Place the media player by default in windows vista

I have Windows vista and internet explorer 9. I put windows media player as the default program for playback of videos or music files. However, when I play Youtube files, the files are played in Adobe Flash Player. Why is this? and how do I change the files in Youtube are played in Windows media player?

You can not.  YouTube is a website, and videos have been incorporated into the page for playback using Flash.  Media Player cannot read Flash files and is designed primarily for the downloaded/downloadable media.  If you download a MOV, WMV, MPG, etc., then play it in Media Player.

    Use the following suggestion:
    1. Start the player, your device and connect it to your computer. If you are prompted, select the AutoPlay option to sync the device using Windows Media Player.
    1. Do one of the following:
    2. If the player has selected to sync your device automatically, click Finish. When you do so, the Player syncs your entire library to your device. After that, your device will automatically sync whenever you connect it to your computer while Windows Media Player is running.

I hope this helps with your question.

    Windos Media Player/Real Player

Now when I play a radio episode old days of the Internet, it is default to iTunes, and I want the default for RealPlayer or Windows Media Player, so I can move the flag past the boring parts.  I can find is no longer a menu OPEN a URL to click on paste the URL of the episode of radio old time.  Where did you hide it?  I wish you stop the upgrade of these things and let the only interfaces!

So I guess that the problem is solved? If you want to change the association, you can set all the elements containing MP3s to always ask in the Applications Panel. Then, the next time you click on an MP3 link, you should be able to select the application you want to open it with.

  • How to reset the windows media player 12 default settings

Original title: how to reset the windows media player 12 default settings

My Windows media Player 12 has stopped play all the sounds (Win 7 HP 64 bit) - I can play sounds with Windows media Center, DIVX, etc. of Winamp, but not with Win Media Player. I would like to reset Windows Media Player 12 to its default state, either by doing a reset or reinstall. Can someone tell me how to do what you please?

Do these two steps [they are the closest thing possible to uninstall then reinstall WMP & will actually provide a new installation of WMP]

1 unload WMP - Panel, programs and features, [left] turn on or off has Windows, multimedia features, clear box Windows Media Player, Yes, OK, restart the PC.

2 reload WMP - Panel, programs and features, [left] turn Windows features on or off, multimedia features, set the Windows Media Player box, Yes, OK, restart the PC.

  • Make Windows Media Player 64 default

I have a laptop windows 7 that is running on a 64-bit processor, but I realized that the media player in the taskbar is the 32-bit one. I tried to change to the 64 bit one series. So, I changed the destination of the shortcut to open the 64-bit player. However, this causes a new upcoming media player icon and when I right click on, none of the normal shortcuts such as, recently played songs, recent songs, or tasks, rises. Anyway is to make the default 64-bit version?

    Thank you

    Hi thepramillionaire,

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

    Back up the registry
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/back-up-the-registry

    (1) in the elevated command prompt, type unregmp2 /SwapTo:64 and press ENTER.
If you are prompted, click on continue in the UAC prompt.
    (2) the open registry editor:
Go to start and type regedit.exe, and then press ENTER.
    3) go to this site:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Paths\wmplayer.exe
    (4) in the right pane, click with the right button on (default) and click on change. By default, it is on the WMP 32.
    (5) type %ProgramFiles%\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe.
    6) click OK to apply.
    (7) in the right pane, click with the right button on the path and click on modify.
    (8) a) type %ProgramFiles%\Windows Media Player.
    9) click OK to apply.
    (10) close the registry editor.

Check if this affects Windows Media Player 64-bit as the default value.

    Kind regards

    Hello

    Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community!

You have reached the right forum. Try to solve this problem.

If I understand correctly, you have problems with Windows Media Player.

Please answer these questions to better understand the issue:

    1. what operating system is installed on the computer?

    2. What is the full error message?

3 is it so long as you are on Windows Media player?

It could be that the settings are incorrect on Windows Media player.

Run the troubleshooter of settings and see if that helps:
