 5 times the size of the image, so they are more than 10 MB each. These are for the print output and the printer wants the pdf from InDesign. My plan was to open the pdf files in InDesign (asked here about this earlier) as well as docx pages that are also in the book, and then export them for printing. Is it possible to add the images while the files pdf is open in InDesign?

I need to preserve the quality of the page layout for my final pdf (table with a very small font). I have Illustrator, and I can open PDFs in there and export or save as a number of file types. It would be a better route to add photos? Printing doesn't seem so clear to me when I do like eps or have, but maybe open it in InDesign would have a different result.

I have CS4 Web Premium (64-bit Win7), plan the InDesign trial download, once I have all ready to go, images cropped, pages etc. So I can't experiment right now, just read what I can find. I don't want to download the trial version and then run out of time. I don't decide if I want to buy until I got this road project. And I REALLY want this project went! Thanks for any advice.

If the image must be the same size and in the same position on each page, by all means put an empty block on the master page. Apply properties of scaling on the empty picture frame to save time. You can then place your images into the placeholders in the pages of the document without the need to substitute.

  • Can you import PDF files into other software?

I'm looking to see if there is a software that allows you to push data from a PDF file, software special. I use the accounting software and it would save my company a lot of time if our PDF invoices could be pushed into Quickbooks or converted in order to enter into our system without having to type in it.

    any suggestions?

The previous answer is just a little - if everyone uses the same format, etc etc, it would be fairly simple to import PDF files into other software. But alas, everyone sends a different format.

But there are there tools that work well. But they have limits. The tools work best if you have some layouts that you want to import (IE a known provider set). So, you need a reasonable volume of each - if not then just enter the data will be more effective.

Try looking at ChimpKey who do a good job of importing a PDF file. He does this by converting the PDF to XML, Excel, CSV etc. which will import properly in various popular software. If you have a good amount of data entry, then this approach certainly you will save time and money.

  • Recommended image resolutions / ratios for PDF files

    Hello

is there a recommended image resolutions / ratios for PDF files? As if I want my image to 100 x 100 pixels, should its JPEG source or what is 500 x 500 pixels? I want to make a good impression / about zoom, but without compromising the size of the file.

    Thank you!

I take this to mean that you expect people to print on a desktop printer, is not that you are planning to print 10,000 on a press.

In this case, you can safely downsample at 150 dpi to reduce the file size without seriously damaging the image quality to print (but use a high quality zip or jpeg compression).

  • I imported an EPS layered file in FrameMaker, but ONLY the EPS image appears in the PDF file. How to do everything to appear?

I imported a file .eps (a barcode) in FrameMaker and found that the omitted PDF everyting but the .eps image.  How can I get FrameMaker to recognize the text and images in the file FM, as well as the image of layered .eps file in the output PDF file? To test this, I also converted the .eps file (in PhotoShop) for a TIFF, JPG and GIF, PSD and imported of each in the doc of FrameMaker and created a PDF file.

When I imported the FM and PDFd .psd file, all of the text and images of the file FM appeared, but the bar code has low resolution.

When I imported the TIFF records in FM and PDFd, nothing appears in the PDF file except the barcode image and the text block, to which it is linked. The bar code has low resolution.

With a JPG image, everything appears in the PDF but the barcode has low resolution.

With a GIF image, it appears in the PDF, but t barcode a low-resolution.

First thing you should try is to create a PDF file of the EPS file using Acrobat only. If it does not come out as expected (in the PDF file), then you know exactly where the problem is. Create a PDF file of the EPS in Photoshop is not a good test.

You also need to update your version of FM12 - you have a patch behind.

  • Define the quality of compression for individual images to export a PDF file?

When is export a PDF in the ID file, you are given an option to downsample and compress images. My problem is, I want to compress images more than others. For example, a photo in the paper could be much more than a sous-echantillonnees png logo. Of course, I could go and pre-sous - sample each image to the right size in photoshop, but it may involve sort of. Is there a way I could exclude at least one particular image of compression?

    Hi Graham,

If this is all for a PDF file, which should be light for web downloads and not for print jobs we can do the following:

    1. export a PDF file with different settings Downsample

2 merge PDFs with Acrobat Pro

    Using the functionality of layers:
    A. import as layer
    B. flatten layers

To get the different resolutions of individual images, configure the images that you do not want to see with a separate export for re - print.

If this idea will work or not work depends on the structure of your page layout. And it might be a little automated through scripts. The extent of automation can be low or high. If images that shouldn't be downsampled can be identified by certain rules, legal regimes may or other means such as styles of object applied to the container used frames per etc., it could be high. And also individual export can be done by the script.

    Kind regards
    Uwe

  • Missing fonts in imported PDF files

I have a document with several PDFs 'Place '.  When I go to print, it tells me that I have lack of fonts.

To search for a font, I see missing fonts and what they came to PDF.  Only search a font will not let me replace it.

I can't change the font in the PDF file either because it was not made by my Department.   I tried with and without frame setting.  Tried incorporated and related.

Here is an old workaround that might do the trick. Add a transparent element to your PDF and then use for your vector fonts flattening preview, every once in a blue moon that works, even if the required fonts are not on your system (I think). In Acrobat, go to Document > watermark > add > text (hit the SPACEBAR) to 99% opacity, this will add a transparent invisible watermark. Go to Advanced > printing > Flattener Preview > vectorize all the text > Apply. If you see a message that the fonts should be post incorporated, read Peter # 1 once more and print out the PDF to an image, this option may be under Advanced options in your print dialog box. Not ideal, difficulty, but might suit your needs.

  • How do you prevent image selection in a pdf file?

I try to avoid the selection of an image in a PDF file. In my file, it is possible to click and select an image that gets in a blue color. I would like to avoid that, creating a file that looks like this: http://www.dcc.ttu.ee/lap/lap5760/jy992d48301-j_fx.pdf

Note that I speak not the encryption or the security option, but an alternative where we cannot yet choose the image of May. I am well aware that this will not copy the image (there are always print to the screen, in any case), but I just want to avoid the possibility to select the image in any case for an academic article.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

The file you linked to is guaranteed... So if you want that your file the same behavior, apply security as well.

Another option is to export your file in a format of image and then re - generate a new PDF file from these images. That would be 'flatten' in a way that would make the unselectable original images, but I think it's a long way to go for this small difference.

  • How to hide the names of names/path of images embedded in a PDF file?

I created a PDF to a Word document, and the problem is that the PDF document is the file names and path for all images incorporated into the PDF document. I do not want the information posted. I don't want to send the PDF to customers and ask them to read the names that I attributed to these images, it's messy. And I lost many original image files so that they exist only in the Word document, so I can't go back and rename them. I searched the internet for an answer, but I could not find one any where.

When you create (accessible) PDFs coined the word, placed bitmap images will use the file name as 'ALT text' If you do not set something else for the text to say, because an image without ALT text is a failure against the accessibility standards. You cannot change this default action, so you should put your own text that's significant in the ALT field for each picture - that's what you should do anyway if the PDF conforms to standards.

You can can set the text in Word, but this depends on your version where dialog boxes - Google for it - or you can change/remove it in Acrobat by using the navigation pane of tags on the left side of the window (right click on the sidebar if it is not visible). Explore the structure of tags to find the "

" tag you want to change, right-click, and choose Properties, then put something in the "Alternate text" field This process is not something you can automate easily, but if you don't need labels at all, you can save without tags (or print to PDF).
