Satellite L20-101: can't see my WLan access point

Hello world

I have a L20-101. It worked well until we change our AP with 802n Apple AP again. I can see any other network, but I can't see mine.
Any idea?

Thank you

Hello

Yes, I have an idea ;) How about you change the WLan card?
Seems that the new access point is not compatible with the wireless network for laptop card.
Maybe the minPCI wireless network card does not support the standard wireless access point.

What do you think?

  • Satellite L20-101: I think as 667 Mhz module runs only with 266 Mhz

    Hello

    I bought 2 x 1024Mo DDR2-RAM for my L20-101.
First I tried 533 MHz, but the laptop does not work with them, so I bought the
    Version of 667 MHz.
CPU - Z says that the FSB:DRAM - ratio is 1:2 If the two are in fact run with just 266 MHz.

I've updated the BIOS with the latest version of the Toshiba-home page, but nothing has changed.

    So finally, my questions:
1 perhaps CPU - Z is false (I don't think so...), are there any other good programms to check the parameters of memory?

    2. If the values in the program are correct: where can I change the value of the report? Is it possible to see more than a few settings in the BIOS or is it a rider?

    Thanks for your help

    Hello

First of all it is important to mention that the Satellite L20-101 supports a FSB of 533 MHz.
    So the DDR2 400/533 256 MB (PA3389U - 1 M 25) and DDR2 400/533 memory modules 512 MB (PA3412U - 1 M 51) should work and are 100% compatible!

If you use the module of 667 Mhz, it runs only at 533 Mhz due to the limitation of the front side bus.

In addition, I think you have misunderstood something.
Here are the modules DD2 and so the CPU - Z recognizes the speed of the modules as 266 MHz (2 x 266 = 532 Mhz)
If everything seems to be ok!

PS; You can also use the other tool called Everest home edition. It s a freeware and very useful to run a diagnosis system and equipment

  • Satellite L20 - 101 - Sound driver causes blue screen

    1. my laptop is a Satellite L20-101. It worked fine until yesterday when I reinstalled the system (from recovery cd) after 3 years. I have updated the bios to version 1.70 (drawn from the toshiba site). Devices audio conexant could not be recognized, and if I run the installation of the latest audio drivers (sound-20080604145033), it fixes the problem, but when you restart the system and login as administrator I get a blue screen. Any help pls?

    2. given that the LAN card is working, there is a message for the installation of a driver for a network device!

    Thanks in advance
    Maxco

    Hi maxco,.

About its pilot I n don't know why you're getting a blue screen with the latest version, but I advise to use the preinstalled version of Toshiba recovery disc. So try a point-to-point previous system restore.

Driver LAN and Toshiba Power Saver, you can download from the official site. Relocation of these tools should work!

  • Satellite L20-101 - very low sound

    Hello

I have a Toshiba laptop Satellite L20-101, Windows XP (Service Pack 3). Yesterday, the sound of my laptop started to play very very low.

Drivers audio (conexant AC-link audio) seems to work fine, and I'm all set to maximum volume.
It was sudden. One moment he was working well, and the next time I start it the sound was strangely low.

I don't know if it's a hardware problem, or if she could we have resolved to restore the entire system with the recovery CD (I prefer not to do so).

    Any ideas? Any help?

    Thank you

    Hello

I think you should check the sound volume using the headphones.
If the headphones work correctly the problem might be related to internal speakers.

But to be honest it is really not easy to say what causes this problem as I said can be faulty speaker but you should also check all possible settings and perhaps a new OS reinstall would also be a good idea.

It would be useful to know if the sound issue would persist using the laptop with clean, factory setting.

  • Satellite L20-101: Question on battery & BIOS password

    Dear Sir or Madam:

I have a Toshiba laptop satellite L20-101, so can u please answer my questions below.

Is it better for the battery life to always stay connected to an electrical outlet when possible, or charge the battery and then use it until it needs to be recharged again? I mean what is best for the life of the battery, and I need to know if stay connected to AC power affects the battery life.

