PowerEdge 2650 - DRAC3

Hey guys am having a problem with the DRAC.  I've recently updated the firmware to the latest version and when I try the Console Redirection now, it's just find out there and down his adage "Console redirection feature is not available! "WARNING: remote console is not available."

The funny part is if I restart the server, it will be settled on and I see Publisher but as soon as it hits the startup windows 2003 screen guess it becomes empty and begins to display the error Console is not available.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Hello and thank you for reading this note.  First time poster here. Please excuse the bad post...

I was given a Dell PowerEdge 2650 (dual Xeon), which has been deleted.  There is a license sticker on top for Windows 2000 Server..., but this product is no longer available from Dell.  Technical support proposed contacting Microsoft about the availability of an installation CD.

I've been wandering the Microsoft site to research to find out where to contact (e-mail, phone, Mail US?) about this... and turn to this group for assistance.

    Who should I contact?

    Your time is appreciated.

    Hello

You can take a look at the link below. Product support you requested is completed. If you want a copy of the OS, I suggest to do a search on your browser to get a copy

  • Windows installation power edge 2650 and 2550

Hello, I received recently 2 servers working on an installation an operating system however both these server with the same problem where you set the boot device in the bios to cd/dvd drive and reboot and insert a windows install cd in the drive, but the server will not start on that drive and continues to boot hard disk operating system.

However, if you insert a live cd as erd control for example server start at and run the cd I had the same problem on the power edge 2850 but I could boot from a usb flash key, but this is not possible on 2550 and 2650 as a usb flash device does not appear in the bios.

someone has an idea of what is the problem or how to get around this anomaly?

A laptop IDE drive should work, but 2003 should be in CD format.  There are however a few books press, however, use DVD format.

    Jakemesser
However I plan seeks to put the server 2012 r2 on the poweredge 2650

No go.  The 2650 supports the 32-bit processors only; 2008 x 86 is the latest Windows Server OS you can install on the 2650.

Which cable should, what backup software is recommended etc.. Please help because I've already lost a lot of data prompting me to get a backup unit.

  • Windows 2008 Server Installer is not detect RAID5

    Hey everybody,

So I tried to install Windows Server 2008 (not R2) on a Dell PowerEdge 2650 spare part, but when you are prompted to choose an installation location that nothing shows, at the bottom of the window, it is said "no hard disk found. "Click on load a driver.

So I download drivers RAID SAS, SCSI and RAID SCSI disk on Dell website and put them on a USB key and windows does not recognize the drivers.

It makes me crazy, I tried all the suggestions found online and not working

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    * edit *.

also have pictures of the BIOs settings and the RAID parameters if it helps someone

During the RAID, also initialize the logical drive?

Your system (BIOS, ESM, PERC) firmware is up to date? There is a very good chance that you will need the latest firmware for drivers to work.

    You should use this driver:
    http://downloads.Dell.com/SCSI-RAID/ADAPTEC_PERC3-DI_A01_R192965.exe

You must download and run the file to extract the content before using.

  • Help move my datastore on external USB drive to reformat with correct block size

    Hello

I use a Dell PowerEdge 2650 with a 550 GB disks configured in RAID 5 with ESX 3.5i

When I installed ESX I didn't pay attention to the size of the block. This is the default 1 MB and so I reached the maximum extends. Which means that I can receive only 260 GB on my 550 GB.

I need to change the parameter to a block size of 4 MB in order to access the entire table.

But for this I need to move my existing data store that contains a lot of important files for me.

I have not any currenty server with 260/300 GB of free space.

    I'll try the following:

    1. connect an external USB drive. I have ssh running, but I'm having difficulties to climb. I looked for info, but I am always sick.

    2. If possible, I would like to compress using gzip great records in my data store before moving. Can advise you on the location of the files in the system and if it is possible to do?

    Thank you

    Chris

    It is clear now,

in this case if your VM's you buy a big enough hard drive 250 GB single VMDK file to copy all virtual machine configuration, not he zip or compress, you can screw all of the data on disk

I have an idea, depends on the amount of data you have on your virtual hard disk, you can use VMware converter 4.0.1 and clone your VM with discs thin provision, Vmware converter will be "zipp" your VMDK file to the exact size of your data without any risk that would have lost you all your data.

