Problem: Acrobat DC: Windows Explorer: right-click right/convert to...: "..." problem sending the command... »

Is anyone having problems using Windows Explorer to 2015 of TCS in the process of a PDF file?

I use TC 2015 on a box of Win 7 64 bit with 32 GB of RAM.

My workflow includes the use of shortcuts in Windows Explorer to create the FM files from PDF files / or "Convert to Adobe PDF" or "convert to Adobe PDF and send".

Use either of these commands in Windows Explorer results in the error "There was a problem sends the command to the program", "program" being apparently two FrameMaker 2015 and/or DC Acrobat (or Adobe PDF/Adobe Acrobat Distiller DC).

FrameMaker begins as it should, and the file is loaded as it should, but apparently when FM called Acrobat, it cannot start as it should.

I am a week off for a critical period of an internal workflow document discussing this exact feature.

If anyone knows the answer, it would be of GREAT interest to me...

Thank you!

I have confirmed (by test test facilities) that this feature is broken. I will record a bug this morning.

  • Windows Explorer - right column to automatically display the left folder?

Simple question for Windows Explorer: is it possible for Win7 64 bit to display in the column on the right immediately which is highlighted in the left column?  (Like most of the any Manager files on the planet!)  I guess they try to minimize the work that the program does stuff that shows only the user didn't need.  When the user arrives at its destination they press enter or space to display the content.  I understand your point and minimize the workload for the program.  Stupid of course in real life, is not an option.  As usual, Microsoft, like most software companies think people want to think for them.  Not the case.  Unless of course I missed the 'show content immediately' option somewhere.  Its got to a point where you cannot assume a sense of almost any software company.  They all try to think for you, you Lasso in their way of doing things.  Guess it helps in the Department of bugs, but makes for very unhappy and frustrated users.  Or if you are a fool, do you think that the system is perfect, because it assumes that all your decisions for you.  Society is reflected in many ways in the design of software.  Doesn't look like good people.  People seem to become lazier and lazier or they become busier and busier and can not do even the simplest decisions.

He agreed with the request of the customer.  Visitors don't like the record, in that they were to change until they had highlighted that they really wanted to enter.  It was particularly embarrassing when put customers highlight a network location that takes several minutes to connect or charge (heaven help you if this was a corporate backup tape location).    It was also a common complaint that it was incompatible (derivative of something is not supposed to cause an action occurs in a part any system: only by clicking or by selecting with button enter should).

Changes based on direct feedback from customers on Windows 7, this is what makes Windows 7 "designed by the people."  If you don't like the decisions, please provide your feedback so that your thoughts can be heard in the development of future versions.

  • Error Msg: "there was a problem sending the command to the program" when you use a shortcut for FireFox

This only happens when I use a shortcut to call Firefox. I am running Windows 7 Professional. The Firefox window opens after the error message occurs, so I would class this as a gene.
Many help comments mention 'ddeexec' removal of Firefox registry entries. It worked for a while (it seems to be related to updates of Firefox), but now no longer works: ddeexec is removed, but the error message persists.

I found a fix for Win 7 (x 64) based on two observations:

    1. the waiting period does not exist if Firefox is already running.

    2. There are (at least) two types of shortcuts: Application and URL. When Firefox is the default browser, shortened URL get a timeout message. A the application shortcut to Firefox works without any problem.

Follow these three steps to create a new shortcut that runs Firefox with the URL as a command:

    1. create a shortcut to the Application either by copying an existing shortcut, or right-click on the desktop, select new | Contextual and choose the location of Firefox.exe.

    2. then right click to open the new shortcut, properties. On the shortcut tab, you will find:

    Target: "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox\Firefox.exe.

    Start in: "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox".

    3. copy the URL address, type a space after the quotation marks of the target and paste that URL, it should look like this:

    Target: "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla ' http://postini.com

I used a short URL to this example to fit on a single line, but the useful commands can be much longer; for example:

    https://login.Postini.com/exec/[email protected]

The second example opens a connection to Postini spam filter window and between your email for you. Below is a screenshot of a tab popup properties shows in the middle of the target where Firefox ends the line, and the URL starts.

  • How to add items to the Windows Explorer right-click menu drop-down?

Sometimes it would be nice to be able to add a shortcut to a program that shows when you right click on a file in Windows Explorer.  Is it possible manually?  And can we remove others that we never use as well by the same method?

You can, to a limited extent.  And it's the registry changes, so I would recommend caution.  There are also a few small programs that change the menu.

    http://vlaurie.com/right-click/Customize-context-menu.html

A simple way, I used is to create shortcuts custom in the SendTo context menu folder.  With which you can perform most any function, such as send a text file to open with MS Word or send any type of image to open it with any number of image viewers.

You can access the SendTo file by entering shell: sendto in the navigation bar of the Explorer, or simply run and the shell: sendto

    Hello

You can perform a scan of the SFC (System File Checker). It lists all the issues and will also retrieve all files if necessary. Follow the steps below to p Ed a SFC Scan -.

    a. click Start, click programs, on Accessoriesprincipally made, right click guestand then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow
    b. type the following command and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow
A message appears indicating that "the system scan will start. Be patient because the scan can take some time.
    c. If all files require a SFC replace will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Win7 DVD for this process to continue.
    d. If everything is correct you should, after the scan, see the following message "resource protection Windows not found any breach of integrity".
    e. once the scan is finished, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.

What antivirus/antispyware/security products do you have on the machine? Include

Think about it an absolute must - manually update your drivers.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded
on your system. For each driver in the list, additional useful information is
Poster: load address of the driver, description, version, product name,.
company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit Maker as replacements and system manufacturer of device which are
the most recent. Control Panel - write - graphics card - device manager
the brand and complete model of your video card - double click - tab of the driver-
Note the version information. Now click on UPdate Driver (this can do nothing
MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall - REBOOT
This will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard
If there are 3rd party with their own software and drivers and the other main device drivers
    you have.

Now, go to the site of the manufacturer of system (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (restore)
and site (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get the manufacturer and device
their latest versions. (Look for the system to update the BIOS, Chipset and software updates
    Site of the manufacturer here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN -.
    REBOOT after each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you are
installation actually appears. This is because that some rollback of drivers before the
later is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so install a driver - reboot.
Make sure that it is installed and repeat if necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW to the device makers DO NOT RUN THEIR
SCANNER - check manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htm

Installation and update of drivers under Windows 7 (updated drivers manually using
the above methods is preferable to ensure the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system
    and device manufacturers are located)
    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.html

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable driver facilities
in the updates of Windows, which leaves on Windows updates, but it will not be installed
pilots who are generally older and cause problems. If updates provides a new
driver then hide it (right click on it) and then go get new ones manually if
    you want.