How can I set a password for the laptop not windows? Because when I enter BIOS setup and set a password for user and supervisor. He just ask me about this password when I try to login to Setup again, but it is still continuous to the windows boot without asking me about a password.

    What should I do?

    Kind regards

    Hello

The fact is that you can charge/discharge the battery about 500 times.
After this period, the battery will lose performance.
More recent laptops and batteries use the latest technology of load.
But I recommend to remove the battery, if you work on the DC for a long time.
In this case, you can extend the life of the battery and the performance

If you want to set the BIOS password and it should appear at the beginning, you must activate the password at startup option in the BIOS.

  • Satellite L20-101: Question about memory PC2-4300 and PC2-4200 of mixture

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite L20-101. He took 512 MB RAM (PC2-4300). Today, I added another module of RAM but this new module is PC2-4200. Is there something wrong with that? The two modules are DDR2 and 533 MHz and 512 MB.

    Hi Pawel,

In principle, there is no problem with the mixture of slightly different types of RAM modules, but normally the total RAM will run at the speed of the slowest module. When your notebook detects the right amount of RAM from two sticks then it don't will don't... no problem.

  • Tecra 9100 - unable to connect to the WLan access point

    Hello

I have a Tecra T9100 with miniPCI WLan. I reinstalled XP Pro and all the drivers (downloaded from the Toshiba site) and I've always had a problem with Wifi:

I can see all access point (in the windows control panel), but when I click on connect, I received a message that the access point is no more...
He didn't ask me for the security settings?

    does anyone have an idea?

    Much thanks

    Leclere

    Hello

To my knowledge the Tecra 9100 was equipped with the wireless LAN standard: 802. 11B mini card PCI ORiNOCO.

You need to check if the WiFi signal is strong enough for a transmission correctly
I think that the signal of WLan access points is not strong enough because of the distance.

  • Satellite P200-14O: can't see my own WLAN

    Hi all

Today, I had a problem with my WiFi Atheros card. I have toshiba Satelite P200-14O. The problem is very stupid and extremely boring.

I can see all the net wireless around me, but my net oun I don't see. I can connect to all other networks, but I can't connect to my own.

I ask a friend to come to my hom with her laptop and it was no problem to see my SSID and connect. Very stupid, but I'm extremely nervous. I check all the settings to my access point and everything seems ok. If I use my cell phone I can see and can connect to the network.

I don't really know what to do

    Help, please!
    Ivan

May I ask what Wlan standard using your router?

    Just for example.
If your laptop uses only 802.11 G standard and the router would receive only Wlan 802.11 B signals should not be able to see your SSID then you should not be able to connect to the WLan router

  • Satellite L20-173: can I put the CPU?

Can I upgrade the cpu on my satellite L20-173 in order to play games or I can improve performance

    Hello

No, it is not possible to upgrade the processor. It is also not possible to update the graphics card. Only you can improve memory and HARD drive.
See the other topics in this forum, why it is not possible to upgrade the processor and graphics card.

  • Satellite 2450-101: can I run recovery external HARD drive or USB key using

    Hello.

I have a Satellite 2450-101, on which the DVD player seems to have failed (could be engine, laser; uncertain).

I want to perform a full restore of the product, using both disks that came with the computer.
Defective hard drives before, I copied the data on these disks to an external hard drive and a usb flash drive.

Is it possible for me to run the recovery of the proceeds of one of these media (or indeed any source, other than the internal DVD player)?

Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated. See you soon.

    > Defective hard drives before, I copied the data on these disks to an external hard drive and a usb flash drive.
    > Is it possible for me to run the recovery of the proceeds of one of these media (or indeed any source, other than the internal DVD player)?
Hmmm I doubt that this can be possible because it is not possible to boot from a USB flash or external HARD disk drive.

