Portege M800 - Chicony Webcam does not work

I have a Portege M800 and the Camera Assistant Software simply does not work.

I upgraded my Vista 64-bit Service Pack 2, I reinstalled the driver several times and I downloaded the latest version of the Camera Assistant Software from the Web from Toshiba site and nothing worked.

I get a 'preview of no.' when I load first it and 'Graph making Fail' when I go to the video.
However, the only thing is that I know that the camera itself is very well because very rarely it will work on MSN messenger, but he has not responded to other programs.

Please help me!

Hello

> The only thing however is that I know that the camera itself is very well because very rarely it will work on MSN messenger, but he has not responded to other programs.

This means that more different applications have access to this camera. Is this good?
I think that is the question!

In your case, I recommend you to disable the webcam software in msconfig-> Startup tab.
In addition, you must disable the MSN also in msconfig. The point is that only an application that uses and sharing the webcam should run in the background of the OS.
I think that this would avoid problems with other software

    Hello

I hope someone can help me. For 3 weeks, I have buy the Toshiba A200 with Windows Vista Home Premium and very good built-in Webcam function. I have no problem.

Yesterday I did an upgrade to Windows Vista Edition full and now the Webcam does not work.
Every time when I want to launch the following software message come «Please activate the webcam»

In the it´s control panel that wrote this function of Doesna´t of hardware because the software isn't fair. But I have the right software. I have try the original software on me the hard drive and, of course, I do a download from Toshiba and I try this.
But I still got the same message.

    Please help me.

    Hello

I m not an A200 owner and, therefore, I can not say much about this webcam tool, but to my eyes the Chicony webcam software should work with Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, because this version is almost the same as Windows Vista Home Premium. The ultimate version supports more features like Home Premium, but the software is running and must be compatible with both versions of Vista.

How did you install Vista Ultimate? You perform a new installation of the OS, or you upgrade only the Home Premium-> Ultimate?

Anyway, currently version 1.0 of the Chicony camera software is available on the Toshiba page.
You may need to wait until the new update has been published.

You can try to install the CAM such as ManyCams software - http://www.manycam.com/
Basically, the program to access your webcam video and redistribute it as a video device ManyCam.

  • Re: Portege M800-10Z - WiFi does not work

    Hello.
I have a problem. I recently bought Toshiba Portege M800-10Z and downgraded Windovs Vista to XP service pack 3. All right, but the WiFi does not work.

I tried to upgrade the wireless Lan driver, but it still does not work...
I have Intel Wireles WiFi Link 5100 and system is Windovs XP service pack 3
Is there someone who could help me with this issue?

I would be very grateful for advice.

    Thank you very much

    Hello!

That you say with the WiFi does not work?
Can you connect to the router?
The WLAN card is recognized in Device Manager?

To solve this problem make sure that you have the latest version of the BIOS. Check on the Toshiba site.

Also disable features of security as a hidden SSID, MAC address filtering and so far away.
Check if an update of the firmware on your router available.

    Hello

The question of the internal webcam can be resolved by installing the update from Ms.
The Vista SP1 also provides the necessary MS fix and it is advisable to install it too.

I found this document Toshiba which describes this problem and brings you the solution.

  • Driver Chicony webcam does not work on the Satellite A200-13O

After the misfortune that occurred to my webcam, I tried to fix it by uninstalling the driver and then put it back in place (by the toshiba Web site).
I did this twice and it does not work,
allthought the pc installed the driver, the camera was not working because a file was for win95 and my pc has vista.

After several reboots, I made the following
    -Start
    -all programs
    -camera assistant software
    -Right click
-options (the last button in the right click menu...)
    -compatibility
    -Select work in win95 compatibility
    -ok
Sorry for my English, I am Greek and my menu vista also... :))
If anyone wants more details please to contact me.
I hope this could help those in despair...

    Hello

Yes I would like some details;).

For example: manufacturer who is the camera, it is built, made, he has worked previously, and so on...

So there is a lot to say, have you ever said to the second part, but I'm missing a few things as I've described above. By the way: you can try to recover your machine, if you really need on your camera, but it is really the LAST RESORT.

  • Satellite A300 - Chicony webcam does not work after upgrade to windows 7

I'm frustrated so I came here to see if anyone knows a way to help solve this problem.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300, which came with Windows Vista 64 - bit pre-installed. After about a year or two to have the laptop, I decided to upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit. In the process, I believe that the driver of my webcam (Chicony usb 2.0 camera) has been eliminated.

When I go into the Device Manager in the Control Panel, the webcam is not listed; nor is "imaging devices."

I tried to download the driver manually, but I get an error message "Webcam open fail." Restart the computer or the camera. »

My computer has registered my webcam as 'unknown device '.

If anyone knows how to solve this problem, please, I beg you, let me know.

    > My computer has registered my webcam as 'unknown device '.
    > I tried to download the driver manually, but I get an error message "Webcam open fail." Restart the computer or the camera. »

This means that the the webcam driver is not installed correctly.
Visit the page of European driver of Toshiba and install the software/driver webcam just for this model of laptop.

