  Whenever I have to copy and paste from the web or Word it removes hyperlinks.  And when I try to do in 'Place' ing a Word document in my InDesign project that it retains formatting with it, the rectangles around the text.

  Copy-paste might not include the shaped. A regular import using square is the best way.

  The rectangles around the hyperlinks are just to indicate that they are links - they do not print, but they appear in your PDF.

  You can delete them by double clicking on the hyperlink in the hyperlinks Panel and select "Rectangle Invisible" as the type.

  In general, Word formatting of hyperlinks - blue text, underline - with a character Style. If you want to remove or change the formatting, all you have to do is to change the character style. My experience, however, is that you need to check all the hyperlinks because no reason apparent, sometimes they appear in the document without the character style.

  Thanks for the reply. The problem went away on its own. I have concluded that my Dell computer is haunted. He does the things all on its own, usually things... s ft me off. If it is upward again once I'll let you know and we can have a vigil of prayer for him just before my taking a hammer to it.

  I do not understand why the Photos shows the name of the file twice.   These fields are not labelled, but I was under the impression that the top line was the Description, the second line is the name of the file, and the third line is the Date.   Because only the first line is displayed under thumbnails, I try to have as much descriptive information appear in this area (as in the past, we could do with iPhoto or Aperture).

  In other words, when I run the script I hold my keywords to replace everything in the top line completely, eliminating the name of the file. Is there something wrong with this approach?  I would still have the name of the file to the second line, right?

  Remove the file name of the title field, and then run the script. You will have the chance

  It seems that I had an outer glow effect turned on so that the 'text' (and not the object) and causing the text to be printed with a white background. Still don't understand why this would happen, but at least we have thought of it.

• Reoading updated the text (from web) file

  I have a project that captures the text from a text file I have on my server. The code I use is at the bottom of this post...
  
  I have an empty cast member called "ClientListImport" and the script works great! - but the problem I have is when I update the text on the server (via a PHP script), the project manager does not update unless I left the projector and the re-launch. I tried to re - run the importFileInto script in the projector, but it won't pull in the new values.
  
  It's almost as if the text file is cached, or re - run the command is simply ignored for some reason any. How can I get Director to import the text updated on my server? I have to purge the first original text file? The code can be run one time?

  I am placing a MS word doc text in my master pages in InDesign and it imports only the part of the text, the first 8 pages and after a lot of blank pages, I see the little red as well as in the box in the lower right corner of the text box, but no matter how many times I continue the flow to the next column the rest of the text will not appear. The MS doc is in the fonts, I did not, but I thought I could do a search and replace once the text flows in because there are a lot of bold and italic, put in shape that I don't want to lose by copying and pasting from Word into InDesign.   I often see complete Word of the nonbreaking spaces files, too. It is disabling the break a too large number of nonbreaking space online to send the rest of the doc in excess. It is not rare AT ALL when you crop in ID, especially if the column width is different. A picture of great line that would too.

  In addition to reviewing the file in Word, you can place the cursor to the last point see you text in ID and open the story editor to see what is beyond. If it's not obvious (turn on nonprinting characters that you can see the nonbreaking spaces), choose the first two paragraphs in excess and leave the Dungeon options (can be on all lines solidarity or solidarity than hass all the lines together and have too many lines to fit to a page) or No Break is applied to the first line in excess. Check hyphenation, as well.

  For each row, use the count property of cells. Since there a number of subject lines is the number of columns.

• Import or 'PLACING' text from MS WORD to In Design CS4

  When I do a text box in InDesign and choose LOCATION and then click format MS WORD and place it, it goes to the right like in magic.  Unfortunately however,. each brand of qutation, the comma, and etc. appears as a small square box.  How can I fix it?

  Second, when I do a text box and the text inside square, it does not fill the box.  It will indent the entire column about a 1/4 of an inch to the right of the box real text block.  I can go to the top of the page and he walks back and that he fills the box.  But, I'm figuring there is a way to change the default withdrawal and remove it completely.

  What fonts do you use? Small boxes means that there's no punctuation glyphs in this font. I'd be inclined to preserve the formatting to start Word and to allow quotes from printers.

  The dash can somehow become part of an object style. Window > object Styles opens the Panel. You should see the text of basic block and base graphic block. Are there others? Is the little "T" icon beside the standard text block? If you right-click on the name of syle, and choose the editing command, you see a right indent listed, or a paragraph except standard paragraph style?

  Hotmail and other e-mail clients may change the behavior of the Enter key to give two lines instead of one.  If you use SHIFT-ENTER in Word, then he may interpret as a single line.

  Is it possible to determine if the text in a textframe is in a table, even if this table has been threaded through to multiple text frames? I can check the number of tables for the text block when the table starts to see if there is a table and then work from there for this image. However, the following text blocks have a tables.length of 0. Selected individual within the table, when characters, have a parent cell, but in my case, I need to be able to check the first character of the frame and move forward according to whether this cell is in a table. For reasons that are not clear to me, this character is never the child of the cell. And, if I pull the following characters from the (say) characters collection, I only get the characters that appear after the table (line source or legend). Obviously, I'm missing something about how the table is referenced in the DOM, but I can't understand what it is.

  What I want:

  -A textFrame, determine if it begins with a table (so check first character textFrame for "table-ness")

  What I mean

  -The table itself seems invisible to the textFrame object.

  I hope that this issue is sufficiently clear. I'm having a little bit of hurt to express the problem. Thank you!

  The short answer is, you're out of luck.

  The longer answer is, there is almost no way of knowing what page one

  character of a table is enabled, if this table can extend over several

  pages.

  The same goes for notes that spans 2 or more pages. There are

  virtually no way to know what the page any character in the

  reference is on in this case.

  I say no way because I think remember me that some thing involving anchored

  objects, through which you insert an object anchored after a given character,

  then release it and then check what page he falls toward the top on.

  How a table is like this:

  A table lives inside a single character (which does not mean that the)

  parent of a table is a character - go figure!). You can get your hands on the

  PointInsertion before this character with myTable.storyOffset. I don't care

  How long the table is 1000 pages or more - he still lives inside

  So when a table spans several blocks of text, then, indeed, you will

• How to extract the text from corrupted pages file

  Really appreciate if someone of you knows a way to extract text from a page files of 9 MB that contains text and images and which does not:

  Error message: file format not valid.

  Change the type of file and opening in various programs (Word, Acrobat, Google doc converter) but nothing I've tried will open it.

  I have a backup at home, but am away for several weeks and done a lot of work on this file since the last backup.

  If it is in fact a v5 Pages document, and it will not open in preview, or open in v5 Pages while holding the SHIFT key, then you're done. The inner content in Pages v5 is in a format that is illegible, indecipherable, scrambled anything able to read except Pages v5.

  If it's a v5.5.2 Pages or a later version of the document, then it is by default in a single file format (file zip compressed/renamed), and no version of Pages thru v5.2.2 on Mavericks v5 was designed to play a single file format documents that are not original Pages ' 09. If it is a document Pages from Yosemite or El Capitan, you will need the v5.5.3 Pages or later to change the type of file to the package format - which can be read by v5 + Pages on the Mavericks.

  If it is a Pages ' 09 document, there is a good possibility that your attempt to open/edit/etc this document with all of the people mentioned applications has damaged the document permanently. Try the preview or the free LibreOffice (v5 or later) which can open documents file format only (not the package files) of Pages ' 09 very simple, sometimes with pictures. No warranty if.
