Player D says full

Drive D is red, upward did not finish.  How can I clean drive D?  Can I set back ups/set points to remove the oldest so this never happens again?

The way you wrote, this indicates that your drive D: is your recovery drive.
If you click Start > computer and see something like mine in screenshot, it is a recovery disk.

I have bad news for you... You are NOT supposed to make backup files in drive D, and you should put something in it. You are supposed to leave him alone.
Recovery drive has an image of the system as it came from the factory. It is used to restore your computer when it crashes.
I don't have a full knowledge of how to correct the situation, as in how to remove files that are not supposed to be there.
You will need expert help.
Meanwhile, please buy an external hard drive and use it to make the backup of files. Ext. drives today are pretty inexpensive. It can be done for under $100 Canadian. If you are in the United States, it might be even cheaper

  • My Media Player 11 says I need a "codec".

I have Vista, and my Media Player 11 won't play CD because he says that I don't have the required "codec" installed. However, I can't find one who will install. I have already installed a patch/file that is supposed to fix the file installation problems, but this has not solved the problem. I was at this for hours. Codecs: Frequently asked questions
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/codecs-frequently-asked-questions

All you need is good Codec - get these if 32-bit.

-Free - CCCP also get free tool of insurgents

    FFDSHOW - free
    http://sourceforge.NET/projects/ffdshow/

VLC needs, of no use so usually Codec as a backup when asked to support associations of files just say no.

    VLC - free
    http://www.videolan.org/VLC/

If 64 bits and you need codec.

Read this 1st and go that route, or use the one below. (Vista or Windows 7)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

If 64-bit - can run WMP in 32 or 64 bit mode.

Or try these: download - SAVE - go to the place where your put them RIGHT CLICK – RUN AS ADMIN.

For 32-bit use these - OR the 32 bit ones listed above which I prefer.

K - Lite Codec Pack 8.0.8 (or newer)
    http://www.codecguide.com/

    Use them for 64-bit:

    K - Lite Codec Pack 5.5.0 (64-bit) (or newer)
    http://www.codecguide.com/

    -------------------------------------------------------------

You know that you use WMP 32 or 64

Change, modify or value 64-bit Windows Media Player 11 (WMP11) in Windows Vista x 64 as default (or WMP12 - Windows7)

    Hi doodle75,

You try to add data to a multisession CD - R or CD - RW in Windows Media Player 11?

If you attempt this task, this problem occurs because Windows Media Player 11 does not support multisession recording. You receive this message if the CD you are trying to record already contains data.

To resolve this problem, save the data to a new CD - R or CD - RW.

  • When I place a disc in my CD - DVD player, it says that it cannot read the media.

I use a Windows 7 computer and everytime I put a DVD in the drive, it says that it cannot read the disk media. I tried to uninstall and reinstall it, I also tried the Player update. The computer realizes that the drive is in the computer, but it will not play any DVD or CD. Anyone know how I can get running without having to disassemble the computer?

Clean the disc with a DVD cleaning disc, available in most stores and retail businesses.  If this fails so that the reader has probably not and must be replaced.