1 use vmware converter to clone your VM with discs thin provisioned

    2. low source VM

    3. start the VM 'new' and check if it works well

    4. If 4 is OK, stop VM 'nine '.

    5. copy the new virtual machine on your USB key (set the USB you your workstation and you winscp to copy the virtual machine)

    6 remove VMFS datastore

    7. create the new VMFS datastore

8 download VM to the new data store

    9. creating the new virtual machine based on a VMDK file

    10. start the virtual machine

    see you soon

  • Creating P2V speed

We were migrating some old physical servers in the virtual world in our vsphere cluster.  These are mainly the Dell Poweredge 2650 servers.  At their peak, it was the top of the line monsters.  Now, they're slow old you know what.  So that's my problem.  I tried to P2V one of them last weekend and 4 hours, I gave up because I didn't want to be here until 04:00 in the morning.  Switches are not a problem, I managed P2V had 15 other servers with very good speed - even some of the 2650's.  It seems that RAM on the server being P2V might be a factor here, I don't know if.  With the same amount of data, it took a Poweredge 2650 with 4 GB of RAM 1 hour compared to one who had only 2 hours from 4 GB.  There is another possibility, the 4 GB has a mirror RAID compared to the 2 GB that is configured for the RAID5 - as it is the server that I gave up on.  I must also point out that whenever I used the converter bootable.

So my question is, what kinds of things a person can do to accelerate the P2V process?  Is this RAM memory in the server being P2V would help?  If so, I can fly RAM on one of the other servers quite easily.  The drive needs to be defragmented everything first?  The work of hot clone would be better cold clone?

I agree with RParker, then you will probably have to wait outside.

Decrease the size of the disc during a convert will increase the time it takes.  If you leave the same size he made a block level copy which should be faster, but maybe it's not better for your situation.

  • Limit memory to 4 GB on 32-bit VMware host?

Hi, I'm hoping to install ESXi v4 on a PowerEdge 2650 with 8 GB of memory but recently realized that it doesn't have a 64-bit processor. ESXi has the same restriction than that of windows 32 bit OS where he acknowledges no more than 8 GB of memory? Seems odd, that the server could support 12 GB memory, if nothing can use it.

I know PowerEdge 2650 is not on the official list of supported VMware ESX, but I read other messages on people who say it works.

    Thank you.

    Hello

You can install ESX3.5 and in this case, you will be able to address memory above the 4 GB traditional barrier.

You are right that this will not work for any other normal OS unless it is able to use the EAP extension.

  • ESXi 3.5 starts successfully, immediately hangs

I am able to properly install ESXi 3.5 with no problem at all. Everything starts fine and then within a few seconds to reach the screen which "& lt; F2 & gt; Customize the system", the server crashes to a GROUP. I ran that memcheck86 and who reported that there is no memory error. Here's the other info:

    ESX Server 3i 3.5 build-123629

    Dell PowerEdge 2650

    2 x Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz

    4 GB OF RAM

    Adaptec RAID 5 RAID controller

I know that the 2650 s only are not officially supported, but a buddy of mine has ESXi 3.5 running on 2 2650 s different to his house.

Anyone have any ideas?  Let me know if you need additional information. ! PSOD.jpg!

You will need to do some research. Make sure you have the latest firmware installed Dell. Use the ESXi installation CD specific Dell. Look at http://vm-help.com for anything relevant.

  • ESX 3.5 devices supported

I try to install the ESX Server 3.5 on a Dell PowerEdge 2650 Virgin without an operating system. The visual Installer gives me messages that he finds not all logical drives and he needs me to specify Adaptec AACRAID drivers (aacraid - esx30) and Ethernet Broadcom Tigon 3 (tg3). None is present on the list of available drivers. Yet, according to the compatibility guide VMWare ESX Server 3.5 online must support both. The CD goes the verification of the integrity of the disc. Any suggestions? Thank you.

    Hello

Did you create the RAIDset and a logical drive?

  • The distribution of the 6 GB SGA on linux x 86 (oracle 11 g) machine

    Dear all,

I have DELL powerEdge 2650 machine with 8 GB of physical memory & RedHat AS 4 o/s. I would like to allocate (6 GB) most of the memory to the oracle database. Can you people please guide me how SGA I choose on the machine. I tried several times to create a database with / 3GB cache buffers and 1 GB shared pool. But I make mistakes. one mistake suggests that shmmax (it was equivalent to 6 GB) is less than the size of the sga.

What are the possible reasons? If anyone can guide

Uh, rather than pursue this line of inquiry with Daniel, you need to read the link I've included in my previous answer in this thread?

    AND CAN I INSTALL Z820?

LAST Q IS R THESE CPU BY INTEL OR CLONE PARTS ORIGINAL? THANKS TO YOU ALL

Processors labeled starting with Q (for example, Qxxx) are parts of pre-production Intel, including all the ones you listed.  Production parts starts with S.  Someone trying to sell very old, unpublished parts for you.

NONE OF THEM WILL WORK IN THE Z820.  THEY WILL NOT START.  THEY ARE UNDESIRABLE.

Specifically, the QA82 is a B0 stepping.  QB7V is a CO stepping.  I don't know what a QARE, but it might be a B0 stepladder or something completely different.  None of them will start in the Z820 or any other system of HP Zx20.

Q-spec parts are never for sale, they were given only to developers and computer manufacturers.  Those you listed have been replaced by more recent pieces.  HP does not support these processors.  Look at the HP QuickSpecs for the processors that will work in the Z820.
