printer 6540

Hi I have a problem with my printer HP 6540.

I connected it to my Mac OS X (Leopard system) computer and everything seems to work alright.

I tried to recognize the printer from the mac

and that's where a window appears saying that "there was an error trying to add the printer to the computer.

Can someone help me solve my problem.

Thank you very much

Enrico

First, make a software update from the Apple (top left of your screen) menu.  Do it until there are no updates.

Then, reset the printing system:

-Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
-Right (control) click inside the box that lists your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - This will remove ALL your printers!
-Select the sign + to add again. Search for the printer, select it, and wait until the button 'Add' becomes available. Until it clicks.

If that fixed it, install the 10.5.8 Combo updater here.

  • Deskjet 6540 Fast print quality loses chutes

I am running Windows 8.1 64-bit. I've owned this printer HP Deskjet 6540 for a long time now, so part of me wondered if I should just buy a new printer. However, it works great except for this last issue. In the last few weeks, I started to notice that when I print in draft mode, normal, or fast, the text at the bottom of paragraphs or the end of a page is cut off, wasting the descenders on letters on this line. All retired with hp print and scan doctor. Pilots seem to, etc. If I print in "best" mode, it works fine, with no clipping. He is a recent problem. Any ideas?

The issue you describe could be caused by an electrical problem between the printer and the cartridge.   I suggest you clean the contacts of the cartridge and printer as shown in the document here.

  • Printer Deskjet 6540 - no light showing

Printer does not work.  All the LIGHTS are OFF but the power cord is connected.  Printer was working fine but do not turn on in the morning when we turned on eveything.

    Hello happycycler,

I'm sorry to hear that your Deskjet 6540 will power not on.

I suggest to reset your printerplug directly into the wall, avoiding bars, surge protectors, etc.

You can also try a different wall jack and another power cord if you have another one that is available.

    I hope this helps.

  • DeskJet 6540 + Win7 64 bit: time to throw this printer away?

Thanks HP for no more Toolbox. Having just installed one of your dear #97 cartridges, both cartridges are clearly NOT aligned, this text is blurred. Of course, I'd love to align the cartridges but on my new office (made, ironically, by HP), there is no way to do it.

This forum dear colleagues, I am simply out of luck?

    Thanks for any help.

Good news. With the connected to old Dell XP 6540, I was able to do a manual cartridge alignment. Now my PDF sample prints with good quality (not obvious blur or ghost), on old and new PCs.

And say that I was planning to get rid of the old machine... not so fast

  • DeskJet 6540 is more updated print driver?

    I have a deskjet 6540

connected via USB to my mac OS 10.5.8

If I try to print a .pdf file or a word or excel document type the printer seems to be the treatment but nothing ever happens.

If I try to print from a browser window, the application will freeze.

I did not express a software upgrade, but I guess something must have updated and created this problem since before yesterday he had never taken place.

I tried power off, restart the computer & printer, uninstall & reinstall the printer, try the other USB cable and different USB ports.

I appreciate any suggestions on what I can try next.  I tried looking for an update of the pilot, but could not find anything.

  • How to find the number of pages printed on a HP Deskjet 6540?

I use a Mac, but I could also connect the printer to a PC if necessary.

    Hello mobiley,.

A test page must be printed in order to know 'Total printed Pages'.

Perform the procedure on the printer below...

Press on and power, press Cancel, output power

See series No. 21 'PG', which gives the value of the number of pages.

    Kind regards

  • DeskJet 6540 prints slowly

Since a computer desktop and laptop, each running Windows 7 at home, the printer suddenly became very slow.  As a passage of the head every 15 to 30 seconds.  Follow-up of all the guides, I have found, through a complete reboot and try different USB ports.  Print test page, it says error code: 05F37C2B.

This is caused by the failure of one of your cartridges.  Remove the black print cartridge and print a test page.  The printer prints at a normal speed?  Is therefore the black cartridge was the issue and needs to be replaced.  If it isn't then, put the black back cartridge in and remove the color cartridge and the test page printed.  If the printer now prints speed the color cartridge is responsible and must be replaced.

  • Support for 64-bit driver for Windows 7 for Deskjet 6540 and Colorsmart D5360

Or 64-bit Windows 7 drivers for the Deskjet 6540 nor the Photosmart 5360 supports the maintenance function is now impossible to clean the print heads. Two of these printers worked fine when they were connected to my XP machine. At HP dumbed down these drivers? Is there a separate program or sequence of façade which will do that for one of these printers?

    Thank you

I do not know the D5630, but for the Deskjet 6540 you can do a cycle of cleaning of the façade, as follows: turn on the printer.  Press in and hold the power button, then press the Cancel (X) button twice, then release the power button.

Note that it rare to * never * need to perform a cleaning on the HP cartridges cycle, it would be unusual to the same need forced into the life of the cleaning cartridge.  Perform unnecessary cleaning cycles will use ink and shorten the life of the printer.

  • HP 6540 driver for Windows 7 64 bit?

I just bought a HP with Windows 7, 64-bit s5657.  My printer HP 6540 does not install correctly.  "Printers and.
Devices' shows he needs troubleshooting.  This shows that the driver is missing.  Reinstall the printer with the HP disk does not better - still no driver. (I use the USB connections).

HP.com brings me to a driver, but when I try to download, it tells me "you don't need to download anything, Win 7 has all the drivers, that he needs."  HP.com then said to unplug the printer, reboot, and 'add a new printer '.  The list of drivers HP does not show 6540 or 6500 series.

Is - this really incompatible, it is a conflict of 32/64-bit?  Is there a 64-bit driver that I can download?  What's next?

  • Ned for Deskjet 6540 installation CD

Bought a laptop without CD-ROM and plugged into my HP Deskjet 6540.  Charge Windows drivers correctly.

However, to access wireless, I need apparently information from the installation CD I can not use on this laptop.

I didn't need the drivers, but the information to establish a wireless connection.  Can anyone guide me through the work wireless, or give a link where I can download the information from the installation CD?

    Thank you for your time.

    Hello

A full Driver & Software functionality is not available for Windows 7, so a CD will not apply.

The HP Deskjet 6540 includes not wireless by default, only an optional wireless print server, according to the list of characteristics below:

    http://www.shopping.HP.com/shopping/PDF/c8963a.PDF

To get a better understanding of possible measures, you have such a server to external printing for your printer? We have used you printer wireless in the past?

If so, do you have the HP Jetdirect ew2400 or HP Jetdirect 380 x wireless print server?