If the installation fails, restart the laptop and the tent.
    This should solve the problem.

  • Chicony webcame is not working on the Satellite A350-12j and Win 7 64 bit

    Hello

The chicony webcam does not work on my toshiba Satellite A350-12j and windows 7 64 bit...

I always get different errors as
    "graphics make it fail."
"the device is locked by another program.
    etc...

I tried many things and watch them on a lot of messages, but nothing does. I installed a lot of drivers and programs to solve, but nothing works.
at first the camera was ok but now nothing seems to help and the camera is broken...

    Can you help me??

    Thank you!

    > seen as 1 million messages like mine and not even 1 right answer on how to solve it!
I guess you didn't read all these messages correctly

The user Symbian wrote that her webcam works fine! He used the software/driver for the Toshiba page as well

Since the Skype reports an unknown error too, I guess that this whole thing has noting to do with the webcam software, but with your Windows 7 installed!

Seems a registry keys, files or all what it might be, are confused upward!
In your case, I would try a new installation! Install Win 7 and the Toshiba drivers/software.
    Then test the webcam.

Don t install any 3rd party software before you would test the webcam!

  • Satellite P205-S6257: Chicony USB Webcam does not work after upgrade to Vista Ultimate

I've upgraded to Vista Ultimate Home and now my Webcam does not work. When I tried to update the driver, I get a message that says that Windows has encountered a problem installing the software driver for your device...

The installation file forthis training device is missing a necessary entry. Maybe it's because the file INF was written for Windows 95 or later. Contact your hardware vendor.

I succumbed to find the drivers on the Chicony website. My laptop is a Satellite P205-S6257 and the Toshiba is not yet display on their support site. I don't have a disk for webcam.

    Any suggestions?

  • My webcam does not work. How can I make it work again?

-Very well, so I have a Gateway computer, T-Series, not exactly that model because when I sent the computer geek team, they covered the sticker on the bottom that tells you what it is, but that should not be too significant. Thus, the original hard copy of this computer died earlier. I took the hard drive on an HP failure and after I installed all the drivers on the right, the computer works perfectly, the hitch is that the hard drive it's a HP photo and not a bridge. The point being, my gateway integrated webcam does not work without the driver (of course) and because the hard does not know that the computer has one, I don't know which driver should I download. If anyone has any information on the gateway series T, as those who had webcams and how webcam can be in the computer, so that I can find the driver for that it would be useful.

EDIT: The laptop is a gateway series W350a T with a 1.3 Megapixel WebCam. If you guys can offer any help, please do.

These links do not help me that the computer is running Windows Vista, not Windows 7 which you would know if you had paid attention to what it has been marked to the title.

Also, in my edit, I added that the computer was a W350a. At this point your suggestions don't help me because after more than an hour to keep searching, I finally found a picture of the T-16 of the gateway that is my model exactly. After another 20 minutes of research I discovered a link to the website of gateway directly to the page where this computers drivers. I downloaded the Chicony WebCam Assistant and viola, problem solved.

Thanks but no thanks for these suggestions, so they're as bad as, if not worse than what I would have gotten if I had called the bridge to help Customer Support. The only difference is that I wouldn't have to wait a day for this stupid proposal, I would be immediately obtained.

    Hi all

I could find a Vista driver and installed, have Aero + photos on the desktop, but my webcam does not work on msn messenger and this is the only way for me to see my family.

    Thanks for your help

    Hello

I m a bit confused; you have some problems with the graphics card or with the webcam?

I assume you mean on external webcam connected to the USB port? Right?
What happens if you connect the webcam to the laptop? Can win 7 recognize the device? Have you installed additional drivers for this webcam?
Most of the time it s necessary to do so because I think that it s not Plug & Play device.

  • Integrated on my Satellite T130 webcam does not work

    Hi all

the built-in on my Satellite T130 webcam does not work.

I use Windows 7 Home Premium and already reinstalled the drivers of webcam 64-bit through this Web site. However, when I click on the webcam application, simply, nothing happens - program doesn't open at all or turn off instantly. Skype is not also acknowledge a cam. In addition, there is no webcam in Device Manager (a not detected USB device however) and no symbol of cam in the Ribbon of Toshiba quicklaunch, which is like the camera is started according to the "manual".

Someone has an idea what is the problem? Looks like a common problem according to Google, but no suggestions other than to reinstall the drivers. Perhaps another application blocking the camera? Firewall settings?

I'd appreciate any help, thank you.

    Best regards Florian

    > a USB not detected if

Maybe it's the webcam from the webcam is connected to the internal USB controller on the motherboard.

It looks like a webcam driver is not installed correctly.
Try the webcam driver released for the satellite t230 or other series of satellites.
    Versions are newer

Also recommend that you check the BIOS settings.
In some cases, the BIOS contains a webcam option where the webcam can be turned on and off.
