power dv7 3190eo

Hi HP

My mother has a DV7 3190eo who has worked like a charm until recently when the power stopped working. I looked on the net for a replacement, but impossible to find a power 120W, including specifications for the laptop says that it has.
Now, my question is... Is a 120W power supply required for the laptop or can I simply replace it with an a 90W?

Hello

I have a charger 90W for a Core i7 Dv7-3000, but I think even a 65W charger would work on your Core i5 processor. I suggest get a real ebay HP charger. It's more expensive than real but always authentic. The connector must be 7.4x5mm.

  • Pavilion dv7-6135dx: power supply for Pavilion dv series

I have a pavilion laptop dv7 is about 2-1/2 years. I just had to replace after it does not charge while plugged in the battery. I always ran my laptop plugged in and just developed this problem about 5 weeks ago. I received the spare cord recall. Now with the new battery installed, it still will not charge so that hip upward and running. I called the Geek Squad at Best Buy, which has replaced the battery. They said to turn off the unit and allow it to charge for 8 hours. Then the battery charged. So now, I'll have to turn off the laptop at all times to keep the battery charged. It will take a full load of 6-1/2 hours. I think that the power adapter is going or gone bad. It happened to someone else out there? Should I order a new adapter or just to treat the problem and turn off the laptop for the battery to charge?

I ended up having to replace the battery because it was defective. The motherboard was not the problem.  But in the long run, it was actually the adapter that has gone wrong and killed the battery cells. I bought a smart adapter HP at Best Buy, plugged in, turned on the laptop and Yes, it started to load the runtime so solve my problem. I had no idea that the AC adapter might go bad after just 2-1/2 years, but he did. Hope this ends up helping someone else.

You can remove the need for a power on password as follows.

Shut down the laptop.  Now on TAP the ESC key as soon as you press the power button to access the start menu, then select f10 to open the Bios menu.  Use the arrows to select the Security tab and press ENTER.  Use the arrow keys again to highlight the power on password and press ENTER.  Enter the current password and then the new password, simply leave this blank and press on enter - do the same for the confirmation field.  Press f10, select this option to save the new settings and press to enter.

  • Power adapter - HP PAVILION DV7-3150EQ

    Hello

I bought the HP PAVILION DV7-3150EQ, and it stops itself almost instantly after the initialization of the operating system (just at the moment where the HP Setup programs starts). I have two suggestions for this topic:

    1. the CPU heats too quickly and the protection of the motherboard turns on and off the computer.

2 in the specification of the product, I noticed the power adapter must have 120 W power (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01997646), but I received with adapter 90 W (adapter fault current may have been replaced by the Distributor, I don't know), and what I think, is that it does not provide the computer with enough power so it shuts down. What I mean, is there a strict rule on food and their use adapters (specified model should be used with the adapter specified etc..)

Can you guide me I just think, or there might be another problem.

I was looking for an explanation on the closure and the motherboard overheating protection seemed reasonable to me. I was wondering is this a common problem or I am luck one of perhaps hundreds of thousands made notebooks with Core i-5?

I removed the battery and left it on the power adapter, but it's the same thing.

I did not understand you completely clear. You mean that even with less powerful adapter(>120 Watts) the laptop should work well, and the battery should be charged, but for once more. Or should I contact my supplier and only get the right adapter (120 Watts).

    Best regards

Contact your provider and ask so he could be replaced by the model in the specifications of the laptop. The 90 Watt power adapter will work, but this isn't what has been specified to be included in the purchase.

I suggest that you try a hard reset

Remove the battery and the AC adapter.

Press and hold the power adapter for > 15 seconds.

Plug the power adapter (with the battery always off)

    Press the laptop power button.

Your laptop is now boot into Windows?

    If it is not then

Press the power button and press the F8 key to enter the BIOS.

If you are able to enter the BIOS and make the memory test.

Please post your results here in your thread.

  • Pavilion dv7-4080us: reminder of hp power cable

In announcement regarding August 26, 2014 of a recall program on the cords power supply for HP Laptops:

August 7, 2014, my PC Pavilion dv7 stopped working and I took it to Best Buy, where the problem resulted in a bad cord.  I bought a spare for $58,84 power cord at this time.

