Preserve black when exporting InDesign to PDF

Hi all:

I hope someone who knows that acrobat can help me with this. I have an InDesign file I have to export to PDF. That in itself is not the problem. It is:

The text in InDesign is black Uni (000000), but once it exports to PDF, it collects a myriad of colours and do not print preperly for newsprint. I do this for a newspaper. I use InDesign, they use Quark. The client using InDesign as well. I can't how to convince Acrobat to let the color alone.

I tried to understand it with the ink Manager, etc., but for the life of me, no matter what I do, it comes out as all the colors of the Rainbow. It LOOKS black in the PDF, but when you select, it is NOT black. It's a mess. Two full pages of this stuff and I have to redo the darn thing together in Quark, unless I can understand that.

I tried to use "Preserve Black" once it is in PDF format, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Obviously, I'm missing something in the export of InDesign feature, but I can't understand that.

Can someone help me?

Thank you, in advance.

No this is what you must do to [Black] text. I had feared that the text could have been imported and used a different black shade that has been defined as RGG (I've seen this with some files that come in the office). You would see the second swatch in the swatches Panel and it would have an icon RGB (three bands). In this case you would remove the shade and would encourage the IDS for a replacement, for which you would choose [Black].

  • Background missing when exporting indesign to PDF

Sometimes, when I export a file from indesign to PDF, my background does not appear. The background is just a block of solid color or gradient. The background color block is usually the size of the page. I tried to play to see what is the cause for this and sometimes if I reduce the size of the block to say, 1/3 of the page then the color block appears, but then when I do the size of the page that I actually need it to be, the color block does not appear when I export it in pdf format (I tried all the presets different pdf and it's not a difference)?  Anyone know why and how to remedy?

    Thank you!

Check your Acrobat preferences: Edit > Preferences, then click on accessibility and make sure "Replace Document colors" is NOT checked.

    Hey Willi,

Sorry I'm new to this. Here are the answers to your questions and I hope you can give some tips.

    1 OSX 10.9.2

2 indesign CC2014 (I just started to use during the last two weeks)

3 illustrator CS3 (files that have been given to me, have been created to CS6), I made a few changes to fonts that in CS3 before I had CC bought, but I tried one of the files transferred directly into CC instead of CS3 back and he still has the same problem.

    4. the file I linked IS an eps, I always do an eps because with all my files I leave the fonts in the file have and save a second file, the eps where I saw all the fonts to save all of the possible problems of fonts. But you think that I shouldn't do this?

    5. you can see the lines in Indesign only when high-quality screen, they do not seem to remain in the same position, but at 100% and 200%, they are quite noticeable while 600% zoom, they become less bright. These are dotted lines, they appear differently in each different photograph. I'm not export in PDF, a jpeg file because its for on a Web site. If the lines are perceptible in the jpeg format. I just tried a pdf and they are also in the pdf file. We did not think that what was happening only to images, but in a single file where there is a shadow on the text, he did boxing odd sam-lines around the text.

9 seem to stay the same size. You don't see them at all in illustrator eps files.

    10. I can't talk about it. How would know that? Where is that located setting? Thank you

    11. I don't know how to look for color mode - modes are that indesign CC is in CMYK mode. Illustrator CMYK. But when I export as a jpeg I change into RGB in the export process. How can I find the color space? I'm not very technical minded. I'm sorry. That's why I freak out when I get questions like this. I thank very you much for trying to help me.

  • Problem when exporting InDesign file in interactive PDF format...

Hello, I am trying to export my file InDesign CC single page PDF interactive. This file contains a .swf file & a single Mp4 video file, a text, a background image. When I export to interactive PDF, I get this message « one or more interactive elements are cut in a way that cannot reproduce the files PDF.» These elements will be adjusted in the exported PDF file '.» If I save the file without taking into account this message, in my final PDF everything works except one thing, I'm losing the video controls. What should I do to get these video controls appear?

    Your help is very appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

    Savita-

Do you have video controls on the Panel of the media? Do you have the video preview in the Panel of the media? Notice in the Preview SWF? He saw in the preview of interactivity EPUB (if you have InDesign CC 2014)?