What you could do is to copy the folder the original Microsoft CD i386 on the HARD drive and then you can run setup.exe from this folder.
It would begin installing the XP installation program.

But Toshiba Recovery disk contains only image files and there is no i386 folder and therefore, you need the CD of XP Ms.

  • Satellite L20 - 101-, the fan won't turn on when starting.

    Hello!

I found that the fan on my L20 lights during startup (for the first few seconds). All started about 3 weeks ago. Sometimes it can be sometimes not. Than you think. Can be a serious problem? Perhaps it is caused by a weather? In the BIOS I chose "performance" mode

    L20 - 101, Pentium M (1.73), Intel GMA915, 1 GB of RAM

    ;)

    Hello

I don t think that this could be a serious problem!
Usually, the fan starts to turn if a temperature level has been reached.
The temperature inside the laptop depends on the use of the laptop

You can also consult the laptop for dust and debris fans. Dust inside the laptop may have a bad influence on cooling performance

But do not worry, everything seems to be ok ;)

  • Satellite L20-100 can be started from a USB external hard drive?

I recently bought Toshiba Satellite L20-100 and I wonder if:
    1. is it possible to boot this machine from a disk usb external drive?
    2. it is possible to attach another internal hard drive?

Assuming that the two answers above are 'no', how can we solve the following problem: I need hard drive space, I need to launch 3 systems of separate Wxp operating on the same machine (Toshiba Satellite L20-100).

You are right. The answer is no. Only thing you can do is to create 3 partitions and install on each a favorite OS. Using the Boot Manager, you will be able to choose one that fits in the beginning upward.

  • Satellite L20-101: could not connect my TV with the svhs

    Hi guys,.

    I have a problem.
    I have a L20 - 101 and I can't connect my tv with my toshiba svhs output.
I reinstalled the drivers for the motherboard and videography, what can I try?
    Thank you

Okay, it looks like a really not nice problem.

So, how do you try to switch to the TV? You have the possibility in your display properties, but not the machine * recognize * the TV? You also have the FN + F5 key combination to change the display, have you already tried?

And regarding your display drivers (including vga you? nvidia or ati?)

You can take a look here to find the latest drivers to work for mobile platforms:

  • Satellite L20-153 may not get the WLAN to work

    Hello world

I have a problem with my laptop wifes that I've not been able 2 fix.

Its windows had crashed and wouldn't start in 'BACK' keept marker just flashes and nothing happened, I tried to restore to later work windows, but that did not help, nor the integrated security mode. So I took out the CD/DVD recovery and tried to do a new installation, the configuration of the installation has functioned well until he asked me 2 remove the disc and restart the comp I did.

When it restarts the same problem appeared (flashing marker and nothing happens).
So what I did I took a normal windowes XP (SP2) and reinstalled eveverything (I formatted the drive also) and rebooted and it worked.

2 my next challenge is 2 get all the hardware working I got all all work, but the WIFI network (integrated).
After I installed everyting I saw my network wireless but next time I started the comp, it disappeared along with all other WLANS that I use to be Alba 2 see. and when I still have refreash sound empty.

I tried to disable it and then turn it on again but it doenst help.

I also tried once more to use the Toshiba recevory drive but you have the same problem.
So now I'm back with my windows Xp is installed, but I can't get the WLAN to work.

    There isn't any conflics material.

So now I need your help about how to do 2.

    tanks a lot.

    Kind regards

    Hello

On WLAN, there is actually no philosophy, and few things are important:
The wireless network card must be installed properly (properly listed in the Device Manager) and
It must also be enabled. Initially with switch WLAN (WLAN light is on) and then activate it by using the FN + F8 key combination.

After making this key WLAN card should see all available wireless networks. To connect to one of them is another theme.
To be honest I didn't understand exactly what is happening. If I understand you right your laptop can see WLAN but after reboot all available wireless networks is not visible. Am I right about that?

Have you tried rebooting your WLAN router and restart analysis the WLAN area?
