Portege M800 - how to disable Intel SpeedStep?

Hi all

can anyone tell me please where to disable Intel SpeedStep in BIOS of my Portege M800? I have already updated to the latest version 4.80 but I can't yet find a related Intel SpeedStep option.

Best regards

Dante

Hello

Why you want to disable SpeedStep? I mean that's a feature and not a bug ;)
SpeedStep can improve the performance of your laptop, because the CPU will be a little more overclocked card motherboard/BIOS if you run programs of high CPU usage. So that s nice

If you want to disable, you must do in Windows power management if you can find t such an option in the BIOS.

  • Portege M800 - how to upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit?

Hi - I have 2 drives Toshiba Windows 7 upgrade, but there is no option in the installation process to select 64-bit (I currently have a 32-bit Vista Home premium there)

    I have a Portege M800-11J - who says that it supports 64-bit

Clues as to how can I change this?

    Hello

Looks like you didn t includes the upgrade works.

You can t do a upgrade of each version. For example, you can upgrade a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version, or upgrade from a higher edition of Windows to a lower edition.

Which means that you can only upgrade to 32-bit Windows 7. For Windows 7 64-bit, you must make the new facility.

  • How to enable Intel Speedstep on Satellite L300-1BD

    Hello

Today, I bought the Toshiba L300 - 1BD that Vista is preinstalled.

To improve my batterylife, I changed vista to 'classic design' and the option of energy "energy saving".
Although it does not use the Intel Speedstep technology.

When I run the utility: CPU - Z, it shows that the speed of the CPU is at 2000 Mhz. normally, when the CPU is idle, it must change the multiplier to low, screaming result in approximately 1000 mhz. This can save a lot of battery!

Does anyone know why it does not work, or how to make it work?

    Thanx and Greetz from Germany!

Are you sure that the processor supports the Intel speed step technology?

I googled a little bit and it seems that this unit was equipped with the 667 MHZ Celeron 575 Merom (2.00 GHz) CPU

    And I m 100% sure this CPU * DOESN T * support speed stage.

  • Portege Z30t - how to disable display backlight?

    Hello

I'm just trying to find how to disable the backlight of the display on my new Z30t.
While the process is always running, just to save energy.

Here, I have the FN keys to put the light upwards or downwards, but they won't back down to zero, and there is no key to stop.
I've had 6 laptops so far, and all had a FN key to turn off the display to save power.
So I'm kind of scratching my head, how to do here.

In addition, I would like to reprogram some FN keys as I don't need FN standby and hibernation.
Could not find information on this topic, also.

    Any idea? Help, please!

    Thanks, Tommy

You can use the FN in order to increase and decrease the backlight of the display, but you can not close the screen completely using these function keys.

If you want to turn off the display after a certain time, I recommend you to change the settings in the Windows power options.

Go to the Control Panel-> Power Options
Select a map page of power, on the left click here, choose when turn off the display.
The parameters of change for the plan page, choose the display settings you want to use for this power plan when your laptop is running on battery and when it is plugged.

    Hello

You can't disable the internal Intel graphics.
The point is that it is controlled automatically if the graphics card supports nVidia Optimus technology.

If the application needs complete graphic performance, the external nVidia chip will be used.
If the application does not have good graphic performance, the internal GPU Intel would be used to save energy.

But of course, you can assign the GPU in a single application.

  • Portege M400: How to disable biometric fingerprints

Hi guys, at our office, we are setting up a Toshiba M400 that will later prove the image using ghost and deploy approximately 75 remote users. I want to disable biometric fingerprinting equipment so that users cannot use it.

I removed the Protector Suite QL and also the drivers associated with the biometric device. "TCUB. SYS '.

in Device Manager, the device is set to "do not use this device" but it still shows in Device Manager? I also deleted any reference to it in the registry. search for "protector suite ql ' keys and remove them.

The device does not work, but is always LURKING in the background, which will encourage users to check and try and make it work!

Is it possible to remove completely any reference to this device, so it does not show in the Device Manager?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks... more information or question please let me know.

No, I don't think so. Shows Device Manager this device is disabled.
You can try to uninstall this device, but AFAIK after restarting again the OS will automatically search for the driver.
But why you don t set permissions for installing the driver?
You can create a new user account of quest and set the settings to a lower level.

By the way: you could try to remove the TOSHIBA fingerprint utility

  • HP Compaq 8000 Elite SFF: How to disable speedstep

    Hello

I'm trying to disable Intel Speedstep on my machine. I heard that it is accessible via the menu of the BIOS, but I looked through all the menus out there, and I can't find anything about this is labelled Speedstep or EIST.

