I have 3 computers to windows 7 that all exhibit this same problem.

I have playlists since older versions of media center and when I play a video playlist with the previous buttons and next player will be disabled. If the playlist has audio files it next and previous buttons work fine.

It has always worked in other versions I know that it is a feature I use all the time so I would have noticed

This probably means that your media library has been corrupted, so you have to reset it. Note firstly reset the library will make you lose all play counts and ratings too. Then, follow these steps:

    -Restart the PC.

-Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service . If its status is started , double-click the service, and then click stop .
-Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
-In this folder, rename the folder Media Player as Old Media Player . If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
-Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the problem persists. Tim Baets

  • my media player always stops when I play video or movies

My media player always stops when I play video or movies

While your it resources play a role in the way that online videos are displayed, the speed of your internet plays the biggest part. The reason is that your internet connection must first download the video before it can be displayed. This is referred to as "Buffering".

Then, the server of the host, which is the source of the video, also plays an important role in how the video is displayed as well. Some servers have a higher bandwidth which allows better/more fast streaming.

However, there are some things you can do to try to increase performance. First is to make sure that your computer is not infected by malicious software. For this, I recommend a quick scan with Malwarebytesupdate.

Next is to clean up the system of temporary files and other objects that can slow performance. Read the article HERE to see how to improve the overall performance of your computer.

Original title: Windows Media Player Incompatible with WLM 9.0 Beta.

I have Windows Vista 64-bit Home Premium edition.  The technicians at Windows Live Messenger helped me to uninstall the old version of WLM and install WLM 9.0 Beta.  While I was following the instructions to uninstall the old version of WLM, Windows Media Player has stopped opening to allow me to post videos of my Yahoo! groups sites. I restarted the computer, etc., but nothing works.  I ended up following their instructions and installed WLM 9.0 Beta and told him about the problem they have caused. They said he was out of their hands and that I should come here for help because they treat only the difficulties installation and uninstall with WLM.  What should I do?

Thanks for all your help, but my problem no longer exists.  Yahoo! groups or individual groups sites which I am Member changed their 'program '.  No matter how I click on a video, the only option I have now must first download it to my computer, where it plays fine on Windows Media Player.  Thanks again.

  • Windows media player11.error windows media player cannot play dittos theplayer might not support the file type or might not support the codec used to compress the file

    • y at - it software that could help me.which will work with my Media Player to convert almost any format or find the good codec.so I can watch my videos, I have downloaded on my documents.there need some software out there that would do this work.so my media player 11 play my videos.

    Hi Bbdunford,

O what is the file format?

O if it works well before?

Today, there are hundreds of audio and video codecs in use. Some were created by Microsoft, but the vast majority of codecs have been created by other companies, organizations or individuals. By default, the Windows operating system and the player includes a number of the most popular codecs, such as MP3, Windows Media Audio and Windows Media Video.

There might be times, however, when you want to read the content that is compressed with a codec that does not include Windows or the default player. In many cases, you can download the necessary codec on the web for free or for a fee. And, in some cases, the player can automatically use the codecs installed by other reading programs and the creation of digital media on your computer.

You may encounter this error message for the following reasons:

    1. the file type is supported by the drive, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the player.

2 - the file might have been encoded with a codec that is not supported by Windows Media Player. If this is the case, Windows Media Player cannot play the file.

You can try the steps and check if it makes a difference.

    1. in order to determine what codec was used with a specific file, play the file in the player, if possible. When the file is playing, right-click the file in the library, and then click Properties. On the file tab, look at the sections of video codec and Audio codec.

2 download and install Codecs by clicking on the PLAYER tab and check. To connect to the Internet and automatically download Codecs player

    3. configure the protocol settings

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Network tab.

In the Streaming protocols area, select all the check boxes Protocol.

When connecting to a server running Windows Media Services, Windows Media Player tries to use all selected protocols.

  • Receive the message error "Windows Media Player cannot extract one or more tracks from the CD"

Original title: Windows Media Player 12 in Windows 8 - will not tear, will not allow rip parameter changes

Recently started Windows Media Player displays this error message when I tried to rip CDs: "Windows Media Player cannot extract one or more tracks from the CD." When I checked the rip settings, I found that no location has been chosen, even if I had chosen a location when I first set up WMP over a year ago. When I clicked on the "Change location" button, nothing happened, so I'm not able to choose a file location. I downloaded and Fix It (http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows-media-player-diagnostic-Windows-8/en-us) from Microsoft allows WMP and the library, hoping this would solve the problem, but the problem persists. After that, I also found that none of the rip settings can be changed, not only the location of the file. I get an error message that "ripping settings could not be applied" when I try to change anything on the tab music Rip under Options. I found a support of forum responses that mention a registry fix but does not provide any details on how to achieve this. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

Were there any changes (hardware or software) to the computer before the show?

Ripping allows you to put the titles of your audio CD on your PC. When you rip the tracks, they become digital files on your PC.

There are two places in the Player library where you can customize your settings and better to make ripping work:

    • In the Rip settings menu (with less choice customization).

    • In the Options dialog box (with several choices of customization).

Method 1: run the tool library, Windows Media Player and Windows Media Player settings and check if the extraction is possible.

    Step 1:

a: press the logo Windows + O to open the search box.
    b: Type Troubleshooting, press ENTER.

    c: now, click on programs.

d: and then click Windows Media Player  library.

    Step 2:

a: press the logo Windows + O to open the search box.