  • Text boxes do not appear when exported to interactive PDF

I am working on a form of several page that uses 10% gray boxes to indicate the places where people can enter their answers. I made sure all the boxes are checked as "Printable" whereas they should appear when I export to interactive PDF and print. However, when I export to interactive PDF, some mailboxes displayed. I tried save the file as a .idml, opening and export from there, but some original boxes appear and new boxes are not displayed. Anyone know how I can get all the boxes to show?

Figured it out! All the text boxes need to have a different label. For example, you can't text boxes on pages that carry the two NOTES.

  • Keep the multiple page layout when exporting as a PDF

I created a presentation of several page, I would like to export them to PDF while keeping several page display so that the customer can easily understand how it will look. It currently exports to single pages rather than the 3 beautiful spread I created the page.

It seems in fact that there is no need to be created as facing pages, as long as you have the doc configured not to mix and you drag the pages together into a single unit. Check the "Spreads" box in the export dialog box.

  • Fuzzy / blurry fonts in pdf format when export indesign

    Hi all

I did a lot of research / reading via the internet (and forum) but I still cannot find a solution to this:

-J' I saved my (drawings, texts, graphics) pdfs in illustrator.

    -J' have 'place' in Indesign.

-In indesign, I click on 'Export', "adobe pdf (print)", "high quality print".

Result: the texts on the embedded PDF files are blurred. I used 2 fonts - one is fine and can be changed in the exported pdf file (garamond);  'arial' looks pixelated & fuzzy.

    What I tried:

-J' tried exporting as long as 'settings pdf X 1 a 2001' as it is mentioned that it is good for printing.

-J' tried clicking on "do not downsample" in "all compression.

-J' checked also "find the police", to see if the 'arial' is true fonts. This is the case.

What can I do else? Please advise. Thank you in advance.

    Adobe cs5

Not the way to do it.

In Illustrator just do a file > save and save I.

Which place in InDesign and you should be all set.

  • image quality emf export indesign file to PDF

In my business, I prepare pdf reports. PDF files include graphics generated in excel.

    the process I use is:

make charts in excel-> export graphics to the emf format in the specific folder (as emf is done with macro vba to export)-> link EMF to indesign-> export indesign as pdf (print)

I am trying to implement a type of graph that includes transparency (in the specific case, a histogram with transparent colors, highlight a specific area of the graph).

EMF are exported "correctly", as can be seen in the fixed samples

the problem arises in indesign, when I export the indesign file to PDF (see final results):

-J' I used to use compatibility Acrobat 4 (PDF 1.3), which - for what I understand - does not recognize transparency and causes the diagrams to export with transparency to 100%

-If I use greater compatibility (Acrobat 5 or higher), transparency is exported correctly but all the tables and "fuzzy" exported graphics (or maybe a little too intense). The effect is not considered at higher zooms - but it is important to me as graphics look OK at all zooms because report is sent to customers with initial view as full page.

using another format that emf is not a viable option. What can be a solution in this situation? I would like to understand what is the type of adjustment of export should I use to get a clean exit.

in case the problem is known, I would like if you can please redirect me to correct the discussion.

    Thank you.

You can post screenshots or link to files in a dropbox folder. That said, you are using an inherently low high-end, imprecise graphical format and is awaiting the results of high-end. There are tradeoffs here.

The best advice I can give you without you actually hire me to go through your workflow, is to stick with solid colors and make sure your transparency blend space in InDesign are defined in RGB if these documents will be viewed on screen only.

  • Nonprinting buttons appearing in the wrong order when you export to interactive PDF!

I am a customizable holiday gift certificate creating generic view on our website for download. I create using InDesign CS6. The idea is that the interactive PDF can be opened in the reader, one of the six charts of certificate can be selected (via the radial buttons that hide/show graphics that have been converted into buttons), and various text fields can be filled in. Then, the certificate can be printed and cropped. I have all the interactive elements, works very well, including the "print" key. The interactive PDF looks like this:

    Waste_Free_Certificates_correct.jpg

However, when printing, I would ONLY the certificates and the fields of text to print and not the instructions, header, or radial buttons selection certificate or full color, background. The point of this is so that the user doesn't lose the ink. I want to print like this:

    Waste_Free_Certificates_printed.jpg

At first I tried to make nonprinting objects, but which also shows them not when exported to interactive PDF. I then tried the same thing by putting on another layer and uncheck "print layer" (but check "show layer"), but I came across the same result. After searching the forums, I discovered that the only way to make these nonprinting elements, yet still visible in the interactive PDF, is to convert each object to a button and then uncheck the "Printable" box in the window buttons and forms. I did, and now everything seems to work fine...

