Presidio of Compaq CQ60 - 615DX: Craigslist computer password wrong

Me and my wife bought a laptop off Craigslist the other day, and we can't even on this because there is a power on password of bios that disables us to do anything whatsoever, without the password, if we put the password 3 times it says system off and gives us the 63014991 code. If someone knows a master reset method or code it would be highly appreciated we paid 350 dollars for a useless laptop so far.

  • Compaq CQ60-615DX turning on problems

My friend bought Compaq CQ-615DX in February and has problems where she turns off the computer and then the laptop does not start again. This occurs regardless of whether the computer is plugged into the charger or not. Best Buy has been able to fix temporarily out of the battery and then restarting it, but it seems that the problem persists.

I searched on the internet and it seems that other people have a similar problem. They describe it differently in each case (for example is not power up, does not at all load and won't turn on, won't wake from sleep), but the end result is that the computer doesn't turn on.

Any ideas what could be causing this and if HP/Compaq is aware of this and if there is a fix.

Hi rzamishka, could you describe more in detail what is happening:

    (a.) flashing lights

    (b) gets to the Windows screen, HP sreen, blue screen.

If it does not start, there could be blink codes that will tell you what the problem is. go here for explanation.

In the meantime, try this first standard fix:

battery and power cord 1 / removal

2 - Press the power button for 20 seconds

3 reinstall the battery and power cord

    4. turn on

If please reply and let us know your progress.

  • upgrading Ram on the CQ60-615DX Notebook

I'm having a hard time after watching more of RAM here for my laptop, so I can switch from Windows 7 to Windows 8! I don't know about the total memory that I can add to my laptop!

Here are the specifications of your laptop Compaq Presario CQ60-615DX. According to the specification, this model came with 2 GB of RAM and supports up to 4 GB of RAM. Please see Crucial.com for compatible memory for your computer. Is 200-pin SODIMM memory / PC2-5300 / DDR2-667 / 1.8V although PC2-6400 / DDR2-800 should also work.

  • Same product key of Windows7 on different computers mobile, CQ56-219WM and CQ60-615DX. Is this true?

I bought two laptops Compaq Presario used, a CQ60-615DX CQ56-219WM.  I used the ProductKey software to get the product key of Windows7 Home Premium for each machine.  The keys for the two machines were the same.  Is this good?  Can I depend on these keys, if I load Windows7 as part of a recovery for each machine?

Paul_Tikkanenanswer is correct, because you can not use the HP OEM SLP keys that you retrieved from the computer to activate Windows under normal conditions. As Paul says, you can use the Windows product key, which is printed on the Microsoft COA affixed to the computer to activate Windows.

However, there is another method that can be used to activate computers using the same HP OEM SLP key. This method requires the recovery of the HP OEM SLP key and HP OEM SLP certificate that was installed at the factory on the computers. The computer BIOS must also contain a table with HP OEM SLIC for the pre-activation works correctly. Please see HP Forum post "How to install Windows 7 without the disc" for more detials.

    Qoute;

«1 b) using a locator key, however, is useful only if the product key of Windows 7 was printed on the label affixed to your PC, on the documentation that came with your PC, or sent by e-mail from Microsoft (Microsoft Certificate of authenticity).» Assuming that your computer came among computer makers of big brand... HP, Sony, Dell, Gateway, etc... as do more, it uses an OEM SLP of generic key "massive activation". Try to use this key by itself is not going to work. This OEM SLP key should be used with an OEM SLP certificate and an OEM BIOS with a good table SLIC.

1 c) here's where ABR Beta with Windows 7 Support comes to the rescue. Follow the section 'How to use' ABR for Windows Vista for information and instructions on how to use ABR the steps listed for Vista as well apply to Windows 7. Run the backup 'activation' for 'backup' and record the OEM SLP key and the OEM SLP certificate. Save all of the ABR folder to an external location for later use. This will allow you to preactivate your installation of Windows 7 'clean' on the computer that you pulled the key and the certificate of. »

  • Photo cd does not appear on Presario CQ60-615DX

My daughter put 100 pictures of our trip on a cd at Walgreens.  When I put in my computer, nothing happens.

