planning the installation of 240 GB SSD

I install windows 7 64 bit on SSD. where can I find drivers for network and etc for my in 3847 Inspiron?

second question: what software do I need, so I can clone it or transfer my windows 8.1 in my new 250 GB of SSD drive size. ?

Hi Petersj,

Please click the link for the support above. Then enter your model and operating system and you will find all the drivers for your system.

There are many, many articles everywhere on the internet on how to clone a HARD drive 8.1 Windows for one SSD, like this. However, if you plan to dual-boot Windows 8.1 and Windows 7, you need to perform a search on the internet for dual-boot. Cloning will not work.

Compaq Presario CQ71, (model CQ71-317EA) portable system, Windows 7 family 64 - bit edition

Hi, I tried to upgrade the original 320 GB HDD to a 256 GB SSD.

After that replacement of the naked NTFS hard drive to SSD format, I tried to do a "factory restore" using the DVD, I created some time ago about recovery. The DVD started and recovery program ran very well, first menus for recovery/system control etc. The problem is that the program would not be allowed a resumption of the plant as the HDD was little different/more than the installed hard drive to factory.

This is the point I'm stuck at, I reassembled the original hard drive while I find a solution.

Is it possible to find a workaround to avoid having to order a new disc of Windows 7? Any help and advice in terms of simple-ish would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello:

If you can still read all 25 characters of the product key of W7 on the bottom of your laptop, you can make your own plain W7 x 64 Home Premium installation media and use the product key to activate the installation.

Download the applicable version of the W7 from the link below.  Use the SP1 media files regenerate.

Then use this tool to transfer the ISO file downloaded on a key USB 4 GB or DVD.  The tool will make the DVD or drive bootable flash as well.

The best you can do is to contact Samsung and request recovery media to restore your system to its factory default state.

Call Samsung to get a recovery disc - to find a phone number for your location:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/GP/oemphone/

Thank you Andre, very appreciated, unfortunately Samsung and their Tech Support here in the UNITED Arab Emirates was not as useful.

I managed to keep the button restore during the 5 sec boot process that initiated the request 5 restore Samsung which was then able to take the original installation of the hidden Partition image.

    Fortunately the issue is resolved.

  • Problem with the installation of 64-bit on the new SSD

    Hello

I just bought a new SSD drive, on which I would like to install a new system 64-bit "clean". I've used up to this 32-bit system, but I finally realized that 64-bit is better for today's software.

There is a problem however, because the installation diskettes (and permits) I are:
    -Windows 7 32-bit OEM
    and
    -Upgrade Windows 8 32/64 - bit

Unfortunately, I found information that it is impossible to upgrade Windows 7 32-bit to 64-bit Windows 8 on the technical support Web site.

Is it possible for me to get the 64-bit Windows 7 installation files, even if I have a 32-bit version?
Can I directly install the updated 64-bit of Windows 8 disk system? How activation works in this case?

Is there another way, I could solve this problem? :(

    I would appreciate your help.

    Thank you!

    Hello Auunie,

  • Photoshop CS6 independent: impossible to choose the installation directory (El Capitan w House separate folder on SSD)

I had to do a fresh install of El Capitan and am reinstalling all software (sigh).

My folder is located in a separate DSS (and not on the boot drive). I want to have all my applications in the folder of the startup disk, not in the folder/applications in my home folder.

When I run Photoshop CS6 setup the 'Location' field is set on / applications of the startup disk.

BUT what's really weird is that when I press on install, the software however ends in the folder/Applications my HOME of RECORD page.

What the hell is happening here? I tried three times, thinking at first I just took the wrong folder/applications, but now I see it, it's as if the record of / applications starting is wired into the installer somehow.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions

    Hi Richard,

In the case of a Mac machine the default location for all applications is Applications folder, if case you want to change this location, you will need to contact the Apple support, as they can help you change the default location.

