  Recently, I thought that I had a hack in my account, so I changed my e-mail address and password. I thought this would be my main address, but whenever I have send an email that I have to change the address of my alias. Is it possible to change the address, and the password of the original to the alias and if so, how? This change will save all my contacts? Thanking you in advance.

  I now use hotmail as my email provider. I was told that I have to close the account and reopen with new address and password. That being said, how do I save my contacts list?

  Go to tools | Accounts in OE, if you use OE and you can set the default email account there.  Alternatively, you can delete the account again if you wish.

  For many years, I use 2 accounts POP from Verizon.   I am now looking to switch to a provider that I can use with the Mail of Apple Mac program that would be IMAP.

  Yes, you can set up as iCloud (or other types of) e-mail accounts as you want. When you open the app on Mac Mail, click mail accounts in the menu bar.
