Portege 4000: Can't find Wlan access points

Device will display a Manager Toshiba Mini PCI card wireless current LAN and I have the latest driver for it.

I have a new installation of XP SP2.

I am able to search for wireless networks, but the search always comes back with nothing even when there are several access points nearby... any ideas?

Thank you

Michael

really want to go out and buy a USB wifi dongle... I got the portege of ebay cuz it has been built in :(

Hello

Please note that your notebook is WLAN standard card B and if your router is set to 54G only it's possible this laptop is not able to see WLAN network. I recommend you to check the settings of the WLAN router.

  • Portege M300 - can't find WLan after installing Win XP

    Hello

I have formatted my system by installing the Windows XP from Toshiba recovery disc.
I installed the service pack 2 of windows XP for wireless setup. But I am not able to see under network connections wireless adapter.

I checked it in computer devices mgmt/Manager / network adapters.
I couldn't find the adapter wireless at all.

Do I need to install all the drivers / software adapter?

    Please let me know.

    Thank you
    Simo

    Hello

If the WLan driver has not been installed then the WLan card should still typically appear in the device as an unknown device manager

You can see an unknown device?
    Not?

Well, for me, it means that the Wlan card is not inserted or malfunction

In your case, I would setup a material like Everest Home Edition diagnostic tool to determine if a wireless network card is there.

  • Unable to find the access point or use any device to all wireless to connect to my BEFSR41 v4.0

Hi well the problem seems to be that whenever I try to use any type of device and try to connect using a wireless connection to my router, I can't find an access point or no signal at all of it, but when you use a wired connection, it works perfectly. For example, I'm trying to connect my Wii to the internet via a wireless connection, but I can't find any access point so that it can connect to. So I went to my router configuration and I didn't know what to do to allow a shown access point or wireless to all activity. Theres no wireless tab or whatever it is to install, so I didn't allow remote administration, but still I could not find an access point. I don't know if im just made bad or I need an update of the firmware (mine is currently 1.04.02) or what else. If the help would be nice

BEFSR41 isn't a wireless router... It is wired.

  • Tecra 9100 - unable to connect to the WLan access point

    Hello

I have a Tecra T9100 with miniPCI WLan. I reinstalled XP Pro and all the drivers (downloaded from the Toshiba site) and I've always had a problem with Wifi:

I can see all access point (in the windows control panel), but when I click on connect, I received a message that the access point is no more...
He didn't ask me for the security settings?

    does anyone have an idea?

    Much thanks

    Leclere

    Hello

To my knowledge the Tecra 9100 was equipped with the wireless LAN standard: 802. 11B mini card PCI ORiNOCO.

You need to check if the WiFi signal is strong enough for a transmission correctly
I think that the signal of WLan access points is not strong enough because of the distance.

  • Satellite L20-101: can't see my WLan access point

    Hello world

I have a L20-101. It worked well until we change our AP with 802n Apple AP again. I can see any other network, but I can't see mine.
    Any idea?

    Thank you

    Hello

Yes, I have an idea ;) How about you change the WLan card?
Seems that the new access point is not compatible with the wireless network for laptop card.
Maybe the minPCI wireless network card does not support the standard wireless access point.

    What do you think?

  • Satellite M70: I can't connect to the WLan access point

I have several wireless laptops, all work fine - except my M70.
I use Intel Proset, and he sees the access point, but says "unable to connect" when I try.
The signal is high (2 meters distance).

I tried with WEP, WPA and without security. I am absolutely convinced that I entered the right keys.
The access point is a Belkin Pre - N-, but I tried with a point of access 3Com, with the same problem - my Ipaq, my other PC, and all guests can connect,- but not my Toshiba!
The wireless card is the standard Intel, with the latest driver from October 2006 intalled.

    Getting desperate...

    Hello

If you get a signal strong, so I guess that the laptop is already connected to the access point. Or am I wrong?
On my laptop, the computer WLan small icon appears only if I connected to the Wlan and then I can see the State of the signal.

However, you suggested to use the Intel Proset utility to configure the WiFi network but on the clean Windows configuration. Have you tested it?

This question seems very strange to me.
Sometimes it of not possible to connect the WiFi network because of poor compatibility between the router and wireless network card.
My router supports Wlan AB mode and my second card for computer laptop support BG.
That's why I m not able to connect to the Wlan. Maybe it s also your case.

On my router, I can also put the MAC address filtering. You should check this option on your router.
But generally it is not easy to say why it happens. You know you should check every single option and if it s not possible so I guess that it s a compatibility issue.

    Wireless switch is turned on.

Any help much appreciated - I read thought a lot of forums and can't find a solution.

I'm tearing my hair from day x mas :-(

    Hello!

Download you and install a WLAN driver? It s not enough to install the LAN driver, it is only for the cable network.

And what do you mean exactly when say you the WLAN don't work? Can connect to a router?

If you have problems, disable the security settings as hidden SSID, MAC address filtering,
In addition, you should check if the wireless network adapter and the router using the same settings.

-Install the SST to enable inline Portal-Content editing.

-Add cookie-path to your portal in case being a portal application framework Application. With this he will not lose the current session.