To check and confirm whether or not it is installed on your boot drive, you can view the Application Support folder of your system library and if you see the folder of Photoshop in there it means that it is installed on your startup disk.

Location: right-click on the icon in the Finder and select the option to ' Go-To ' records. You will get a text box, type in the command below and then press the 'return ':

/ Library (It will open file System Library)

Then go to The Application Support > Adobe

Let us know if that helps.

  • How can I get the 'free space' in my SSD back?

I tried to install windows via boot camp on my macbook air 2013 Wizard but I got an error during partitioning and restarting the laptop now I'm stuck with my Macintosh HD impossible to return to full capacity. So I tried to search the net to find answers, but I could not find. I have about 55 GB of free space, how could I get it back? I'm also on El Capitan. My ssd is 250 GB and macintosh that HD used to identify all 250 now it is stuck at 199 - ish. Thank you!

Have you tried to use Boot Camp Assistant to delete the partition that it created? If you do not, then you should give it a try. If instead you tried to solve it using disk utility, then you have garbaged s disk RDB. Either you can take a long time to find out how to solve this problem using the Terminal or you can clone your OS X volume to another disk using disk utility or Carbon Copy Cloner, boot from the clone, erase your internal drive, the clone of restoration on the internal drive, then restart your computer from the internal drive.

Step 1: Fix the hard disk and permissions

Boot from an OS X install disc

    1. Insert the OS X installation disc into the optical drive.

    2 restart the computer.

    3. immediately after the ring, press and hold the C"" key.

4 release the button when the spinning gear under the Apple grey dark

    logo appears.

    5. wait for the installer to finish loading.

    Boot from a recovery HD:

    1. reboot the computer.

    2. immediately after the ring, press and hold the

'ORDER' and the set of keys 'R '.

    3. release the keys when appears the utilities Menu.

After the installer loads, choose your language and click on the button continue. When the menu bar appears, select disk utility from the menu of the Installer (the menu utilities for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard).

For Lion or later select disk utility in the main Menu of public services.

After disk utility loads select your entry from hard drive (to mfgr. ID and Player size) of the list on the left.  In the disk utility status area, you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is faulty or has failed. (State SMART is not reported on external drives Firewire or USB). If the drive is "verified", then select your OS X volume in the list on the left (subentries under the entry for the road), click the first aid tab, then click the repair disk button. If THE reports any errors that have been corrected, and then run repair disk again until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, click repair permissions. Wait until the operation is complete, then exit FROM and return to the installer.

If Disk utility reports errors, that it can not solve, then Disk Warrior or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you do not have one of them or none of them can fix the disc, then you will need to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the OS X.

Second stage: Remove the old drive and install the new drive.  Place of the old drive in an external USB enclosure.  You can buy one at OWC , which is also a good supplier for the readers.

Step 3: boot from the external drive.  Restart the computer and after the buzzer, press on and hold down the OPTION key until the Boot Manager appears.  Select the icon of the HD to the external hard drive recovery, and then click the arrow pointing down.

Fourth step: new preparation of the hard drive

    1. open utility disk in the utility Main Menu, then click on the continue button.

    2. the disk utility charges and then select your new hard drive (it's the entry with the)

MFGR. ID and size) from the list on the left. Note the SMART status of

the reader in the status area of THE.  If it says not "verified" and then the player

is failing or has failed and will need replacement.  Otherwise, click on the

Tab in the main window of the disk utility partition .

    3. in the title of the Volume entitled plan defined the number of partitions from

the drop to one. Set the type of Mac OS Extended format

(Journaled). Click the Options button, set the partition scheme

GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition/apply button and

Wait until the process is completed.

    4. Select the volume you just created (it's the auxiliary input under the)

entry by car) from the list on the left. Click on the Erase tab in THE MAIN

    window.

    5. set the type of format Mac OS extended (journaled). Click on the

The button options , check the box for zero data and click OK to

return to the window to erase it.

