Power 5v UMI-7774

What is the rated current of the UMI-7774 internal 5V power supply?  It is the power on pins 8 comments.  The user manual does not specify side.  This isn't the power ISO.  This is for 3-18 of the manual page.

Thank you

Hello

From the following PDF file: http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/373359c.pdf: "provides 1 a current maximum, shared out between pin 3 of the control connector, connector of feedback pins 4 and 8 and pin 3 of the breakpoint trigger connector."

It's on page 30, table 8.

Thank you

I'm a movement control system design using 3 stepper motors (or Nema 23) and therefore 3 or P70360 readers. Is a umi-7774 required to connect to the controller 4 card pci motion-axis?  (I'm confused as its description on the site nor said that it is necessary for the 3rd party readers BUT in discussions I've read a lot of people have used umi 7774 or readers)

    Hello aks.

Yes, you will need to purchase and use our 7774 universal movement (UMI) Interface to connect the three engines of readers / motion controller card.

He could have confused because it does not explicitly say that it is necessary for the 3rd party readers, but not necessarily required for our readers. That said, the vast majority of customers use the UMI Board, because it eliminates the need for custom cables and makes it much easier to connect to several axes.

  • By axis high speed capture using UMI-7774

    Hello

I want to use capture high speed on each axis of my pci-7344 Controller.

I use UMI-7774 and evrything is correctly connected to the command of servo etc...

I read the manual of the umi-7774, but I see nothing on the capture trigger high-seed.

How do I use the signal high speed capture for axe1?

What are the necessary wiring to the umi-7774 to use this signal?

Page 3-25 in the Manual: "the UMI-7774/7772 has one 15-pin D - SUB connector you use to.

wiring output input trigger and breakpoint. This connector allows access

to trigger four inputs and four outputs of breakpoint. "

is that the breakpoint TRIGGER connector in the Global connectors of the UMI has this signals for each axis?

    Thank you

    MOR

    Mor,

I don't think that it is possible to route multiple signals on the same line of the RTSI, because that would mean that even if a signal is high, other signals take on the same line in a low state. I think that you will use for OR external logic circuits indicates the breakpoint.

  • Connect the power supply for NI UMI 7772

    Hi friends,

I'm trying to connect a UMI-7772 on P70530 drive to control a stepper motor

It is written in the manual that came with UMI - 7772, that: after connection + 24V terminal lead and ve - V to Terminal C, V terminal must be connected on V_iso C connector for terminal C_iso.   I was wondering if that means I have really physically connect terminal V V_iso and C_iso terminal C on the NI UMI-7772 map?

The question arose because it seems unnecessary to make the external connection, it could have been easily connected internally to the plant itself?

    Thank you

    With respect,

    Partha

    Partha,

Viso and CISO are used to power external systems such as switches and sensor detection and fault (I highly recommend the use of an emergency stop switch). The 24 v supply is used to power the UMI himself. If the external circuit uses a different voltage of 24V, you can define Viso to this voltage (in the range of 5V to 30V). If you do not switch/sensor external, you must connect as you said in your post, you can always power external devices, but they are not isolated from the internal circuits UMI you can meet ground loop problems. The connection is not made in-House have isolated the available power source.

  • Best control of value drivers step by step solution

    Hello

I am currently working on a project of University for a crossing of 2 axes for our wind tunnel. We will be using engines for traffic and control through LabVIEW. I've been watching the motor axis controllers but must admit I am a bit confused about a few things. So far I have come up with two possible options, but am unsure of the accessories that I need to complete the functionality I need. Here are the options:

1 controller PCI-7334 4-axis stepper (map 4 axes instead of 2-axis as well as a third axis of movement can be added at a later date)

    2-OR-9512 CompactRIO module x 2

I want to be able to control 2 Motors NEMA-23 with quadrature encoder feedback using units of power P75030 or P70360. The main thing I puzzle me is if I would need to buy the NO-UMI-7774 or UMI-7764-NOR for that or if encoder disks and motors stepper can connect directly to the PCI card. Also there are connectivity accessories that would be required for the NOR-9512 or everything here is directly connected to the module.

Thanks in advance for any help,

    Adam

    Hi Adam,.

The two options of PCI-7334 and NOR-9512 times will be adapted for the control of motors stepper NEMA 23.

I found some documents that describe in detail what you need for each of these options.

    PCI-7334 - http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/372324d.pdf

    NI9512 - http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/375578a.pdf

For more information on which is provided with each module and current pricing, I would advise to contact our sales team for a more in-depth exchange of views with you so that you get the best configuration for your needs.

  • limit switches will not turn off

We use PXI NI Motion Assistant 1031 and measuring and Automation Explorer. Our limit switches always read assets, and when we enter the Configuration of the axis to try to change things, something creates a loop of update that prevents us from changing the default confiurations. Any suggestions on the problem of update or limit switch problems? The purpose of probing race shows good performance 0V - 4.8V / activate, so it is not the hardware.

    Thank you

    Aaron

Has managed to solve this problem by reducing the pulling up of size of resistance (from 1 K 300) on limit switches themselves. Apparently, the motion controller (NI UMI-7774) requires a certain amount of current to power the LEDs position switch and save switches as active. Thank you, anyway.

  • Reduction current P7000 is disabled.

    Hello!

I have a third-party engine control. I have attached to the peripheral P70530. And I NI PXI-7340 and UMI-7774 in control of stepper motor system:

OR PXI-7340 <--->UMI-7774 <--->P70530---> engine of third party

All the devices work, stepper motor is the motor, but I have a problem with the current reduction - I need to turn off engine, when it does not.