In December, I received an email from Hewlett-Packard communicate me of the recall program.

I called the telephone number explaining that I wanted to get a refund for my power cord, because I had been forced to buy a power cord prior to notification of the publication.

After having been approved around Department to Department and seen a few different numbers to call - with no satisfaction, I turned on this forum for help.

It is true that I am just stuck?  Even if my power cord was really faulty, because I needed my power cord until HP Announces I want just the cost to cover me?

Someone on this forum had this experience?

The callback is made to the cord that goes from the brick on the wall.

3 event errors are the same.  By chance I hear that the first accident was while I was surfing the net with IE8, it was the only common thing and 1 single tab - on yahoo.com.  The next crash I played Stalker through Steam.  And finally, when I had only Firefox running with 1 Tablet and I was not even touching the keyboard or the touchpad, I just read the screen, lol.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I thought I found the problem, but it always stops at random.  I called HP and they said that it's probably the motherboard.  I think that's their standard answer if they have no idea what is the problem.  In any case, I have to send it back, I got it for Christmas.  Now I have to use my old laptop for several days.  I am not happy that nobody cares, have a good day.

  • DV7-2185dx usually will not be market - indicator of no. - East power codes

    Hey everybody!

I have a DV7-2815DX, p/n NV023UA #ABA, and it will not turn on 99% of the time. Here is a description of the problem:

    • Power cord is plugged and the illuminated by the plug.
    • Battery is in, but no charge indicator. SOMETIMES (about 10% of the time) the charging light blinks constantly.
    • I hit the power button and nothing happens. The fans start, no beep codes, no flashing of the LED.
    • Same results when the battery is removed.
    • Same results when the battery is installed and the power supply cord is unplugged.

Once from time to time, the system tries to start. Fans of start and all lights light up (slider in the volume indicator wifi, etc), but then it turns off after about one second and continues the original problem.

Here are the steps I've taken so far:

    • Tried the hard reset steps described here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443371
    • I swapped the RAM. Tried a stick into the two slots, tried the other stick in both slots, tried both sticks in different locations. I have tried different RAM sticks.
    • I tried another from an another HP Pavilion laptop AC adapter.
    • As already said, I have tried with and without the battery installed.
    • I completely disassembled the laptop down to the motherboard and clean the radiator. I also have the form of basic thermal paste to the processor and GPU. I also did all the connections have been fixed. One was suspicious:

It is located inside the laptop power cable style: http://www.itpartsource.com/searchquick-submit.sc?keywords=538085-001+. The wires in the connector 2 pins were loose, the connection itself was not a coward but the actual wires inside the connector. I tried to reinstall the best I could, but I am not convinced that I made a difference.

    • I also replaced the CMOS battery. I noticed that the box located below the battery inside the small box in which it is located, what apperaed to be rust stains.

I could able to start completely twice, once before the dismantling and once after. Whenever he gave me an error 'checksum', on the CMOS, and it gives me the ability to load the default values (F1) or enter the settings (F10) system. I chose a different each time and was able to get to the windows startup and the laptop worked like a charm. After closing down, however, originally continued problem.

So, what do you think? Is that what cable power (I already ordered a new one, just to be sure)? What is the connection of the CMOS battery? What is the CPU or GPU? Or do I need a new motherboard?

I also had a supplementary question. Anyone know where I can get a new CPU, if I had to? If I buy a new motherboard, you know if it comes with the Integrated GPU already?

Thanks for posting my lengthy post! I look forward to your responses!

    Hello @PromisedLand,

I see that you have a problem with your laptop from consecutively. I will try to help you with this.

Please provide all the details you have to what has already been tried. It helps a lot in the direction on how to proceed. Of what you have tried, I'm also leaning towards the issue being to the system board.

    * be aware that changing the motherboard yourself can be very difficult to change the id of service without the HP software to do. You can contact the technical support for this part.

In Service and Maintenance Guide, you can find spare parts and the answers to your question on the system board. Page 79 has the cards of replacement system, page 93, processors. They are not part of the Council, but the graphics are.

You can check/contact the store part HP to order these parts.

I hope you're able to help.