    6. click on the delete button. The formatting process can take up to several

hours depending on the size of the disk.

Fifth step: clone the old disk to the new disk

    1. Select the destination volume in the list on the left.

    2. click on the tab restore in the main window of THE.

    3. check the box labeled destination Erase.

    4. Select the destination volume in the left list and drag it to the

    Destination entry field.

    5. Select the volume of the source of the list on the left and drag it to the

    Input source field.

    7. check you correctly, then click on the restore button.

Destination means the new internal drive. Source means the old external drive.

Step 6: open preferences Startup disk and select the new internal volume.  Click restart.  You should boot from the new drive.  Eject the disk and disconnect it from the computer.

  • Z820 - BIOS updated to v2.55 - cannot start or install the installation of Windows 7 (UEFI) disc

    Hello

I have serious problems with the boot and install Windows 7 on my Z820.

My problems started with Windows Boot Manager, throwing an error in the boot, saying that "the Windows Boot Configuration data file is missing required information". In the end, I decided to do a full clean reinstall of WIndows. However, I was unable to get Windows 7 installed. I was able to boot the disc at retail of Windows 7 64-bit UEFI mode, but he had problems with the installation. Each attempt ended with an error stating that 'Windows could not update the configuration to start the computer. Installation cannot continue. ».

It was the BIOS v2.08. Intel 520 (240 GB) SSD as boot drive and 2 TB SATA HARD drive as data disc on the ports of controller LSI 2308 0 and 1 respectively. 2 DVD players on Intel AHCI ports.

I decided to take a different path.

I removed my data HDD and a DVD of the Z820 player. I put my SSD (which will become the startup disk) and a DVD player on both ports to AHCI.

I've updated the Z820 BIOS with the latest version (v2.55, February 13, 2013), did a reset CMOS (machined cable disconnected) and reset the BIOS to factory default settings. Then, I put 'OptionROM mass storage' mode EFI and the storage on AHCI mode.

Now, when I put in retail Windows 7 SP1 64-bit installation DVD and select the drive of DVD (UEFI) to start, I get just a flashing dash. I noticed also that some fans begin immediately turn faster.

    To summarize:

I am unable to boot Windows 7 SP1 64 bit DVD installation detail at all and therefore impossible to install Windows 7.

Configuration of the system (as in the last installation attempt):

    -Dual Xeon E5-2680

    -32 GB OF RAM DDR3-1600 PC3-12800

-240 GB SSD IDE AHCI Intel oucederomsurlesecondport 520

    DVD player - Harbour AHCI

    -NVIDIA Quadro 4000

-BIOS v2.55 (OptionROM in EFI, Secure Boot disabled mode mass storage)

    I'm getting desperate... ;-)

Should I try reseating the RAM modules? Remove some RAM? Connect my monitor differently (currently DVI to VGA)? Replace the graphics card?

    Kind regards

    Dries

In the safety device is the LSI controller set to device available and under device options is Donwload ROM option enabled.

If they are both correct so I would say that your MB doesn't have, I got 3 failure already on my 6 systems! Not been more reliable work stations to this day.

For intergatting search device & patches for WinToolKit, I can share my images because they contain information about the company & registered software.

  • Windows 7 recovery media is unable to complete the installation

I have had a total hard drive on my HP Pavilion DV6-3108EA failure and got the relevant HP recovery media and install a spare drive compatible plug - in this case, it's a Samsung SSD 850 EVO, 500 GB solid state of direct replacement for the deceased Samsung 500 GB disk drive. Drive diagnostic confirms that the replacement drive is fully functional without error.

The recovery kit comes with 3 DVDs. tightening of the bolts 1 and 2 are the Windows 7 recovery media and #3 is the recovery of applications and drivers. 1 recovery attempt has done OK, loaded all three DVD but eventually stuck at a screen "loading devices (40%). ", which would not go further even after a night's sleep. Therefore, power off, and...