I also put a music cd and it does not play.  I am using windows 7 on my Presario CQ60-615DX.  Thank you.

    Hello

First of all, to eject the drawer and gently clean the small lens with a soft material such as cotton.

Once done, check if there is no change when you insert a disc.

Otherwise, click on the start menu, type AutoPlay , and press ENTER.  Scroll to the bottom of this window and then click on the button "reset all default settings.  When you're finished, restart the computer and check if the drive recognize a disc.

If she is not always recognize a disk, download and run Microsoft 'Fixit' at the following link.

  • Battery of load/don't dump on Compaq CQ60

    Hi all

I bought a Compaq CQ60 laptop a little over 2 weeks ago to use as an individual. I have a job on my laptop that I need and I need my laptop on a daily basis at the present time.

I used my laptop almost every day and this problem arose yesterday.

The battery meter on the statements of the taskbar that the battery is 100% (fully charged) constantly and does not update to display the battery discharges. Accordingly, the battery reached the void and the computer dies with a single click. No sleep mode, without recovery, just died. Losing them all work due to the lack of a saved state.

Obviously, the auto sleep function is controlled by Vista saying the PC to do so based on the % of remaining battery life. Given that the battery indicator is not kept up-to-date, the battery completely drains and dies of the laptop. To run the laptop more than 15 minutes, the only way is to plug it into the mains supply.

Can somoene if you please help me? System Restore seems to fail on each rear roll so it's out of the question. I've just updated the BIOS to the latest version, again no no is made.

    Kind regards

    Gas

    Thanks for the responses guys.

The issue seems to have resolved, but I also take your advice.

Battery check: this at first indicated that the battery was not, then quickly found a status of 'good '. I ran the check again, and it's a 'Good' result instantly. I'm not sure about the State of the battery now due to the initial failure, but must provide a reminder to check the status of thr on a weekly or monthly basis for awhile.

Possible resolution: I had uninstalled battery method control ACP compatible MIcrosoft Vista, update the BIOS on the HP site and restarted. I then installed all updates from Microsoft and this morning the battery is 68% and evacuates well. I will continue to run the batteru at 25% and then 100%.

Again, thank you for your advice on that. I have will certainly keep my eye on this and will post more information in this thread to someone else in the future who might suffer from a similar problem.

    Thank you

  • No sound no issue on 64 bit versions of Windows 8 - Compaq CQ60 - 140EV

    Hello guys!

I have the following problem after installation of 64-bit Windows 8:

Independent of the version - home page, pro or business, on my Compaq CQ60 - 140EV speakers produce no sound, not even on the external speaker no sound. In Device Manager, everything seems to be ok. With all versions 32 bit Windows-8 or with previews of 64-bit version of W8-developer preview, overview of consumer sound etc work correctly. But with any details of Windows 8: home, pro or business there is no noise.

    I tried the following:

Reinstall windows via USB, DVD - same issue, the installation drive in mode-same WIN7 compatibility question, installation driver followed problem update-even Microsoft, installation driver on the system to dual-boot (WIN8 and WIN7) - the computer find drive WIN7 and installed, but once again no sound. All other functions work fine except the sound. And the odd point is that the sound does not work only on the 64-bit version and only in the final version.

Can you help me please to solve this problem?

    Thank you very much!

  • Compaq CQ60 tired?

Hi all, I have a compaq CQ60 who starts, the fan turns on, the power light Trackpad light and turns on a wi - fi connection and all, nothing on the screen and no the all HARD disk activity.

I tried the usual, hard reset, without HARD drive, No Ram, CDR and still nothing

I tried the Ram and the HARD drive in my other PC, and both work well

Tried the Ram and the HARD of PC drive and others in the CQ60 and still the same, nothing on the screen and no disc HARD activity or flashing caps lock Num or Num Lock lights

I'm almost 100% sure that it is the motherboard? Is that what look like a fair assessment

Thanks for any advice on this matter, regards. Mark