Except that when you export, export buttons in order of stacking poorly, like this:

    Waste_Free_Certificates_wrong.jpg

This color background continues to go on in front of all the rest. Even if I put it on it's very own layer under layer with all other charts (converted to buttons) on this subject, he always appears in front of all the other buttons. It is the same whether or not I have check the box create Acrobat layers. What the devil I'm doing wrong?

  • Fontissue when exporting PDF CS5

Comment by thread bound and advised to start the new band of rolling.

    http://forums.Adobe.com/thread/651071?TSTART=0

When exporting in format PDF of CS5 ID I saw do move and disappear.

Did tests since my post on linked tread and discover, with PDF / X_1a:2001 (PDF version 1.3), it works fine. But when I use PDF version 1.4 and above fonts randomly disappears. See first photo below.

OK, for me it's just going to print, but with 1.3 we lose the link hyperlink and bookmarks if used in other media.

Have seen policies to move when exporting to PDF, (second photo), and in this case, there is no way of doing things with the options mentioned above. Only way is he right was to outline the police... and PS - Distiller has worked as well.

I've found my workaround, but I would really trust the export as a PDF in the future is the way Adobe advice we used.

Workaround solution 1. Use PDF 1.3 version

    Solution 2.

(The application folder), Adobe Indesign CS5 - Presets

Create a new folder - PPDs

Put (ADPDF8. PPD or ADPDF9. PPD) in this folder. (I had a backup of these files, can not find them online...!)

Allows to print PS of InDesign and use Distiller.

    Mac - 10.6.X - ID int. English

    AAME_ID.jpg

    AUS.jpg

OK, I have reproduced the two issues and connected bug reports for them to be the subject of an investigation. I don't think that they are associated with other issues that have been discussed on the previous thread. They are two specific fonts, change the text to use another font makes problems disappear. So there is a chance that the fonts have some problems that make them sensitive to the problems. Debugging the development team should tell us more. Thanks for your help with this.

  • Why a difference between the quality of the image in InDesign and PDF output

Comparing the output pdf of CS5 of our book with the version ID. The images are MUCH clearer and the colors are best when display us a page inside ID side by side with the PDF. The pictures actually blurred in the PDF, even though we are out at 600 dpi. When export us to PDF in cs6, clarity is much better but the color is a little off. Is this normal?

The X-1 a-exporter of CS5 looks a lot better than normal and production better than the output of the CS6. What would cause that?

If you export a PDF CMYK with no profile and open in AcrobatPro, workspace CMYK Acrobat color management manages the preview. So here is the difference between two very different profiles coated Fogra and newsprint WINK:

When you export PDF/X-1 has an output intent profile is included (usually your document CMYK profile) and is used in Acrobat to preview CMYK rather than current CMYK working space.

  • Only black color on the linked indesign files conversion 4 black color process when exporting to PDF?

I have a paged presentation that contains multiple indesign files linked. They have two colors: black to 100% and a spot color. If I export the files related, using the same PDF preset, the colors are kept, but when exporting from layout with them tied it converts black in 4 colors. I checked the separations on the layout file but they are all very good. It's just a bug or am I doing something stupid?

What happens when you color manage CMYK to another space CMYK, try using PDF X / 1 setting first and make sure that preserve numbers is set for the release, let us know how it goes.

  • Please help - SHADOWS APPEAR as OUTLINES BLACKS when I EXPORT to PDF

    Hi all

I designed a catalogue produced in InDesign. I've airbrushed in PS and dropped an "outer glow" and "shadow" Style layer on products and saved with a transparent background in one. PSD format. The files are then placed in the InDesign document.

The pages are printed as they appear when I print from InDesign, however, I wish I could send this document to retailers, but when I export as a PDF, images with shadows appear as if they are drawn with a sloppy/irregular black line instead of the shadow...

    Please help me solve.

Would it be due to compression?

    Thoughts? Alternatives?

    Thank you very much
