  • New hard drive for compaq presario c500 running vista. I want to switch to windows 7

I'm fixing my laptop aunts. He a presario c500 compaq running windows vista. I bought a new hard drive. I would like to install windows 7. She could get windows 7 discs for free when she got off the computer, windows 7 was not yet. They have offered free windows 7 for people who bought the PC just before its release. Is it too late? I guess it's too late. Is there anyway I can get windows 7 for free? Or is there any discount for the upgrade to vista. I can't afford windows 7 discs.

In my opinion, it's too late to get a free version or price reduced from Windows 7. This offer was available about two or three years, if my memory is good.

You can Contact HP and ask.

    Best regards

  • Compaq Presario C500: Upgrade to Windows 10 Bugs

Only encountered two so far, both with workarounds, but the second question concerns a significant loss of functionality ("sleep" mode no longer works) and for which we could do with a fix:

    (i) the upgrade of Windows 10 resulted in a loss of sound, but switching to the native Windows audio driver provided a fix (see here).

(II) the number current and currently without a satisfactory solution, introduced during the recent upgrade to Windows 10 anniversary update, the laptop you wake up mode 'sleep' with a press of a key, but the keyboard stops working after that, requiring a reboot at this time. anouther user found a solution (see here) which is essentially to turn off mode 'sleep' and using hibernation instead. also while searching the Web, seems to have been a problem as far as Vista for the bit of material, the solution is to set the following check box:

Device Manager > keyboards > Standard 101/102 key or Microsoft Natural Keyboard PS/2 with HP QLB > properties > Powermanagement > allow this device to wake the computer

However, following the update of the anniversary while it is possible to set this checkbox, it is not save, go back into the dialog after setting and option is always undefined (that is a second related bug essentially, more a problem of WIndows 10 although I guess).

It would be a shame if what has been a successful computer laptop put Vista level through what is probably the most version of Windows succdessful, should gradually lose compatibility.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the problem you face is that Microsoft provides only pilots with the most basic features and what you really need for these features is the specialized drivers written for the specific in your HP PC hardware - and unfortunately, there is no driver HP Win10 for your PC. HP only guarantees the compatibility of Win10 for machines manufactured after August 2013. HP is not no matter what timetable indicating when, or IF, they will produce drivers for older machines.

You were very lucky to be able to find solutions to the problems so far, but as MS continues to be updated Win10, the situation will worsen.

This means that your PC is probably NEVER going to be fully functional under Win10 because the drivers he needs for these features simply do not exist!

Make sure not to drag the skin along any inside metal edge of the computer, this product contains components that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). I don't see a maintenance manual related to the support page for your computer laptop but not the State of the plug it uses DDR2 memory.

My recommendation would be that you can run the free analysis tool of Crucial memory and see what it reports.

I think that memory max that your model can use is 2 x 1 GB PC2-5300 (667 MHz) memory.

  • ALFA AWUS036H USB adapter referee

I have a Compaq Presario SR5610F with improved power (Antek 500 watt) and Vista 32 bit.  I bought an ALFA 802.11 b/g usb network adapter that is based on chipset Realtek RTL8187L.

That is the problem.  When I plug the adapter into the USB port (any) and load the drivers, the adapter only cycles on and outside.  Which means it appears and disappears on the computer continuously at a rate of about once per second.  If Device Manager is open, it appears and disappears under network adapters.  I tried all the drivers I can find... same result.  I even let windows choose the driver from Windows update... even.  I did a restore of the entire system (using another hard drive) back to the State nine factory... made no difference.  Tried another card, did the same thing.  Is there some kind of incompatibility with the presario and 8187 chipset?

ImaginaryKaos wrote: I could understand if one of these maps to this problem, but three of them?  Three different cards the same when plugged into a USB ports reacted.  The constant cycling on and outside.  Could they just draw too much current from the port?  They are supposed to be rated at 500ma (different from 1000mw), but who knows?

I saw a review on this device and they knew the same problem you seem to be.

"The Realtek RTL8187 Wireless 802. 11b / g 54Mbps USB 2.0 Network Adapter has malfunctioned and exceeded the power limits of its hub port. You should disconnect the device. »

  • Setup error Windows SP 1, 0xc0190036

I have a Compaq Presario C500 Windows XP and its been a while since I gave up trying to solve this problem, but if I remember correctly, in my opinion, I was installing Service Pack 1, when the computer is turned on, the screen is all black, then all these files begin to start loading and a counter begins to show to what extent the installation went. It stops immediately at:

    !! 0xc0190036! 1475/94036 (regctrl.dll)

I don't have a windows disc or I can take this form. nor can I preform a system restore because I get an error saying

the memory could not be read.

Ive ran chkdsk and all is well.

    From this moment all I see flashing is: «!» 0xc0190036! 1475/94063 (RegCtrl.dll).

Could someone please shed some light on this for me?

Be advised that I'm not this computer - repair - letter... If that makes sense...

I wonder where can I go to buy a Windows repair disc so I can solve this problem.

Or maybe a laptop for the book Dummies... (I'm kidding)

Thanks in advance and God bless...

    Hello

The Compaq Presario C500 laptop comes pre-installed with the Windows Vista operating system, so I would suggest that you check the version of the operating system installed on the computer.

To check the version of the operating system installed on the computer see link below.

What version of the operating system Windows am I running?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/help/which-version-of-the-Windows-operating-system-am-i-running

  • license Windows vista problem

I have a computer compaq presario c500 laptop comes with windows vista. The operating system was already installed, so it did not come with an installation cd. I had hard drive problems and the service formatted the drive, so I can't use the factoy reset feature that I've done before. I have here some way that I could download a windows vista disc and use the license I got with my windows?

    Hello

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do it for a small fee

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '

Hi, I want to improve my HP540 with 4 GB of RAM and windows 7. Is this feasible?
Secondly, I want to buy the battery for her, as his does not work. Where to buy? any suggestions?

Yes, but they fix computers not sell parts. eBay India is actually a good source.

It is a 'real' battery HP manufactured and shipped from the India brand:

The battery is "Compatible" with a little less money. They are perfect for older laptops:
