PPC on Yosemite?

Hello

Currently I have an iMac 24 "under Lion over a DD SSD external under Snow Leopard with old PPC software requiring Rosetta.

Everything works perfectly, I can reboot on one or the other.

I plan to spend my iMac of Lion in Yosemite (UO El Capitan), that would allow me to use most recent software or update my software.

Question of my:

Be external hard disk operational (Yosemite or El Capitan have more Rosetta will prevent my SSD PPC software to work)?

Thank you.

Hello

currently I have an iMac 24 "running on Lion more external SSD HARD drive running on Snow Leopard (with old software PPC requires Rosetta)."

Everything works perfectly, I can restart on either.

I plan to upgrade my iMac to Yosemite (El Capitan), it would allow me to use the software or update my software.

My question:

The external hard drive will be operational (Yosemite and El Capitan without Rosetta forbid my SSD PPC software to run)?

Thank you.

Yes, it will be.

If you mean Photoshop CS6, yes it is. Simply run the installation program.

If you mean Photoshop 6, none that is too old. It was made for older PPC Macs. It will not install

If you mean that Photoshop Elements 6, please see the forums of Photoshop Elements for advice on this.

  • Compatibility of CS3 with Yosemite

Hi, I have a legacy version of CS3 on my PPC iMac G5 (!) and am planing to buy a new iMac intel with the Mavericks installed and I could spend in Yosemite.

The question is, will be able to migrate my software for the new mac and I going to work! Anyone had this experience?

    Thank you.

It works on my iMac intel with the Mavericks, (at least, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, and InDesign are, I have not checked Photoshop CS3 because I have this CS5 version) but I had installed and updated all the apps at the time where I had older versions of the OS (Leopard, Snow Leopard, etc.) and when I tried to do a fresh install recently I managed to install but not apply updates from Adobe. The Adobe update will just pretend that he could not take an internet connection (even if you are connected to the internet) and does not update them. If just, you drag the most recent version on (or migrate with the migration tool when you set up the new iMac), they should work and also be 2007 applications might be, even if this isn't the ideal way to install as opposed to a clean install.

  • I have problems to restart of Yosemite, after power failure during the new backup, and now HD is also blocked.

I have problems to restart of Yosemite, after power failure during the new backup, and now HD is also blocked.

I tried the holding of 'command-r' and 'option' to see if the problem can be resolved or try any boot from a boot disk, my old backup, USB function start - but after a slow long process it all just stops.

There is software on my HD that I don't want to lose by simply reformatting the computer, because I am now in a different country, far from my house, which is another problem of the Apple Store, to reinstall my OS from Yosemite on the www.

  • My inner smartdrive dvd player won't read DVDs more.  I have updated to Snow Leopard in Yosemite.

I am currently using OS X Yosemite 10.10.5.  I bought in 2009 iMac with Snow Leopard and have to Lion then updated my current operating system.  The internal dvd player has worked with much fussing, (insert the disc - closing - turn after a wait - by pushing the drive when he jumped on reboot).  If I had the chance after a few hours, the video disc show up on my desk.  When this happened, I was opening the dvd player that was in the Finder and the disc would play. I also tried to open the dvd first player and then insert the disc.  That no longer works.  Yesterday, only it just stop working.  The reader still takes dvd and swirls and click as before but then ejects the dvd. Repeatedly stop and restart is no longer works.  I make sure that the dvd be clean before I use it and have tried many different DVDs without success.  I think it's a software issue.  Does anyone have an idea/instructions a nearly dead grandmother brain that can follow to update or redate back to original factory setting to help this poor Smartdrive not so smart?

I have no TV, only my computer and phone at low prices.  I need to watch that my library borrowed from the dvd.

    Thank you.

    Try a cleaning CD/DVD

How to clean a Superdrive DVD using a credit card!

I suspect the optical drive has failed. My 2009 Mac Mini could not shoot with same symptom 4 years ago.

To confirm a drive failure, insert a Snow Leopard installation DVD and try to start with the C key.

If this isn't the case, they drive could not be started.

I would just get an external optical drive, one powered with an AC adapter. The Superdrive Apple USB does not work without a hack.

N ° so you have a backup if something goes wrong you can return to Yosemite.

Only concern is that some devices, including USB that may require the updated drivers, but these records are not always available

  • Yosemite bootable install disc only half recognized

    Hello

I am in the process of upgrading to 10.8.5 Yosemite and created a bootable Yosemite installation on a 100 G SSD drive connected via USB.

The drive will appear under the "Startup disk" in "system settings" (sorry if these names are not quite correct because I use a Japanese version), and I can choose the drive so I guess that the disk must be blessed, but when I reboot, the Mac restarts on its built-in hard drive.

I tried to restart while pressing the option key, but this time the installation of Yosemite drive not even will appear.

Does anyone have an idea of what might happen and how do I fix?

    Thank you!

You will have to redo the external hard drive, because the operating system on it is not recognised as bootable. How did you create the disk external bootable?

  • Upgrade to El Capitan in Yosemite

I have a fairly new MacBook Pro running Yosemite. I was going to upgrade to El Capitan, but now he me Sierra offers instead. I don't want to do because of the risk that £500 dollars worth of software (File Maker Pro 11, final draft 8, Office 2011) will stop working.

My office is running El Cap, and applications above all work fine.

In my view, there is the ease of upgrade to El Cap, but he seems to be reserved for people running older versions. Do you think I can upgrade using this path? Or everything will go horribly wrong?

    Thank you

  • How can I delete all but 2015 to 2016 nigh (ios10.0.2) iPhone photos to free up space, after synchronizing all photos on my Mac (Yosemite 10.10.5)?

How can I remove all but 2015 to 2016 photos from my iPhone (ios10.0.2) for free space, after synchronizing all the photos on my mac (Yosemite 10.10.5) computer?

The fastest way I can think of would be to go to the Albums, go to all the Photos tab, highlight the photo you want to delete and press 'Select' in the upper right corner. Place your finger on the first complete line, you want to remove (if you have pictures that do not have a complete row that you want to remove these institutions, select them individually first), slide your finger on the line so that they are all selected, and then slide up so that it starts automatically at your old photos of scrolling. Once the photos you want to delete are selected, press the trash in the lower right. This will move them to your album "Recently deleted", then they will be always on your phone for 30 days, unless you remove them. If you are sure that you have already backed up these photos and does not accidentally still photos you want, feel free to remove them.

  • can I use bootcamp to Yosemite

    Hello

I don't like El Capitan and want to use Yosemite but to go back is not something I want to do while my Mac is under warranty, so could I run Yosemite with the option of bootcamp

If your computer comes with Yosemite or earlier version, you can restore your system without voiding the warranty, or use disk utility to partition the drive and install Yosemite on the volume of the vacuum. The Boot Camp Assistant is exclusively for Windows.
