PowerEdge 2500 - no available boot device

I'm trying to revive an old Poweredge 2500 that starts up with the error: no available boot device, press F1 to retry or F2 to enter Setup utility

I have 3 drives on the SCSI channel Hot and also have a CD ROM on this channel too

I set the boot sequence to boot to CD Rom first, so that I can maybe just install Windows Server 2008 and get things up and running

But it is not booting to CD ROM. its just commissioning and turning the device No. Bot available

Is this dead or can I revive somehow? Thank you

Server 2008 DVDS only and I doubt that any 2500's never delivered with DVD players.  You should be able to boot from a CD of 2003.

Is there a BONE here, you want to fix it?  If so, do you have RAID (PERC 3/Di) activated in a RAID 1 or RAID 5?

    Hi, LT.

I suggest you go into the BIOS and change the boot device of whatever it is (it looks like floppy drive) on the hard disk in the list of bootable devices.

You will need to read the manual that came with the PC for additional instructions.

Sounds like the drive has failed.  You will probably need to buy a new one and load Windows and software on it.

  • No available boot device?

Unlike so many others on this site, after you receive the message "No boot device - insert boot disk and press any key", I don't then enter my mac no matter what buttons I press. I have a macbook air 11 inches, but I do not know the details because of this problem. If a boot disk is a physical disk, then I don't have a hard drive! What should I do? I literally have an essay due in the next few days, and it's on my laptop! If I can't open windows more, is well, because at this point, I want to just my mac back. Please help me, I'm desperate!

You should be able to boot OSX by holding down the alt/option directly key after hearing the startup sound (the "bang... »). Keep holding it until you see the disks that you can start with. One of them should be the Macintosh HD disk that contains your OSX installation. Select that drive and press ENTER. Then, your mac should start to OSX. Good luck!

  • No available boot device - PowerEdge T110 II

    Hello

My server will not go beyond this screen.  I tried starting and choosing F2 and F11, but always return to the screen.  And it takes forever to get there too.

No found boot disk?  Should not be able to find one of the hard drives?  Or he tells me that the integrated sata controller is dead?  The server is 2 hours away, so I can't watch cable.

Here are the specs of the drive: 331-2392: PERC S100 (Embedded SATA Softw are RAID) supports 2 hard drives - RAID 0

    What Miss me?

    Thank you

    Bruce

    Hello

    Bruce in the LMC
No found boot disk?  Should not be able to find one of the hard drives?  Or he tells me that the integrated sata controller is dead?  The server is 2 hours away, so I can't watch cable.

All the message tells us is that he could not find a bootable media. The system crossed the boot priority list and did not find whatever it is bootable. I would suggest starting in the BIOS OF THE controller and checking the status of the RAID array.

    Thank you

  • I tried to go down the slope of 10 return to 7 pro. He failed and now all I get is an error message "no available boot device ' help '.

I can't start at all. What I have to buy Win 7 again. Can I load XP and upgrade. I have a disc for XP

Where do you have Windows 7 the first time?  You will need to do this once again, however, it has been.  He could have a download, a CD, or something else.
  • No boot device available on a desktop XPS720.

I am running windows 7. I changed the motherboard battery and it rises: no available boot device. I did diagnostics on the 0 and 1 Sata drives. They have passed the tests. It goes, however, the post screen and it appears. No. boot device available strike F1 to retry boot, configuration utility F2for. The boot sequence is as follows: 1. SATA hard drive on board.  Onboard or USB Floppy drive (absent) hard drive PATA onboard 2 (absent). Onboard or CD-ROM USB drive controller integrated network 3 (absent). Peripheral USB add-in hard drive (not present) the floppy drive is set to internal

Restart, and then press F2 to open the BIOS Setup. Find and disable the floppy drive controller. (It may be called "Player A" controller, controller of "Floppy drive"...) Be sure to save changes before exiting the Setup program.

TIP: next time you intend to change the battery in the motherboard, copy down all the parameters of the BIOS (work) current first and so you can quickly define everything correctly afterwards.

  • No boot device not found error on R610 after the OS installed

    Hello

Then I configured the Raid 1, installed Windows server 2012 R2 from USB. But when the system reboots after the installation it says it us no available boot device. I tried to start it manually by the raid controller but still said the same thing. The boot is BIOS.

    Hi Robert

Thanks for your message, I solved the problem

The boot sequence was set correctly and I also tried to boot from the RAID directly, the problem was the firmware. I've updated all the firmware and that fixes the problem.

    Thanks for your help

  • Dimension E310-NO BOOT DEVICE AVAILABLE!

I tried to install a new 320 GB HDD, internal, in my Dimension E310 desktop environment, but I get an error message that reads, "floppy seek failure" on the 1st line, & below it reads "No Boot Device available, strike F1 key to reboot, F2 for Setup utility".

Ive done hard drive tests that pass.  According to a Dell support link, so it could b a software problem.  I have to buy another software?

The model starts just fine if I reinstall the old hard drive.

I bought this model in ' 05, 6 to 8 months later would not start then a supporter of Dell Tech ran me through a reprogramming of the model.  Since the Ive started then every time the comp Ive had to press F1 for her to run, & Ive not had any problems since.

How can I use my computer to work normally with the new hard drive?

  • Dell Poweredge 1750 - no boot device

Hi, I am totally new to the servers and have bought a second hand PE1750 off ebay so that I can learn how it works.

The vehicle currently has no operating system on it and the BIOS is always A06.

I downloaded A12 and try updating the bios.

    (1) is it possible to update the BIOS from the BIOS?

    (2) I don't have drive C: and CDROM in boot sequence via the F2 Setup utility.

    (3) no found boot device.

    (4) I have 1 configured logical drive

    (5) there is no option to boot from USB

can anyone help me get this site up and running please?

is it possible to update the BIOS from the BIOS?

Not from the "BIOS", per se... but you can start a utility to update update the firmware of the system (including the BIOS).

1750 does not support the boot on USB. You will need to boot from the CD/DVD (or PXE or diskette) for what you intend to do.

You can use SUU (Server Update Utility):

    http://www.Dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=GHC9V&FILEID=2731109500&osCode=WNET&ProductCode=PowerEdge-1750&LanguageCode=en&CategoryID=SM

First start in GDPS (systems management tools and Documentation) which requires:

    http://www.Dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=P8V4X

Or you can use the repository Manager:

    http://www.Dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=X5YK8

OR you can install an operating system and update the firmware of the system of the operating system.