Attempt 2 is better. I jumped 3 DVD and the construction seems to be almost complete but finally stopped with hearwarming message that "Windows cannot complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer restart the installation"frustrating, I think you'll agree.

Out of curiosity I tried ctrl-alt-del what task manager open nicely and from there I was able to do many things including use setup to reconnect to my wireless router, enter the number of license Win 7 OK and activate windows, get the right keyboard configuration and launch a copy of IE8 with which I am still typing this message.

It seems so I have a PC almost fully functional except that Windows could not complete the installation and if I click the OK button in the offending dialog box, it restarts and returns to the same dialog box. Very frustrating. Oh and there is no button start / menu start so clearly there are always things to be completed.

The recovery media is "System Recovery Kit for portable Pavilion or Presario" (COL35379_631054_031) for which I paid £35,12 and expect to deliver the goods. But it doesn't work. Also remarkable is that the recovery media did not build a D: partition of recovery disk, contrary to what he says. Can anyone help?

It's frustrating. Fortunately, I can also access this forum and this email addressfrom my Android Tablet and check there return from time to time. Really appreciate your ideas and help here.

Either by the way, on a different thread, I read the assertion that HP requires to change a chip on the motherboard when you change a drive. This disc is loaded with tools and Windows software and saving the configuration changes as my wireless network details I don't buy that one. Thanks for reading this far.

Hoping for wise leaders to help me move forward.

    With regard to Al

So close and yet so far.

But I would like to clear one thing up to HP support were excellent - good focus on my ideas of the problem and a commitment to see it through.  No worries about to buy me the hot spare elsewhere.  Problem still not solved, but I'm more forward with other ideas to pursue.  I was told to reset the BIOS date to 2012 (don't know what difference that would make but there) and the construction has progressed much further this time.

More anon, but had to post a message praising the support that I received today.

    Result!

Fixing the date of the BIOS to 2012 has allowed the recovery to go much further, but still have up to a point where he had failed.  So, why?

Silly me!  Should have read the instructions on the screen and their follow-up religiously.  Eventually, the restore process (which takes a lot of time) begins to re - install applications and other things.  The message on the screen at the beginning of this process very clearly said that it will automatically reboot several times.  However, being a little too eager to get there, I finally saw a message that said that such and such an application requires a restart to complete the installation and stupidly I clicked the button restart now.  Who killed for the rest of the installation.  Finally I have sussed out - and kept following reconstruction my itchy fingers away from the mouse to the manuscript to rebuild whole had been terminated, making his own restarts suff and hey hop... a PC entirely restored with a nice new Samsung SSD drive.

As an aside, if you plan to replace your hard drive (defective or not) with a Samsung SSD tested loading the Wizard software that comes with it to optimize the OS to SSD hardware.  It optimizes the things like the prefetcher and Super-fetch to the machine and the drive to work more effectively together - very impressive.

Kudos to HP who were great support.  I know that some people say thay have bad experiences.  Mine here in the United Kingdom was outstanding.  The guy listened, asked good questions, gave good advice and has been a pleasure to work with - what would you like... oh yes, his advice worked!

Thanks to HP real home to my little crisis.

A lot of work to do now to recover data, backups (yes I) and re - install a large number of tools that I use, but all disks are there and it's just a matter of time now.

    All the best

    Al

I tried to install 10 Windows on my MacBook pro 13 ' 2012 with SSD and HDD 10.11.5 running. I followed the procedure step by step with the Bootcamp Assistant for two hard drive. I have my USB Windows 10 install prepared, latest updates of Bootcamp and puppy 35 GB disk. I did this several times and can not get pass the Bootcamp with Windows partition install formatting. Whenever I click Next after format, he says "we couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information see the installation log files".

it say something about MBR and Windows needs EFI.

I had the same problem, you click on the partition where windows should be installed? Seemed that Windows did not know where to put them.