    Can someone help me?

    Thank you!

Let the speedstep, it is designed to operate as low as possible depending on the application you are using, run prime95 and you will see mounted power 2.3 GHz cpu.  I see no reason to turn it off.

So really, you want or need to do, in the Power Options, see this:

  • How can I disable the Speedstep settings or change the IRQ?

I'm doing a record with external USB audio interface and speed of 700 m (Intel Pentium Mobile Centrino) seems to have an impact on the recording. I get blips every 40 seconds that make it impossible to get anything recorded. When I turn the SpeedswtichXP for power settings, the blip becomes more frequent and even more disturbing, about every ten seconds.

I'm running an Insipron 700 m with Windows XP SP3. If it helps, the Audio interface / Midi is a M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R.

My guess is that I have to disable Speedstep. But my BIOS does not have this option. Is there an option to change my IRQ, a separate but related matter. I tried to upgrade (flash) BIOS that Dell offers on its site, but I must have version cureent th because nothing has changed.

If someone could help understand me how to turn off Speedstep in BIOS or change the IRQ of the external devices on my system, I'll ask them to marry me... uh, or not. I'll be super happy however. Thank you!

  • Portege M800 - refund of Windows Vista license but how?

After that my A100 finally broken I wanted to buy a new laptop (Portege M800). But unfortunately, it comes with Windows Vista and other software that I have any use.

According to my interpretation of the license agreement, that I cannot agree to all conditions of it. Somewhere in the EULA, there is a statement that asks me to return the license to the dealer or the manufacturer for a refund if I am not prepared to sign.

The seller I bought this laptop since would not accept the license and the laptop which is unacceptable to me.
Y at - it a program that allows me to buy this laptop without software?
I want to say this right is granted by the local laws and in addition to this software to the group a hardware device is illegal in my country.

So where can I get the promised refund?

    Hey Buddy

Reading this post I had to smile a little bit :)
The laptop comes with preinstalled Microsoft Windows OS I think that it s Vista

This OS comes with the laptop.
Of course, you can install another OS if you want you have to buy it and you can install it
But I put t believe that you will get no refund license Vista of someone if you want to use

I've never heard of such thing and never met someone who got a refund of such license

    Hello

Is it possible enable on this laptop hardware virtualization support?
I have the latest version of the bios (v4.80) and win7 64 bit, but I want to use Windows XP virtual mode function (PC technology)

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    Depends on the CPU.
If the processor supports VT and VT is enabled in the BIOS, then you can use.

The M800-11R uses the Intel CORE2 DUO processor T6400 processor.
    http://Ark.Intel.com/product.aspx?ID=40479&processor=T6400&spec-codes=SLGJ4

The Intel CORE2 DUO processor T6400 processor does not support the VT and therefore, you will not be able to use the VT,

After that I uninstalled 'Vista-value-added-package' everything works correctly. Why? Now my FN keys do not work or are disabled. Why?
Before uninstalling the package, the first button next to the power button had to function to turn off the backlight of the Logo, the touchkeys senitive one of my touchpad. NOW he cut the sound! Hello guys

This is really strange. I put t really know what happen on your laptops. The fact is that these buttons are controlled by the software. If I remember well he called support Button or a button control and she is part of the package of added value.

VAP contains several different tools and utilities. When you remove the VAP, it will be removed the responsible application of the functionality of FN (Flashcards), and this is the reason why the FN doesn't work anymore.

So, theoretically everything should be OK when you install PPV again. Again theoretically. Why you still have this problem I put t know and I don t believe that no one can say for sure. Maybe some registry entries are corrupted now? Who knows?

I presume that you don t want to use a more radical solution and do clean install of the new OS, but it can certainly help. With own OS pre-installed (factory settings) everything works well again.

In the end, I must say that I use Satellite U400 (similar to your Portege) almost 6 months now and all the buttons work correctly. I always use the Vista version and I n t made no changes. It works well.

  • Portege M800 - multimedia keys do not work

A week ago, my laptop M800 multimedia keys stopped working. They does not light either. I tried the fix Package of added value and that doesn't seem to work for me. I downloaded TAVP but nothing happened.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to make the buttons still works? Thank you. I run on a 32 bit OS (if you need to know).

    Hi l_vasic,

Have you checked the BIOS? AFAIK you can also enable or disable these keys to enlightenment. It must be enabled

Otherwise, it would be interesting to know what operating system you are using.
Have you downloaded package of added value for Portege M800?