When I connect only P70530---> engine (without PXI and UMI) third-party control and to liaise with the PC (via the series RS-232 connector), I informed reduction works - there is no current to step the motor cables. But when I connect the entire system:

OR PXI-7340 <--->UMI-7774 <--->P70530---> engine of third party

Current reduction is disabled - motor stay without impulse control, but there are currently in step motor wiring and tree holds.

    Where can be a problem?

    Hi all!

    Today, I've solved the problem!

I start from the beginning - power supply. I used Acopian 24V unregulated power sourse to UMI and P70530. And it was really "unregulated" - she gives 27, 7V on output - it is not bad for power amplifier, but UMI input voltage it is possible use only 24V +-10% (26, 4 v - max). After I start using another sourse of power with exactly 24V output - all start to work right. Axes are killing, tree is free.

I thank all of this support are full of aid.

  • SH68-c68-S cables and SHC68-c68-S are interchangeable?

The SH68-C68-S cable is specified for the UMI-7764 interfaces and the SHC68-C68-S is specified for the UMI-7774, but these cables are both compatible with the UMI-7774?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Although the cables do not seem to be very similar, it is not recommended to use these interchangeable cables. The main difference is in the internal wiring. The SH68 cable is also used for the DAQ cards and have a common ground, which can create problems with the maps of cable movement. The following knowledge base articles provide more information and specifications.

  • Breakpoint of position synchronization

    Hello

I run an application where I am synchronization of data acquisition with the engine query step by step using the breakpoint of my motion controller feature.  Ideally, I would like to synchronize the start of data acquisition with a known position of the engine within 1ms.

The way I currently have the updated code in place, my motor and encoder initially begin to zero steps/count indictment, then move in a negative way.  I want to start pretty close to the start of the query the DAQ (the exact time is not serious, but I need to measure accurately the corresponding position); to do this, I put my breakpoint to trigger when the encoder position is-1.  However, looking at the position of the encoder measured (using reading encoder Position.flx), it is clear that the encoder "jumps" from 0 to-10 steps as the engine passes through the first stage.  According to the angular speed of the motor, this takes ~ 5ms.

So I guess my question is, even if the breakpoint is set at-1 he will actually trigger when the encoder reads - 10 since he does not exactly 1?  Or do I somehow interpolate between the measures of 0 and -10 to estimate the moment that the rail - 1 Encoder?

I use a PXI-7354 controller and an acquisition of data PXI-6229 mounted into a chassis SMU-1062 q.  Data acquisition is connected to a module SCXI-1520 strain gauge with a SCXI-1314 mounting block (I don't think that what counts in what concerns the latency relaxation time).  My engines are set to 400 steps/rev and the corresponding encoders are 4000counts/rev; they are connected to the controller of movement through a UMI-7774.

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Matt

    Greetings, Matt;

I apologize, I did some research but assumed that I must have forgotten to post it.

After discussion with someone in R & D, it seems that the breakpoint is triggered when the encoder transmits the brand-1. Now, if there is a reading when the encoder is in the - 10, he can score in the software that the engine stopped to of-10. However, because the case is done at the hardware level, the pulse will be sent exactly at what time the encoder through this point-1.

Again, I apologize for the delay and wish you a nice day.

    Best regards;

    Simon P.

  • Configuration of the analog output of the controller PCI-7358

    Hello world

I work with the PCI-7358 during a period of time and now I need to configure the output of the controller for a specific purpose. All I have to do is turn on and turn off the output to an analog 5V DC voltage level. I use a UMI-7774 as a breakthrough. I plugged the IO of 5-8 to the UMI axis MOVEMENT and I hope to get the tension off-axis 1 of the UMI CONTROL block. I use DAC.vi to load to turn on and off this PIN on UMI. When I tried the voltage level was 1.5VDC and it fluctuates so I tried to read the voltage on the PIN and she was 3.2Vac. It was said in this DAC.vi of charge help offset values or front torque limits does not affect the level of tension. I can't understand what is to limit the output voltage level. (I tried the 32000 and-32000 for entry this .vi)

If anyone can help urgently, I will be grateful...

    Gencer Genç

    Hi Roman,

in MAX, you must configure the axis as the stepper motors. You don't have to worry about the type of comment. You can leave this set to "encode". You can configure the engines loop Mode step by step in the tab settings of the Stepper to open loop. But in fact your needs, no matter, if you configure open-loop or closed-loop axis. Any mode stepper will be unmap the CAD of the axis.

In LabVIEW, just use ' configure axis resources "and map of the main output of your axis of stepper output or 'None '. This will also unmap the CAD of the axis. The secondary output must also be mapped to 'None '.

    I hope this helps,

    Jochen

  • Servo motor gets stuck in the loop

My project is to control two motors from the pedals with LabVIEW in combination with UMI-7774 and PCI 7350.

I use a traditional format of State Machine to simultaneously control two motors according to the absolute position mode.

In one of the first States, both motors are wound manually by using the speed mode (to make a desired voltage).

In a later State, the motors are wound to a position specified by the user when you press a foot switch. When you press the other pedal, they are then held in the previous "original" position

After the first "Tension" indicate when the winding engine and the course due to the pedals is running, the program gets stuck in the State of wind.

Although drivers are told to go to a specific position, they never move and that's why the program is unable to move to the next State.

I've attached a screenshot of the winding State where the program is stuck (the engines are not mobile, so when the final position is to compare it with the desired position, the loop continues to go).

    Help, please.

    CAT

    I solved the problem.

States "Wind engine left" and "Right wind engine" speed has been put back to zero. When the program moves toward States of wind/flow, the speed is always zero (the engines cannot move).

I simply set the speed value desired in each of the States LBL/RBL (that allowed the engine to get to the position of desire).

    Thanks for all the help,

    Catherine
